Bill was a senior lecturer at Haas since 1992 and helped thousands of students improve their communication and leadership skills. He was accompanied by his wife and daughter at the time of his death. Bill had been serving as a special advisor to the President of Madagascar for the last few months. The President, commenting on Bill's contributions to his country, indicated that Bill had been by far the most effective advisor that he had ever had.
