2008 dEUS tour starts tonight

The Vantage Point tour starts tonight, with dEUS playing at Mezz in Breda, Holland. I'll attend that concert, and many others: check out my dEUS tour diary for a personal account! Exclusive dEUS concert/contest

You know how dEUS are proud of their shiny new recording studio in Antwerp: most of their press photos were shot there, their website is based on studio footage and photos, even the Slow video was shot in there...

Now they're inviting fans into their Vantage Point studio! On April 20, they will play a very, very exclusive show to a selected audience of very, very lucky fans. They are apparently looking for the most dedicated fans all around Europe.

Contests will be launched in various media publications across the continent; the first one is organised by Holland's 3FM and is open to Dutch residents only.

Now that's some news: dEUS - with the old line-up featuring Rudy and Stef - will perform their Worst Case Scenario album at the Summercase festival on July 17! dEUS playing WCS? I'm booking a plane to Barcelona now! For more info, check out Bart's blog.

Update on the official site: a bunch of festivals have been added to the Vantage Point tour, including France, Scotland and Greece.

Release dates announced

A bunch of release dates have just popped up on dEUS.be.

Vantage Point will be released on April 18 on the European continent, on April 25 in the UK & Ireland and on May 21 in Japan. But the digital release will be on April 14 in Europe, on the 18th in Belgium and on the 21st in the UK. Nothing yet about the American release date.

Slow and The Architect will be released together on a single disc (a "double A-side").

The CD single will be available in Belgium on April 1st
The 7" vinyl picture disc ("very pretty", I've heard) will be released in Holland & Germany on April 11, and on April 21 in the UK
Digital release on April 7 in Europe and April 21 in the UK

New single, tour, website

Big news on the dEUS front!

New album Vantage Point will be released on April 21 (or 18), with contributions from The Knife's Karin Dreijer & Elbow's Guy Garvey.

The Architect is the name of the new single in Belgium, and Slow (feat. K. Dreijer) will be the first single elsewhere. No actual release date was announced, though.

There's a whole bunch of tour dates announced for this spring, including 6 massively sold-out dates in Belgian clubs. They'll also do Rock Werchter, and many festival dates are to be announced.

All this, and more, was announced last Monday by Tom himself on the fantastic new dEUS website.

New albums in 2008 and 2009

The new album will be finished on December 10th. It will be released in March 2008. And we might expect another dEUS-album in 2009.
In an interview with Veto Tom describes the new album as loud, eclectic and extravert. They will also tour the USA again, supporting bigger bands.
He also talks about his movieplans. Tom would like to have the scenario's for three movies finished within three years. He plans to start filming in 5 years.

As it's the most interesting interview in about 2 years, I translated the article for all you rabid, non-Dutch-speaking fans!

I have finally started updating this site. Nothing revolutionary: I merely intend to brush the dust off most pages by refreshing out-of-date stuff. The design and structure will not be altered for the time being. I will keep you informed of current changes at the bottom of the home page.

I will not post any dEUS news, though: Bart is doing a brilliant job with his Pocket Revolution blog And for current tour dates, there's Arthur and the official site of course.

dEUS at Vorst, 2nd!

So, yesterday dEUS set a new record for a Belgian band by selling all tickets (over 7000) for their March 1 gig at Vorst Nationaal in just 4 hours. As was to be expected, there'll be a secong gig at the same venue on the day after. Tickets will be on sale on Sherpa from Saturday at 9:00.
