There are new twists and ideas to classic photo's, yet getting something new is rare. I also believe that when as a photographer you capture emotion, you have captured the moment, that can not be duplicated or posed. This is the value of hiring a trained professional.
Capturing emotion, and "moments" is my job, and I strive to leave these images for your grandchildren, and great grandchildren. (I want you to like them too!)
Call me with any questions, 402.612.0932 www.mjbphotography.net

Michael Beckahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07579757639277571067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30290258.post-32824911641645315082009-04-08T07:21:00.000-07:002009-04-08T07:41:59.511-07:00O.K. so you have started to look for your photographer. As you shop, you may be overwhelmed at prices, styles, and how many photographers are out there.
Here is my advice to you as you start to shop.

1). Figure out what will need. If you just ask for a price, there may be things you will need that are not included. Engagement sessions, CD with copyright release, published albums are all things that may or may not be included in basic pricing.

2). Set your budget. Photography is one of those things that higher prices does not necessarily mean better photography. There are expensive photographers that you won't like, and affordable photographers who you may love. Shop around, and compare styles, not just prices.

3). Look for someone who is dedicated. With the economy being what it is, many people have recently became a "pro" photographer. People who do it as a second job may not be able to dedicate the time your photo project deserves. Look for experience! The technology of the digital camera is amazing, but it still boils down to having a good eye, and an artistic style. I started my career with film cameras, so I have learned about light, composition, and how a camera works.

4). Call me, and see if we can work something out.

Michael 402.612.0932
www.mjbphotography.net

Michael Beckahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07579757639277571067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30290258.post-23588580226981481022008-09-18T10:59:00.000-07:002008-09-18T11:13:16.386-07:00As you shop for a photographer, it may catch you off guard at how expensive it can be. Photography is one of those instances where price does not have to mean quality. There are many expensive photographers I love, and many I would not hire (even for less money).
One thing to understand is the time involved with a good session. I generally spend 2 times longer on the images after I shoot them. This will include uploading the images, photoshop, trips to the lab, and putting together the album.
When you include the meetings we will have, a 10 hour wedding package includes 40 hours of work. Include the price for prints and albums, pro equipment, studio rent, advertising, and taxes, it becomes clear how quality photography is expensive.
I keep my overhead down, and pass the savings on to my clientelle.
M.J.B. Be yourself, relax. Nothing worse than nervous, uncomfortable smiles.

2). Wear clothes that you like. Wear clothes that fit. Even if you have lost weight, and want to show it off, don't wear clothes that are too tight. If you are a blue jean and tennis shoe person, don't show up in a suit and tie. Of course we want newer, clean clothes, that are not too tight, or have overpowering colors or patterns.

3). Don't overdo the makeup. Wear your normal shades, and a little matte powder is good to reduce glare.

4). Look at yourself in the mirror, the mirror sees what the lense see's.

5). Keep you pockets empty.

6). Guy's, when shaving, use a fresh blade, and don't press too hard. No razor stubble.

7). Practice your smile. The best smiles are when you think of something that makes you happy, and you just smile. The worst smiles are when you just look at the camera and smile.
Try this, take a deep breath, let half of it out, look up and smile.
Laughter is also a great smile. Practice your laugh, so it is not too big of a smile, yet truly genuine.

Michael Beckahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07579757639277571067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30290258.post-28834883304759525982007-03-09T11:27:00.000-08:002007-03-09T11:36:35.764-08:00The new wedding season is just around the corner, and I am ready! I will be trying a few new things this year, and I think my brides will love the results. I have a couple of new lenses, and now have a portable wireless studio I can bring to the church. This will give more light for group portraits, and give me the opportunity to use creative lighting for individual, and couple portraits. I love weddings, and I am excited for this years tour. There are still some Saturdays open this year, and 2008 is starting to fill. Give me a call, to check your date.

Michael Beckahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07579757639277571067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30290258.post-1167950706748344232007-01-04T14:45:00.000-08:002007-01-04T14:45:06.830-08:00Rent my Studio
Have you ever wanted to try being a studio photographer? I will rent my equipped studio complete with wireless flash, and pro camera equipment at an affordable hourly rate. I will assist you in setting the lights and backdrops, and help you with poses. You then own your pictures, so you can go anywhere and print your images. If you are an aspiring photographer, or wish to try the studio before you make huge investments, this could be right for you. Even if you just have someone special you wish to photograph, and don't want to spend a ton on pictures, this could be for you. If you have your own camera equipment, the rate is $50.00 for the first hour and $25.00 each additional hour. With camera and lenses add $25.00 per session.

Michael Beckahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07579757639277571067noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30290258.post-1164809048335472272006-11-29T06:04:00.000-08:002006-11-29T06:04:08.436-08:00I have upgraded to a 1200 square foot full service portrait studio and offer a setting that not too many photographers in Omaha can offer. Blending natural light and studio flash can create a dramatic effect, also blocking all natural light and having complete control of the lights is equally effective. I am still offering creative portraiture, as well as traditional settings. Here is a special I am offering to all who read this blog: From now until March 15th I am waiving my sitting fee for groups of 4 and smaller. All I ask is a $60.00 deposit that will be credited to your order. I can accommodate larger groups, (up to 30 people!) and have reduced sitting fees for the larger groups. Prices for orders are very affordable, 8"X10" photos are $20.00, 5"X7" are $7.00. I will customize a package to meet your needs. If you have wanted to have your portaits taken, but keep putting it off, now is the time. Give me a call, to set up an appointment. I know in my family, relatives have so many pics, that they can not find the one they are looking for. Many of them are not worth saving anyway. My question to you is, do you want quality, or quanity? I guess everyone wants both, but what do you want from your professional photographer? All replies appreciated. Omaha photography

Michael Beckahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07579757639277571067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30290258.post-1155645813526979762006-08-15T05:43:00.000-07:002006-08-15T05:43:33.683-07:00Photojournalism for wedding pictures is more popular than ever, and as I compare my style to other area photographers, I see many people say they are pure photojournalists, yet they have "candid" pics that are completely posed. If you want journalism, and then your photographer is telling the groomsmen to act like your holding the groom back, or orchestrating other posed candids, this is not true wedding photojournalism. The best candids are pure, and capture emotion. Sometimes I will shoot 20 images to record the one spontaneous split second reaction. I offer both the posed, and photojournalistic prints. After the formals are done, I will not posing you all day long. Most important is you like your photographers style, personality, professionalism, finished product, and price. Omaha photography

Michael Beckahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07579757639277571067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30290258.post-1152368593956549122006-07-08T07:19:00.000-07:002006-07-08T07:23:13.956-07:00

Michael Beckahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07579757639277571067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30290258.post-1152366131389447252006-07-08T06:21:00.000-07:002006-11-20T08:24:40.296-08:00Senior picture season is begining, and there are so many options, and prices to choose from. My approach to senior pictures, is to make the session a relaxed, fun, affordable experience. This way we get natural settings, and smiles. Sunday sessions, you get two photographers. Karli is a photography student, at UNO, and will be helping out. She is creative, and talented, and offers a different perspective for some of your photo's.
Something unique I offer on the $399 package, is the option to trade the units that would come with your package, for the CD, with a release. This way you can make as many copies as you need, at an affordable rate.
Complete packages including 10 units of prints, start at $299, and you keep the proofs. All digital enhancements, are included.

Michael Beckahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07579757639277571067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30290258.post-1151339058999235022006-06-26T08:54:00.000-07:002006-06-26T23:42:54.836-07:00Welcome. I am going to use this blog to discuss professional photography in Omaha. There are many options available in the digital world, and depending on your needs, there are ways to ensure satisfaction, and make budget. My name is Michael J. Becka, and I have been photographing weddings since 1986. In 2005 I opened my studio on Farnam St., and began offering portraiture. My objective since I began, has been to offer a quality product, at an affordable price.By keeping my overhead down, I can pass the savings on to my clientele. I feel I offer the best value in Omaha for families looking to spend their budget on the photo's, not the album. Many affordable photographers are available lately, primarily because of the advance in digital cameras. Questions to ask your affordable photographers. 1). What brand, and model camera, and lense do you use? Look up the models online, and see if the equipment is professional grade. Many "pro" photographers are using amature, or prosumer equipment. 2). Do you have backup equipment? Many affordable photographers are new, and only have one setup. What happens if this setup fails? 3). How much experience do you have? Many of the new photographers have talent, but not experience. 4). Is this your full time job? Many of the new breed are "weekend warriors" and do weddings on the side. How much time can they dedicate to your photo's, and your album. In most cases, you will have to make compromises in at least some of these areas. Not at M.J.B. Photography.

Michael Beckahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07579757639277571067noreply@blogger.com0
