Lamprey happens to be your pet project, so you're fine with the expenditure. Other's would rather see it spent on roads, etc.

Secondly, invasives is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, threat to Vermont's resource based economy. That means not just fishing, but also hunting, timber, water sports, etc. We spend money on Lamprey, but what about invasives that have impacts in other areas? It won't be long and every shoreline will be 20 feet deep with reeds and the banks 20 feet deep with Mexican Bamboo. Nevermind Didymo or Alewives.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410145.post-19172058206313131322008-08-26T15:57:00.000-04:002008-08-26T15:57:00.000-04:00ps Vermont spent about 30,000 dollars on lamprey c...ps Vermont spent about 30,000 dollars on lamprey control as Ny and the feds both spent around 500,000 apiece. So don't give us the old they don't have the money ploy. Vermont has the best deal going as far as that goes.Ben Birchnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410145.post-50555481930426850772008-08-26T15:55:00.000-04:002008-08-26T15:55:00.000-04:00Wow, that is great news, The more streams that ar...Wow, that is great news, The more streams that are treated the faster things will progress.
And to you Mr anonymous, don't be a netgative nancy! The alewives are not proving to be the problem that everyone thought they were going to be. All of the fish I have caught this year have been fat and healthy except for the lampreys on them.
Alewives are here to stay we are just gonna have to accept that!
Thanks for the update Matt.
Ben BirchBen Birchnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410145.post-78495308963298449192008-08-26T13:04:00.000-04:002008-08-26T13:04:00.000-04:00Vermont doesn't have any money for this. Besides, ...Vermont doesn't have any money for this. Besides, why bother? Why spend the money, while at the same time do nothing about Alewives? And what is the solution to that?
