Apollo 16 Flown Medalets

We are very pleased to announce 2 fantastic limited editions of Apollo 16 flown collectibles.

The first of which are Apollo 16 Flown medalets, these are small metal Apollo 16 emblems, that were flown to Lunar Orbit on Apollo 16 and come from the personal collection of Commander John Young.

Whats great about these is that they are complete and intact flown items, that are under $1,000! Most Apollo flown items for under $1,000 are cut pieces of cloth, Kapton foil or small bits of heat shield. But these medalets are whole, and untouched, mint items.

They have been framed with a small Apollo 16 Moonpan, 2 patches and a brass plaque. And come with a numbered COA. These are being offered to list members first, and will then be offered worldwide, so if you want one you better be quick!

Apollo 16 South Carolina Flag Flown to the Lunar Surface

This is a great flown item, because it actually spent 3 Days on the Lunar Surface. Most other Apollo flown items offered for sale are Lunar Orbit only items.

This flag comes from Apollo 16 moonwalker, Charlie Duke's personal collection and is of his home state of South Carolina. Charlie had provided 3 forms of provenance, a COA, photos of him holding the piece, and he also inscribed the piece, however it is a little hard to read as it was with blue ink on a blue item!

New Large Apollo Backdrop

A new Apollo Exhibit has just been completed that uses a Moonpans panoramic image. The display at the Royal Ontario Musuem, Canada is 9 feet wide and 6.5 feet high.

The panorama is from Apollo 17 and shows Astronaut, Harrison Schmitt bouncing over to the Lunar Rover close to Camelot Crater.

Apollo 11 crew signed Insurance Cover (Dow Unicover)

This is the rarest of the 3 types of Apollo 11 Insurance Covers, Apollo 11 was the first mission to issue insurance covers as a way to provide money to the astronauts families should they not return from the moon. These covers were signed by all 3 of the crew of Apollo 11 some time before their flight in July 1969

Apollo 13 Flown EVA Prep Card

This Card is printed on very heavy cardstock,and measures 10.25 x 7.75 inches. And was intended to be used when Jim Lovell and Fred Haise were preparing to leave the Lunar Module sitting on the Lunar Surface at Fra Mauro, in order to perform their first EVA on the moon. However, the explosion of an oxygen tank in the command module, put an end to the lunar landing and alas this card serves as a reminder of what could have been.

Gemini Signed Covers

Previously we had posted some Mercury signed covers, which all got snapped up straight away, so last we we put up some more Mercury covers, and today some fantastic Gemini Crew covers, including a very rare Gemini 10 cover signed by both John Young and Michael Collins!

Some of the covers were noted are Plugged 9 covers, these are covers which were stamped with a back dated stamp well after the mission, but other were stamped on the actual mission date.

Apollo Archive Film from Footagevault

A new online film archive specialising in Space footage has just been developed by Dr Chistopher Riley worked on the BBC space history series 'The Planets' and the new Apollo Documentary film "In The Shadow Of The Moon". And Alex Kandaurov, a Russian video reasearcher who spent many years recovering Russian 20th Century history footage.

The site is fully searchable allowing users to find movie clips from a wide variety of space missions. Footage is available in many formats, from free low resolution clips, to full broadcast quality clips.

We have just added another one of our most sort after items - our framed Apollo 11 Crew signed presentations.

This features the Autographs of all 3 Apollo 11 Crew members! A Belgian Stamp Block signature from Neil Armstrong, a cut signature from Mike Collins. And Buzz Aldrin is on one of our Signed Moonpans panoramas.

Apollo 12 Flown Maps

We are extremely excited to announce not one, but 2 lunar maps flown to the moon on Apollo 12!
These maps are 10.5 inch x 8 inch, and were used on Apollo 12 by Dick Gordon as he orbited the moon. They both show the Apollo 16 Landing site, which Dick was scouting out on behalf of the Apollo 16 mission.

Each map is only $5,995 and that includes a Handwritten COA from Dick Gordon!

Photo Of Neil Armstrong On The Moon

As you may know, there were no good photos of Neil Armstrong taken on the moon. Mainly because he had the camera most of the time, and there was no official plan to take his photo in the flight plan.

Some might say Buzz should have taken one anyway, or that Neil should have asked for one, or it didnt occur to them as they had more inmortant things to do....

There are a couple of images of Neil on the Surface from the TV camera, the 16mm Film camera, and as part of a 70mm Panorama which only shows Neils back.

So I have taken it upon myself to add a new image to the list.

In the famous Visor Shot of Buzz, you can just see Neils reflection in Buzz's visor. So I got hold of a very hi-res scan of Buzz and zoomed in on the Visor. The cropped image was quite distorted and spherical, so I then had to do quite a bit of correction, stretching etc.

Lastly I corrected the gold tint and flipped the image to show a new full frontal photo of neil on the Lunar Surface as Buzz would have seen him.

The quality isnt great, but it is at least one more photo of Neil on the Moon!

is a trouble-shooting flow chart intended to fix any problems with the 70 mm
Cameras used on the Lunar Surface by the Apollo 17 Crew. It spent 3 days on the
Lunar Surface
It has been hand signed and inscribed by Apollo 17 Commander
Gene Cernan, "Flown To The Lunar Surface on Apollo xvii - Gene Cernan Apollo
xvii CDR" It is framed with 2 Nasa Patches by AB Emblems, and a brass
plaque.

Dr Mitchell has signed some new 16x20 inch photos for
us. The 2 shots are, Mitchell next to the Flag on the Moon, and the 2nd is
Mitchell holding a map whilst looking for Cone Crater. Both are printed on Fuji
Archive paper and are signed in Silver ink

Apollo 13 Flown Lunar Module Systems Page
This a page from the Apollo 13 LM systems book. It is a double sided page that contain two graphs of expected battery power, and RCS propellent levels during the vital parts of the LM's mission, such as un-docking, descent, landing, lunar take off etc.

Giant Moonpan Backdrop at the Museum Of Flight

As part of their new exhibit "Space: Exploring the New Frontier" the Museum Of Flight in Seattle has just intalled a 26 feet long panorama by Moonpans.com from the Apollo 17 mission.

Our panoramic images make perfect backdrops for Museum displays as their shape and size enable them to wrap around items such as Lunar Rovers and Lunar Modules.

In the Museum of flight exhibit, the Panorama shows Apollo 17 Lunar Module Pilot Harrison Schmitt using the lunar rake, and is displayed alongside a replica Lunar Rover and a replica Lunar Module assent stage above.

This is the latest of several giant backdrop images we have supplied to Museums, other establishments include the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, The SPACE A Journey to Our Future Exhibition, and The Mining Hall Of Fame Museum in Colorado
