I saw Richard as striking out in the only way that he saw possible at the moment. I disagree with him in his process of wanting those comments. I think he was wanting the comments for himself, not for you.<BR/><BR/>Let me explain.<BR/><BR/>I am a person with chronic pain (CP'er) who has lost 70% of the nerve signal in my hands and arms. I am losing muscle mass in my back, arms and hands. At last count I had 17 separate diagnosis's. At age 36 (last year, 2006) my wife (we are now separated and going through a divorce) was told to make funeral plans for me because the doctor didn't think that I was going to live through the night for the 5th time in seven years.<BR/><BR/>"I'm sorry" means nothing to me.<BR/>"Best wishes" means nothing to me.<BR/>"I wish..." means nothing to me.<BR/><BR/>Those comments made my wife feel better for a short time, not me. Each day I have to live with the reality of what ails me and words tend to ring hollow in my ears. It is actions that speak louder than words. With as exasperated as Lin sounded when she wrote her post, I didn't feel that she was ready to hear words, she wanted action, even if she wasn't sure what that action was. Now, with the "new" blog ideas she has her action. She is ready for words, she is ready for feedback.<BR/><BR/>If I met Lin face-to-face today, I could look her in the eye and simply say, "I know" and she would not have to describe a single aspect of her illness to me.
