Grandstreet Theatre School presents "The Secret
Lives of Toads". 4:30 and 7:00 on Wednesday April 29th.
Put on by Marianne's 5th and 6th grade students.
This play is clearly educational, comedic and
related to actual life (minus the frogs). Harvey
(Connor Whyte) is getting ready for his first day
at a brand new school. On Harvey's arrival he is
disliked by everyone he sees but soon finds two
friends. Barrie (Darci Caldwell) and Cissy (Carrie Stine). He
also comes across the "queen"....Darla (Savannah
Smith). Darla has a group. Sharla, Marla,
Judy and Jane. They aren't that nice to Harvey
"The NEW kid". But with his two new friends and some
unexpected help he finds his way.
Come on the awkward adventure with us and
Harvey, and discover the true meaning of "friends."

Auditions for Seussical, Jr

Auditions dates are April 27 & 28 at 7:00 p.m.
Please bring 16-32 measures of a song to sing.
Production dates are: June 12 & 13 at 7:00 p.m.

Our annual Banquet will be May 13th at 6:30 p.m at Helena Regional Airport. There will be door prizes, scholarships, awards, entertainment, food and lots of laughs. Come and help us celebrate the end of a fabulous year and send off our wonderful senior class in style. The seniors that are graduating are: Kirsten Aasen, Kathleen Bush, Sarah Dramstad, Brennan Folsom, Errol Koch, Emily Newton, Sydney Nordhagen, Aven Satre Meloy and Chris Vogl.

Showcase Schedule Announced!

All classes will perform a 15 minute production for our Spring Showcase on either April 25th or 26th. The schedule is as follows:

Tickets will go on sale Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Each cast member is allowed to purchase two tickets. We will most likely have NO extra tickets to sell this day because the theatre only seats 200. If there are extra tickets they will go on sale at 1:30 p.m. If you know you will not be using your tickets please let the box office at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Cost of tickets is $5.00.

Scholarship Auditions- May 2, 2009

Scholarship auditions will be held May 2nd at the theatre. This is your opportunity to win a full or half tuition scholarship to our
Summer Theatre School. Or you can win a $150.00 scholarship for any performing arts camp . Application deadline is April 20, 2009.
You should prepare 3 application packets that include:
Picture and resume
One letter of recommendation
Application form
Your audition should include:
A short introduction
Two (one for elementary students a 90 second time limit) contrasting pieces (two monologues or one monologue and one song or two songs) less than 2 1/2 minutes total.

If you are unable to attend you may submit a dvd.

Summer School update

Most of the 3-12th grade classes are almost full.
2nd grade- there are three spots left
Kindergarten- 1st grade- four spots left
Really Beanies (4 year olds)- there are two spots left

Make sure to get your registration form in early! $50.00 will hold your spot and full payment will get you a lower number assigned for signing up for electives.

Crew Points are back

After a long vacation (many years) we have brought back the Crew Point system. Here is how it works:

In order to audition for the Christmas show you will need a certain amount of crew points. These are points gained for working backstage, ushering, volunteering at Grandstreet of any kind, and help in the classroom. Of course this year we will be very generous but next fall ('09) you will have to have all your crew points in order to audition. We will also give a crew point scholarship at the banquet in May to the person with the most crew points.

To record your crew points you just write your name in the crew point book that is in the classroom and record the number of points earned.

Kindergarten through 4th graders need 1 crew point.
5th through 8th graders need 2 crew points.
High School needs 3 crew points.

Examples:
Ushering for one show= 2 crew points
working backstage= 2 crew points per show
One hour of helping build a set or put costumes away=2 crew points
Helping a teacher with something in class= 1 crew point
There are other ways to earn them and teachers will give them out as they see volunteer work happening.

We feel it is important to understand that community theatre and good shows don't just happen, it takes a lot of volunteer work. Thanks!
