Therefore as a citizen living under our Constitution he was free to express his beliefs and ideas even if the vast majority of Americans may not have agreed with him. That's why we have the First Amendment Freedom of Speech guarantee. No matter how reprehensible Trumbo's ideas and beliefs may have been he still had a right to them. He was an admitted Communist. Also so he said that the Communists in Hollywood managed to suppress anti communist productions.
