Well, let me tell ya!<div>So, about 1 and 1/2 weeks after my summer mission trip to Peru and Argentina I began a new adventure with College. I started my Freshman year at Liberty University (I am one of the youngest Freshman being 23 and all ;-). I am majoring in Theater with a Specialization in Drama Ministry.</div><div><br /></div><div>The first week at college was so FUN! A friend mentioned that it reminded them of summer camp. There was this BIG Block Party (Rush of Fools was there)...and fun thing to do...then the Classes began (Dun, Dun, DUN!!!). The first day we go over the Syllabus which basically tells us what we are gonna cover in class, not bad, then assignments start to come :-( Oh well, its not too bad, didn't have to do too many all nighters...But while in college I got in this bad habit of staying up in to all hours of the night 2am, 3am, 4am,etc...but the funny thing is that my body handled well. My first Semester I took GNED 101 (it basically teaches world issues and has us determine why we believe what we believe...I would have this class Mon., Wed., and Fri. at 8:50am....my professor, Lew Weider, was excellent, Fun and full of energy, ADD, all good mixtures for a morning class!!)...</div><div><br /></div><div>On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we something called Convocation at 10am. At Convo we'll have various speakers come and speak to us (imagine that!!)...We've had Mike Huckabee (excellent speaker), Martin Luther King Jr's daughter...my favorite was this short African American lady named Thelma Whelms who had a lot of spunk and shared the truth of Gods word...A note for those of you who may one day have a chance to speak to College Students: 1.) Be Interesting, enjoy what you are sharing! 2.)Never whistle at the college students, you will quickly lose their respect 3.) Remember, you are speaking to students who are 17 and older, what would THEY be interested in learning?? 4.) Stories and Jokes are GREAT!! 5.) Also, incorporate multi-media (videos and stuff)</div><div><br /></div><div>My first semester I also took English 101, uggghh, we had assignments practically every day...then I had a Basic Acting class which totally shared how to act in a way that normal Highschool acting class doesn't teach...it was a growing experiance for me as an actor...I learned that I really need to relax when I have opportunities to act, also I need to do proper research for my characters to make my acting and movement, etc...all believable...Lets see, I also took a Theater History 211 class which was interesting, had an opportunity to be in a Acting Experiment in which we had to come up with an original script and had to incorporate ideas from what we had been studying in class...My group did a Shakespearean-like short skit and since in Shakspeare's day the men played all the roles, I had the opportunity to be a woman...hmmm. I also took a class called Evangelism...</div><div>Well, I passed that semester with All A's and 1 B, yeah!!</div><div><br /></div><div>This last semester I took GNED 102 (with the same professor), I took a class called Voice for the Stage in which we learn how to use our voice with its maximum potential, I also had English 102 in which we read poems, dramas, and short fiction, it was interesting...Took Math 115 which touched on all types of Math...took the second part of Theater History (212)...and I took Spanish 101 ( I have taken Spanish before which helped me stay on top of things in college spanish)...thankfully I got all A's and 1 B again this year, horrah!!!</div><div><br /></div><div>Now I want to talk about campus life...I love the People!!! My hall is 26-2...my RAs (the bosses of the hall) are lovingly called Chich and Fish...my SLDs (Adam and Adam)...and then you have Prayer Leaders whom I am one of, we have 5 guys and a group who we check on during the week, see if they have any prayer requests...then once a week we meet with our guys (Tuesday night) and share with them a time in which I may share a message, watch something, just be guys...good times...Prayer Leaders also meet up with the Hall leadership on Monday nights and then on Wed. we have to go to a Prayer Leader Class in which we are taught different Spiritual truths...</div><div><br /></div><div>Ok, so, as some of you may know, Liberty University is a dating college, so they pair up the dorms...and this year my dorm was paired up with both a Sister Dorm (14) and a Brother Dorm (10) and as you can guess there was some competition to get the Sister Dorm to like our dorm more, blah, blah, blah, but I love a lot of the guys in the brother dorm and our sister dorm is The Bomb! Many times I would get to eat with various ones from the brother or sister dorm at the Reuber Thomas Dining Hall (from now on called the Rot)...The Rot's food is something not totally fulfilling. Once in a while you would get food that really hit the spot, but more times the food just made your stomach hurt, ughhh...oh well, as I mentioned before, I love the people, so I would go to the Rot mainly for the company of my bros and sis's (btw, I call the guys on my hall my Seimese Twins since they are closer than the brother or sister dorm, I know, kinda dumb, oh well, this is my blog so I can write whatever)...I have had many an interesting meal at the Rot from eating with Christa and Natalie and talking about Hypothetical questions, to pretending to stalk Leah, to talking about the time Raymond held a door for a girl and she stopped and said, "You can let the door shut" and he left in a huff, or sitting with Vicky and talking about the fact that I DO live in Northern VA and she saying that you have to have a 703 to live there, or talking to my Cousing Bryan about being from West Virginny, or talking to my brother Leighton about how mom loves me more, or crying when Hannah leaves me to sit with people she loves more ;-) or enjoying Brittany's amazing eyeshadow (rainbows), or sitting with the cousins Sean and Becca and getting a kick out of how paranoid Sean is (barfffffff :-) Or sitting with Ciji and hearing her many stories, or sitting with Adam or Adam or Adam, oh yeah, gotta loved that name!! Love you guys!! Oh man, so many memories, sorry I didnt' write them all out, please don't feel left out...feel free to share!!!</div><div><br /></div><div>Ok, now about my Theater experiances at LU...So, during the first semester I had the opportunity to be on crew for "Fiddler on the Roof" which was really cool...some people said it was better than the movie and the Broadway!!! Then I had the opportunity to be in a play which a LU approved club called Transformation Theater Company put on called "Girl In the Mirror"...the money we raised went to an organization called To Write Love On Her Arms...Then this semester I was on crew for "Crucible"...I was both on crew and had a small speaking part on a play called "A Doll's House" as well!! Fun Stuff!! LU has some grade A actors and actresses!! Its an amazing Theater Family there!</div><div><br /></div><div>Then you got all the amazing people I have met all over Liberty in Theater, classes, throught friend, wow!! Love these people, what an amazing family...Know I know why Mr. Fournier loves LU so much ;-)</div><div><br /></div><div>Well, I guess this is long enough, time to call it quits!! Oh, btw, now I am having my summer break and can't wait to go back to Liberty as a Sophomore and create more memories :-) </div><div><br /></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/30414839-2473577076447370558?l=maineiac1985.blogspot.com'/></div>Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03946905607620663099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30414839.post-29486844253239715682008-08-05T21:21:00.000-07:002008-08-15T21:58:35.864-07:00Peru/Argentina 2008 Overview!!!Well, I got back home from my trip last Saturday (Aug. 2), its taken adjusting, missing friends and the places I've visited, but I am doing well!! I wanted to share some stats and stories from Peru and Argentina...<br /><br />Peru:<br />Number of places we as a project went to to minister: 79<br />Number of people who saw us: 4384<br />Number of Adult Salvations: 331<br />Number of Child Salvations: 123<br />Total number of Salvations in Peru: 454<br /><br />Here's one of my most memorable stories from Peru:<br /><br />There was a time after I gave the net (altar call) that there was a group that needed prayer. I decided to pray for everyone at the same time. At one point I asked them all to repeat after me a couple of times, "I am healed in the name of Jesus Christ!" Afterwards, I heard that one man who had anxiety that day had been healed, and another woman who had asthma (I believe that was the sickness) was healed. Yes, God heals today, I saw it with my eyes!!!<br /><br />Argentina:<br /><br />Total number of Salvations: 424<br />Memorable story from Argentina:<br /><br /><br />My team was hanging out at a park playing with kids. My PD (a leader right above me) told me to go talk to a group of young men. So I got my missionary guys and we went over and talked some to them, we then played a game of soccer. Before we left, my guys started to share their faith...there was one guy there that seemed to get it, them he had to leave because he had a sick son. Me and my missionary guys then prayed for these young men we had been sharing with, that they would find Christ...That night we had an amazing dinner at the church we were working with and then went house to house inviting people to come to a church service that evening. When I got back to the church I saw that close to a whole row was being taken up by some of the guys we had played soccer with and some friends of the soccer players that we had shared with. We did the "Ragman" (a drama that depicts Jesus taking various sicknesses upon Himself and dying and being raised from the dead) that night and in spanish I told each of these guys that this message is for them...I watched each of these guys come to Christ this night!!! Praise God, He who began a good work in these young men will be faithful to complete it!!!<br /><br />Thank you all for your prayer and support this summer! Please continue to pray for me as I come home to a "New" Mission field...Next Wed. (13th)I am actually heading off to Libertry University where I will be studying Drama Ministry (if you know me at all, you know I LOVE TO ACT!!!)... All for the extension of Christs Kingdom!!!<br /><br />To the ends of the earth,<br />This world for King Jesus,<br />Adam Parker <><<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/30414839-2948684425323971568?l=maineiac1985.blogspot.com'/></div>Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03946905607620663099noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30414839.post-59949772879054367962008-07-19T14:59:00.000-07:002008-07-19T15:33:22.327-07:00ArgentinaWell folks, I have been in Argentina for over a week and I am loving it!! This is actually the first time that Teen Mania has gone to Argentina and the churches we are working with love us!!<br /><br />We´ve done dramas at plazas and parks and have shared Christ with people in that way. We also helped out at a Camp that had many troubled youth...we shared some of our dramas there, we played sports, helped in the kitchen, etc...Then yesterday we went to a Church camp that was very close to the snow covered Andes Mountains...while there we did some dramas in a plaza, a playground, and a playground and shared Jesus there! That night we presented 4 skits/dramas, our leader was sharing God´s plan for Guy/Girl relationships...<br /><br />Guys, I am having a BLAST!!! I first went to Teen Mania´s headquarters where I had some training and then went on to Miami where we met up with all of the missionaries. I am a solo leader of an amazing team of about 16 missionaries. Our team name is FDA (Familia de Amigos) and our Theme is the ¨Big Picture¨(what lasts? you can only bring other people to heaven with you.<br /><br />Well, for the last 8 days (15-22) we have been in Chincha and Pisco, both hit hard by the earthquake last summer. In Pisco we actually drove past a church in which about 500 people died during the earthquake. We have been doing ministry though dramas, door to door acts of kindness (help prepare meals, remove rocks, etc...), and VBS. Some of the door to door we did was in ¨Refugee Camps¨where people had to move because of the earthquake...I was trying to download some pictures but its taking too long...God Bless, gtg<br /><br />By the way, to see pictures from the trip, go to <a href="http://www.globalexpeditions.com/">www.globalexpeditions.com</a> <br />...Projects...Peru...then click on ¨A¨. I choose to be full of faith; I will not only be a hearer, but a doer of the Word of God. I will serve before I demand. I will love and not hate. I will give before I take. Today, I choose to make a difference in this world and to be a part of something bigger than myself. I choose to dedicate my life to prayer and ask God for his miraculous power and the courage to do the impossible. I will make godly relationships a priority in my life as I esteem others higher than myself. The last eight days while in Peru, I became a leader (with a co-leader) of about 23 missionaries. I am looking forward to being a leader again this summer. This will give me the opportunity to grow as a leader both spiritually and practically.<br /></div><div align="left"><br />The trip this summer will be from June 5-August 2. To start off, we will be doing training. While training I will also be getting to know my co-leader and other leaders. After Peru I hung out with my brother and his family (wife and two sons...3yrs and the other is months old)...I was able to help my brother at the gym he owns...I also watched the boys...had a good time!!!<br /><br />I then headed home to VA. Here I helped at a Youth Retreat during Labor Day weekend. I had a great time! Taught some of the dramas from my mission trips and shared them with the campers. Everyone loved the "Heart Skit" for those of you who know it ;-) I had loads of fun driving a four-wheeler all over the farm too...<br /><br />Lets see, well acouple of weeks back I took quite a trip. It started with driving my older sister to NYC where she is on staff at a YWAM DTS. The trip there went well. Then from NYC I went to my grandparents on my dad's side in Lisbon Falls, Maine. I was able to share about my trip to Peru with their church (which actually used to be my church, I used to live in Maine from 1985-1996). I also visited an aunt and uncle and got my hair cut by another aunt.<br /><br />I then headed to my other brother's place in Gloucester, Mass. for the weekend. Hung out with him, his wife, and three year old little girl. We went to the beach...ate out...drove around...good times. Then on to Dublin, NH, where I went to Bible School for 2 years. Here they were having a Christian Convention which I was able to attend for about three days. I also shared my trip to Peru here. After this I drove down to Pittsburgh, PA to an Internet Business Convention which was AWESOME!! Then on home to good ol Virginny.<br /><br />I am now working with dad in electrical (we'll actually be doing some carpentry soon, we know someone who needs new stairs outside). Every Thursday I go with my parents to what is called an Industry Briefing for our Internet Business. Last Sunday I had a fun time sharing with my church here in VA my trip to Peru...I'm not sure what my next step is...I'm gonna go to a college for the weekend in Nov. at Liberty University. While there I'll audition for keyboard and voice for their Praise and Worship outreach band...if I become Keyboardist I'll get a free-ride there (if I understand correctly)...as many of you know, I LOVE TO ACT!!! Maybe I should do an acting school with YWAM?? I am in our church drama again this year. I am Fred in "A Christmas Carol in NYC". Much of the music in this drama was written by the youth pastor and her husband!! If you want t come, you are more than welcome, I know you'll enjoy it, and you wont be disappointed. The shows will be on Dec. 14, 15, and 16 at Johnson-Williams Middleschool in Berryville, Virginia. If you are interested in comming, let me know and I will give you more info!!<br /><br />Well, I will ttyl<br /><br />To the ends of the earth,<br />This world for King Jesus,<br />Adam Parker <>< (Jer. 29:11)<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/30414839-857187393092567621?l=maineiac1985.blogspot.com'/></div>Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03946905607620663099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30414839.post-6445386702610928852007-10-20T11:28:00.000-07:002007-10-20T12:16:22.597-07:00Finally, another post ;-)So, in my last post I said that I would be putting up more stuff about the Bible...but I just want to tell ya'll some things about God that will encourage you!!<br /><br />First of all, many parents will tell their kids that they will love them no matter what they do...well, God loves us so much more than parents, nothing we do will seperate us from that love, even when we mess up!<br />Rom 8:38, 39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, <br /> Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love (agape love, unconditional love) of God, which is in Chris Jesus our Lord.<br /><br />Here is something I wrote in my Bible;<br /><br />God speaking:<br />"Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you (Jer. 1:5); I knit you together in your mothers womb (Ps. 139:13); I love you so much more than anyone on earth will ever love you (1 Jn 4:8); don't be afraid of the future, for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope, I AM IN CONTROL (Jer. 29:11, Ps. 29:10); you'll hear my voice behind you saying, 'this is the way, walk in it' (Is. 30:21); I am always with you, to the end (Matt. 28:20); I love you more than you'll ever know (Rom. 11:33); I forgive you more than any (Matt. 9:6a,Matt. 18:21 and 22,Ps. 103:12).'"<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/30414839-644538670261092885?l=maineiac1985.blogspot.com'/></div>Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03946905607620663099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30414839.post-42885413983994500592007-08-10T15:59:00.000-07:002007-08-10T16:40:17.775-07:00God's Word is POWERFUL and MIGHTY!! pt.1While I was in Peru I learned this little song/poem/thingy that goes like this:<br />God's Word (echo)<br />Is powerful and Mighty (echo)<br />God's Word is Powerful and Mighty (singing now, echo)<br />Mighty mighty is God's word that makes the devil tremble (singing/echo)<br />Beat that devil with a Bible verse (echo)<br /><br />I wanted to share with ya'll a lot of good stuff from Isaiah!!<br /><br />Isa 35<br /><span style="font-size:78%;">1</span>The desert and the dry land will be glad, and the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.<br /><span style="font-size:78%;">2</span>Like a lily the land will blossom. It will rejoice and sing with joy. It will have the glory of Lebanon, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon. Everyone will see the glory of the LORD, the majesty of our God.<br /><span style="font-size:78%;">3</span>Strengthen limp hands. Steady weak knees.<br /><span style="font-size:78%;">4</span>Tell those who are terrified, "Be brave; don't be afraid. Your God will come with vengeance, with divine revenge. He will come and rescue you."<br /><span style="font-size:78%;">5 </span>Then the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the ears of the deaf will be unplugged.<br /><span style="font-size:78%;">6</span>Then those who are lame will leap like deer, and those who cannot speak will shout for joy. Water will gush out into the desert, and streams will gush out into the wilderness.<br /><span style="font-size:78%;">7</span>Then the hot sand will become a pool, and dry ground will have springs. Grass will become cattails and rushes in the home of jackals.<br /><span style="font-size:78%;">8</span>A highway will be there, a roadway. It will be called the Holy Road. Sinners won't travel on it. It will be for those who walk on it. Godless fools won't wander onto it.<br /><span style="font-size:78%;">9 </span>Lions won't be there. Wild animals won't go on it. They won't be found there. But the people reclaimed by the LORD will walk on it.<br /><span style="font-size:78%;">10 </span>The people ransomed by the LORD will return. They will come to Zion singing with joy. Everlasting happiness will be on their heads as a crown. They will be glad and joyful. They will have no sorrow or grief.<br />**Its neat to look at this passage from a Missionary point of view...the dry desert land is like people who didn't know Christ who brings life. When people truly come to Christ, they are rescued from the sin that ensnares them...also, God brings healing spiritually and physically!! And now the person who just got saved knows Christ and can share Him with others, thus he becomes a "road" to God...Neat, huh**<br /><br />Isa 42:5-7 <span style="font-size:78%;">5</span>The LORD God created the heavens and stretched them out. He shaped the earth and all that comes from it. He gave life to the people who are on it and breath to those who walk on it. This is what the LORD God says:<br /><span style="font-size:78%;">6</span>I, the LORD, have called you to do what is right. I will take hold of your hand. I will protect you. I will appoint you as my promise to the people, as my light to the nations.<br /><span style="font-size:78%;">7</span>You will give sight to the blind, bring prisoners out of prisons, and bring those who live in darkness out of dungeons.<br />**God of all creation is talking to us here and shows us that He is always with us, holding our hand. He then appoints us to bring His light to all nations...give sight to the blind[spiritually and phytsically], set people free spiritually, and bring them to the light. Remember, as we do this, Christ is holding our hand!!!**<br /><br />Isa 45:22,23b <span style="font-size:78%;">22</span>Turn to me and be saved, all who live at the ends of the earth, because I am God, and there is no other.<br /><span style="font-size:78%;">23b</span>"Every knee will bow to me and every tongue will swear allegiance."<br />**One day, every knee will bow!!! Be of good courage, we are on the winning side!!**<br /><br />Isa 46:3,4 <span style="font-size:78%;">3</span>Listen to me, descendants of Jacob, the few people left of the nation of Israel. I've carried you since your birth. I've taken care of you from the time you were born.<br /><span style="font-size:78%;">4</span>Even when you're old, I'll take care of you. Even when your hair turns gray, I'll support you. I made you and will continue to care for you. I'll support you and save you.<br />**As followers of Christ I believe that these verses apply to us also. God is carrying us, he takes care of us, no matter our age!! He supports us...Wow, isn't that so comforting knowing that our God, our Father, He's there caring for us!! He's ultimate Daddy!**<br /><br />Isa 48:18,19 <span style="font-size:78%;">18</span>If only you had listened to my commands! Your peace would be like a river that never runs dry. Your righteousness would be like waves on the sea.<br /><span style="font-size:78%;">19</span>Your descendants would be like sand. Your children would be like its grains. Their names would not be cut off or wiped out in my presence.<br />**There is SO much blessing that come from following God and His Word!!**<br /><br />Isa 49:14-16 <span style="font-size:78%;">14</span>But Zion said, "The LORD has abandoned me. My Lord has forgotten me."<br /><span style="font-size:78%;">15</span>Can a woman forget her nursing child? Will she have no compassion on the child from her womb? Although mothers may forget, I will not forget you.<br /><span style="font-size:78%;">16</span>I have engraved you on the palms of my hands. Your walls are always in my presence.<br />**I know that God has a special plan for Israel. I also think this can be applied to followers of Christ as well. God will never forget us!! Isn't that imagery so amazing of God engraving us on the palm of His hands. **<br /><br />Isa. 50:4b Morning after morning he will wake me to listen like a student.<br />**Listen to God...follow His commands**<br /><br />Isa 50:11 But all of you light fires and arm yourselves with flaming torches. So walk in your own light and among the torches you have lit. This is what you will receive from me: You will be tormented.<br />**Don't try to light your way in life with your own torch!! Follow God's pillar of fire as the Israelites did**<br /><br />Thats all I'm going to put down now...there's more, I'll post more later. Stand on God's promises, THEY NEVER FAIL!!! Mat 24:35 "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my WORDS will never pass away."<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/30414839-4288541398399450059?l=maineiac1985.blogspot.com'/></div>Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03946905607620663099noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30414839.post-20715669078088824502007-08-08T19:34:00.001-07:002007-08-08T20:38:06.032-07:00Pic collage(sp?) of Peru<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/RrqJHBX8QQI/AAAAAAAAAFs/-1tiP9I2bYs/s1600-h/Machu+Picchu6.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; The first couple of days my team, The Freedom Fighters, did ministry here in Lima, drama and evangelizing...We then headed about 3-4 hours out of Lima to a town called Chincha (very close to Pisco). Here we did the drama ¨Freedom¨, did some personal evangelism, and VBS. One place we did VBS was in a poor neighborhood that was really dusty (on the last day of VBS here a 8 year old boy, Eduardo, gave his life to Christ, yahoo!!!). We also did VBS two days at an all girl orphanage. They loved us, and many missionaries´ hearts were touched (don´t take your family for granted, God is a father to the fatherless). One girl on the trip feels called to start an orphanage in Mexico, and this help solidify her vision.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-size:100%;">So, one day in ministry...we had finished the drama, spoke to various people. I took some money out of my backpack to use the Baño (50 centimos was needed)...I put my backpack near our soundbox...left...and when I came back, my backpack was no where to be found, it had been stolen. (I guess robbers go up and down this particular road and had seen me take money out of my back pack)...But, let me put it this way: so, this backpack was full of ¨seed¨...Spanish Bibles, tracts, my Bible, my notebook of Journaling and notes from meetings, an electronic translator (they can translate my notebook into English!!!), glasses (maybe they can see the literature better now), some bars (fed spiritually and physically), possibly about 3 cameras (don´t worry, I´ll try to get some disposable cameras for Macchu Picchu), my cd player, many Cds (Jordan, I´m so sorry, that Downhere Cd was in there), and my Nalgene water bottle...May God use those seeds to change Chincha, it was all God´s any how </span><br /><span style="font-size:100%;">(¨ you are noy your own, you were bought with a price¨, if I´m not my own, nothing I own is my own either!! Plus, God works all things together for good!!). </span><br /><br />At the site we went to after this incident, we led 4 people to christ and encouraged about 5 young Catholic students in the things of God (they knew Christ personally...and I hope that each of you who read this blog trust Him too!!). This message of Christ is the most importand message in the world!!!<br /><span style="font-size:100%;"></span><br /><span style="font-size:100%;">Well, I´m gonna get going. God bless you all, love you, and see you later.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-size:100%;">Adam Parker</span><br /><span style="font-size:100%;">7/23/07</span><br /><span style="font-size:100%;">Lima, Peru</span><br /><span style="font-size:100%;">To the ends of the earth, this world for King Jesus!!!!</span><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/30414839-964403360316323755?l=maineiac1985.blogspot.com'/></div>Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03946905607620663099noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30414839.post-82931401789916609632007-07-12T14:15:00.000-07:002007-07-12T14:51:37.555-07:00I´ve been in Peru for a month now!!<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/RpagVJ8DeyI/AAAAAAAAADs/zCQqfDL6E3c/s1600-h/DSCF1682%5B1%5D"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5086429114467056418" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/RpagVJ8DeyI/AAAAAAAAADs/zCQqfDL6E3c/s320/DSCF1682%5B1%5D" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/RpafQp8DexI/AAAAAAAAADk/9DbW3JBdcp0/s1600-h/DSCF1680%5B1%5D"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5086427937646017298" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/RpafQp8DexI/AAAAAAAAADk/9DbW3JBdcp0/s320/DSCF1680%5B1%5D" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/RpaetJ8DewI/AAAAAAAAADc/qZVGS2RjaYw/s1600-h/DSCF1663%5B1%5D"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5086427327760661250" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/RpaetJ8DewI/AAAAAAAAADc/qZVGS2RjaYw/s320/DSCF1663%5B1%5D" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/RpaeJJ8DevI/AAAAAAAAADU/RGpu-QImum0/s1600-h/DSCF1644%5B1%5D"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5086426709285370610" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/RpaeJJ8DevI/AAAAAAAAADU/RGpu-QImum0/s320/DSCF1644%5B1%5D" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/Rpad3p8DeuI/AAAAAAAAADM/Q0gL_L3yCdw/s1600-h/DSCF1612%5B1%5D"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5086426408637659874" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/Rpad3p8DeuI/AAAAAAAAADM/Q0gL_L3yCdw/s320/DSCF1612%5B1%5D" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5086426125169818322" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/RpadnJ8DetI/AAAAAAAAADE/S22L58jy_m4/s320/DSCF1626%5B1%5D" border="0" /><br /><br /><div><br /><br /></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5086425412205247170" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/Rpac9p8DesI/AAAAAAAAAC8/LjJQ8H6WYds/s320/DSCF1614%5B1%5D" border="0" /><span style="font-size:78%;">Top to bottom 1) A Seal or Sea lion on the boat trip 2)On the boat trip 3)An old bridge or dock, kinda reminds you of ¨Pirates of the Carribbean¨4)A huge image in the sand thats been there for hundreds of years, people aren´t quite sure how they were made, there are different ideas 5) With Isaac, he lived in the church in Pisco 6)With Joel, the pastor´s son in Pisco 7)Soccer in the street!!<br /></span><br /><div><div>Its been an awesome experience here so far and I know that it will continue to be amazing!!! A basic day we get up about 6:50 ish and have b-fast at 7am...Quiet time from 7:30-8:30...Get together with my team of about 20 people (our team is called ¨Sol Family¨....we then get onto the bus and head to our ministry site...on the bus someone might say some ¨nugget¨from the Bible...we might sing some praise songs and pray for the site we are going to...<br /><br />After we get to the site we get into our ministry group (MIG) and invite people to the drama, ¨Tenemos un teatro in cinco minutos, venga!!¨ We then go back to the ministry and square off, which makes our stage...We have an intro and then some fun skits like the ¨Catch All¨where one guy catches all these malladies from other sick people and then a pregnant lady comes and the Catch all runs off screaming. Another skit is called ¨The Ugly Man¨which has one person´s head under a sweat shirt...four people look under the sweat shirt and run off screaming...the fourth person looks under the sweat shirt and the ugly man runs off screaming...Next we have a Testimony by a missionary and then do our main Drama called ¨Freedom¨...its and awesome drama showing how Jesus takes our sins or chains on Himself and takes it to the cross and then raises from the dead, conquering death and sin...gives the Peruvian people a visual. One of our leaders then does the ¨Net¨which is basically the Alter Call...we then get back into ur MIGs and go share Jesus with people...<br /><br />Yesterday, Wednesday, at one site a group of guys went to a park to invite some guys to the drama. These guys were selling Marijuana but some of then followed us back to the drama and as we walked back I prayed that God would protect us and bind the demons of addictions and open these guys ears to the gospel. A friend of mine shared his testimony at that site about his past in drugs like Marijuana and his freedom through Christ, he was really able to connect with these guys and some of them gave their lives to Christ...so many other Amazing things have happened here but you´ll just have to wait and talk to me later and keep checking this blog and the Global Expeditions site...Thanks again to all of you who gave and are praying for this trip, its AMAZING and AWESOME!!!!!! Please pray for our energy and healing for those who are sick and for protection from sickness...Love Ya´ll, we are all World changers for God changes the world through the Seeds we sow!<br /><br />To the ends of the earth,<br />This world for King Jesus,<br />Reporting from Lima, Peru on 6-28-06 at 8:42pm<br />Adam Parker<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/30414839-1701160975919019981?l=maineiac1985.blogspot.com'/></div>Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03946905607620663099noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30414839.post-46553455174639553832007-06-23T11:56:00.000-07:002007-06-23T12:21:54.693-07:00I´m in PERU!!!!<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/Rn1vIVSF4UI/AAAAAAAAACU/TgF5wvgy9Zw/s1600-h/DSCF1185%5B1%5D"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5079338143686451522" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/Rn1vIVSF4UI/AAAAAAAAACU/TgF5wvgy9Zw/s320/DSCF1185%5B1%5D" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/Rn1vIlSF4VI/AAAAAAAAACc/3rjImtPWb98/s1600-h/DSCF1187%5B1%5D"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5079338147981418834" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/Rn1vIlSF4VI/AAAAAAAAACc/3rjImtPWb98/s320/DSCF1187%5B1%5D" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/Rn1vJFSF4WI/AAAAAAAAACk/GYsI29OzA-w/s1600-h/DSCF1197%5B1%5D"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5079338156571353442" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/Rn1vJFSF4WI/AAAAAAAAACk/GYsI29OzA-w/s320/DSCF1197%5B1%5D" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/Rn1vJVSF4XI/AAAAAAAAACs/X34-3nkeQP4/s1600-h/DSCF1218%5B1%5D"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5079338160866320754" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/Rn1vJVSF4XI/AAAAAAAAACs/X34-3nkeQP4/s320/DSCF1218%5B1%5D" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/Rn1vJlSF4YI/AAAAAAAAAC0/DDQMmDnE8pk/s1600-h/DSCF1233%5B1%5D"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5079338165161288066" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_XJbzKC062d0/Rn1vJlSF4YI/AAAAAAAAAC0/DDQMmDnE8pk/s320/DSCF1233%5B1%5D" border="0" /></a><span style="font-size:78%;"> </span><br /><span style="font-size:78%;">(top to bottom) 1.)The airport in Mexico City (C trippers, here in Peru for 2 months), 2.) I got here to Lima on the 15th, Friday morning...Sunday we had a 8 hour trip to a place in the Mountains called Huanico. It was quite eventful with many people getting motion sickness (the roads are windier than any in Virginia)...we had to adjust to the change in altitude, it was harder to breathe. In Huanico we did dramas all over, in parks, at schools, and once in a market that had donkey heads on some of the counters, many people came to know Jesus Christ, and there were miracles. Last night we headed back to Lima, we left Huanico around 10pm and got back to Lima 6:30 am...Today, Saturday, is a free day till 6:30pm. We are shopping and ate at a Pizza Hut, mmmm, good stuff...Well, stay tuned for more new...Love ya´ll. I know that God is going before me and preparing hearts for His Word!! So, the 1st month we'll be working with doctors in clinics helping by taking blood pressure, taking temperatures, and giving basic medication...we'll also be doing dramas for the patients. The second month we'll be doing more street ministry, VBS, etc...We are also going to visit Macchu Pichu, one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world right outside of Cuzco. So, for all who have given through prayer or financially I want to say a big<span style="font-size:180%;"> Thank You SO much!!! </span><span style="font-size:100%;">I do greatly appreciate it.</span><br />By the way, if any of you want to go on a mission trip...let me know, I'll give you pointers and if you are close enough, I'll help you with fundraising. I personally believe that EVERY PERSON should go on at least on mission trip in their life, it broadens their horizons and will CHANGE THEIR LIFE!!! Plus, Jesus said, "Go ye therefore into all the world and preach the gospel...and lo I (Jesus) am with you always, even to the end of the age."<br /><br />To the ends of the earth, this world for King Jesus,<br />Adam Parker <><<br />(Jeremiah 29:11)<br /><br />P.S. Don't worry, you'll find the research paper fascinating!!<br /><br /><div align="center"><br /><span style="font-size:130%;">Science in the<br />Classroom,<br /></span><span style="font-size:85%;">a different point of view<br /></span><span style="font-size:78%;">by Adam Parker<br />for AiG's Research Paper Challenge</span><br /></div><div align="left"></div><div align="left">Did you know that before 1925, the predominant way to teach science was through a creationist (an intelligent creator made life) point of view? In 1925, the state of Tennessee had the Butler Act which said that you couldn't teach evolution in the classroom. The ACLU wanted to test this law in the courts and put an ad in the paper: “We are looking for Tennessee teacher who is willing to accept our services in testing this law in the courts.” John Scopes, a substitute teacher who possibly hadn't even taught evolution, replied to this ad. The Scopes 'monkey' trial then began. As a result of this landmark trial, today evolution is the only explanation given to Science in public schools. (Menton AiG Internet)<br /></div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"> </div><div align="left">Why is it that evolution can be taught in Public School classrooms and not creation? Both are theories which, according to the online book Evolution in Hawaii, “in science, a theory refers to an explanation of some aspect of the natural world that is held with great confidence because it is supported by overwhelming evidence.”Lets take a close look at evolution. We all agree that the father of evolution is Charles Darwin. Different ones from the prestigious Zoological Section of the French Institute once tried to vote Darwin in as a member, but failed. According to a prominent member, “What has closed the doors of the Academy to Mr. Darwin is that the science of his books...is not science, but a mass of assertions and absolute gratuitous (uncalled for) hypotheses, often evidently fallacious...” If a prestigious Zoological Institute questioned Darwin's theories, don't you think we should too? (Darwin 2:400)<br /></div><div align="left"></div><div align="left">First of all, what is evolution? Webster's New World Dictionary say that, “evolution is the development of a species, organism, etc... from its original to present state, it is the theory that all species developed from earlier forms.” Most evolutionists believe that spontaneous generation (life from non-life) is what began life. In the beginning was a primordial soup that contained simple cells which through billions of years, mutations, and natural selection, brought us to where we are today. A world of amazing beauty and complex organisms. (Patterson AiG 139)<br /></div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"> </div><div align="left">We can't see spontaneous generation happening today; its not observable, therefore it isn't scientific. Also, mutations never add new information. A mutation either takes away information from the organism or is neutral. How then could mutations aid the “original cells” in evolving into life? Natural selection, on the other hand, is basically survival of the fittest. In this process, individuals having traits that give a survival advantage tend to leave more offspring. These offspring then continue to pass on this survival trait. Notice that natural selection stays within boundaries. Cats aren't turning into dogs through natural selection, but they may be inheriting different color hair for camouflage so that their predators don't find them in certain environments. Natural selection stays within its “kind”(sort, variety, class). (Patterson AiG 237 ; Webster's)<br /></div><div align="left"></div><div align="left">One example of natural selection is a blind shrimp that thrives in cavern lakes. The blindness of the shrimp is passed on to its offspring because it is a beneficial (eyesight in continuous dark tends to bring disease to the eyes) mutation. This mutation is still a loss, no new information was added, it is not<br />an example of evolution. (Wieland Internet)</div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"> </div><div align="left">Lets say by random chance the “original cells” did evolve into the life we see on earth today. The formation of a 100-amino-acid protein by random chance is 4.9x10(to the -191st) and it is generally accepted that an event beyond the probability of 1x10(to the -50th) is impossible. If evolution did happen what<br />proof would we have today. First of all, wouldn't it be evident that humans (the more evolved) would have more DNA than bacteria (the less evolved)? The organism with the most DNA, though, is a bacterium called Epulopiscium Fishelsoni. It has at least twenty-five times more DNA than humans. </div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"></div><div align="left">Transitional forms of organisms in nature and in the fossil record would also be evidence for evolution. Where are these transitional forms? Every fossil you see is fully formed. The Nebraska man, thought to be a transitional form, turned out to be an extinct pig's tooth. Darwin even acknowledged the lack of<br />transitional forms. He said, “But, as by this theory, innumerable transitional forms must have existed. Why do we not find them embedded in countless number in the crust of the earth?” (Patterson AiG 80, 81, and 142 ; Mordente Internet)<br /><br /></div><div align="left">Evolutionists think the fact that humans share ninety-eight percent of a chimp's DNA is proof that we are close relatives. Since humans share fifty percent of their DNA with bananas, are bananas half human, or are humans half banana? The two percent difference in humans' and chimps' DNA is a<br />large difference in proteins produced. Its quite interesting to note that there are groups which are wanting apes to have human rights since they believe we are close relatives.(Patterson AiG 70, 219, and 228)<br /></div><div align="left"></div><div align="left">The Evolutionist's interpretation of the Fossil Record also has had a lot of problems. They believed that there could be no life in fossils thought to be three billion years old, but bacteria has been found in those kinds of fossils. Evolutionists also thought that dinosaurs lived seventy million years ago. Soft tissue has been found in dinosaur bones, how could this happen if they are seventy million years old? </div><div align="left"> </div><div align="left">According to evolutionists, mammals living during the dinosaur age were the size of rodents. Recently, fossils of large dinosaur-hunting mammals were discovered. Grass wasn't supposed to have been evolved till after the extinction of the dinosaur, but grass has been found in dinosaur dung. And how can there be fossils of plants and fish that were thought to be hundreds of thousands of years old but are still alive today and have barely changed (Ginkgo Biloba tree, Wollemi Pine, and the coelacanth fish)? Even after all these beliefs or interpretations of evolution have been proven wrong,<br />this theory is still taught in schools as fact. What has to be discovered to change this? (Patterson AiG 119, 157, 170, and 174 ; Hecht Internet ; Sherwin Internet)<br /></div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"> </div><div align="left">One system that can't be explained by evolution is irreducible complexity. An irreducibly complex system is a system that needs every single part to work. A mouse trap is an example of an irreducibly complex system; take away any part of the mouse trap and it will not work. Another irreducibly complex system which is crucial to life is the interaction of proteins with DNA. Many<br />proteins have to interact with DNA and DNA is needed to make proteins that are used to transcribe the DNA. How could DNA and the proteins evolve at the same time? The whole blood clotting process is another irreducibly complex system. If one part of the blood clotting process is missing, it wont work.<br />How could the blood clotting process evolve with out each part? Organisms that didn't have the fully formed blood clotting system would bleed to death if they got cut. One last example of irreducible complexity are the many instances where a specie needs another specie to survive (the food chain, symbiotic relationships, etc...). How did a specie survive without the other as they evolved? As you can see, this system of irreducible complexity is very difficult for evolution to explain. (Patterson AiG 79, 83, 86, and 160)<br /></div><div align="left"></div><div align="left">Another complication for evolution is the existence of morals (right and wrong). If I am just an evolved cell, how am I going to feel about myself, what will my self-worth be, and what is my reason for living? How do I determine what is right or wrong in the light of evolution? Morals then become<br />“relative”, whatever I think is right, is right. Let's consider what a couple of well learned and credible people are saying about evolution and Creation. According to two lawyers, Norman MacBeth and Phillip Johnson, if evolutionists had to<br />prove their case in court, evolution would have to be thrown out for lack of evidence. H.J. Lipson, Professor of Physics from the University of Manchester said, “I think we should go further than this and admit the only accepted explanation is creation. I know this is anathema to physicists, as it is to<br />me, but we must not reject a theory that we do not like if the experimental evidence supports it.” Colin Patterson, senior paleontologist at the American Museum of Natural History and author of museum articles on evolution according to Darwin said that beliefs in Creationism and Evolutionism are just a matter of faith. (Parker Internet ; Physics Bulletin 138 ; Mordente Internet)<br /></div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"> </div><div align="left">How does creation explain what evolution failed to? First of all, just as you need faith to believe evolution, you need faith to believe creation. Creationists believe that an intelligent designer created all that you see. According to the Bible, everything was made in six days. All that we see today are ancestors of the “original creation” and what we have today got here through a series of natural<br />selection (no changing from cells into humans was necessary since all was created in 6 days). The idea that the earth is only about 6,000 years old also comes from the Bible. The idea of “living fossils” is easier to understand if the earth is only 6,000 years old. Also, all of creation was originally created as<br />complex as it is now.Genesis 7, 8, and 9 (Bible) talks about a cataclysmic world wide flood. This flood could explain the Cambrian explosion which is a layer of rocks where an amazing variety of multicellular organisms occur suddenly (before this layer of fossils, there hadn't been much fossils). During the flood, many organisms could have been buried suddenly through landslides and earthquakes. </div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"> </div><div align="left">The flood also can explain why whole dinosaur and standing trees fossils have been found. If the dinosaur hadn't been buried instantly, scavengers would have scattered their bones. Had the tree not been suddenly buried,<br />part of it would have rotted in the length of time it takes to fossilize the whole tree.Creationists who believe the Bible believe that God made humans in His image, which gives humans self-worth. Also, right and wrong (morals) are clearly spelled out in the Bible. As you can see, evolution has many problems with its theory. Why then does evolution have such a monopoly on the Science classes of our public schools? In the early 20th century, only creation<br />was used in teaching the origin of man. Let's get back to our grass roots! What do you think is easier to believe? We evolved from cells through billions of years and random chance or, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth?” It takes less faith to believe the latter.</div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"> </div><div align="left">Bibliography<br />Darwin, Charles. We talked about the absence of transitional forms in fossils and about the fact that only creation used to be taught in science class. I also mentioned that we share ninety-eight percent of our DNA with apes and fifty percent with bananas. I know that some good seeds were planted in the lives of these three. Some said that it was like professional theatre, one couple said it was good enough to put on TV, my sister said that part of it reminded her of "The Phantom of the Opera". I was Fred, Scrooges' nephew.</span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Verdana;">Dec. 19th was my B-Day. Went to an open house thing where we had lunch and hung out till the Christmas Eve 7pm service. New Years eve we went to Church and that afternoon we went to an open house at a place dad and I have been doing the electrical at for about 6 months(this is the most comlpicated house wiring job dad has done in his 25 years of wiring, it had dimmers, MC wire, etc...). We then went to a New Years party in the Berryville area. We played 4-on-a-couch, What would you do if...I would..., and fireworks were shot off. HAPPY 2007!!! :-)</span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Verdana;">Here we are now and its Jan. 3rd...This is going to be the best year yet with growing in Christ, His blessing being poured out, and Awesome things happening in our lives that we never even suspected. I got here on Nov. 1st and will be here till the 13th. I've been hanging out and helping at my brother's gym that he started here in Dallas called Infiniti Health Club. Yesterday I hung out and helped at a place here in Dallas called Juice Zone.<br /><br />Sunday I visited D and A's church here in Dallas, Fellowship Church. They talked about Being the person God made You to be and don't look at others and try to be like them.<br /><br />Last night D and I visited a guy at a hospital here in Dallas, he's related to Jerry Seinfeld.<br /><br />Its fun hanging out with my brother, yesterday we put on some Cammys and went hiking in the area of where he lives...<br /><br />BTW, the other day I did a group work-out, it was called something like Turbo-kick, interesting, I tell you. If you ever need humbling just go to a gym and do a group work out ;-)<br /><br />Well, ttya'll later :-)<br /><br />ADP<br />(Jeremiah 29:11)<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/30414839-116290848990157219?l=maineiac1985.blogspot.com'/></div>Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03946905607620663099noreply@blogger.com4
