It is indeed a country gone mad (and stupid). My wife and I will be giving as much money as we can afford to give -- plus some more -- to the Red Cross. Our hearts are broken for New Orleans, and for the good people and pets left to die from neglect.

I wish there were a way to flush the entire Administration down the crapper -- PURGE THEM (without going 'Lee Harvey' on them that is) -- and put truly competent leadership back in place. Political hacks and sub-par top executives have proven the validity and necessity of this viewpoint in spades.

How many more "9/11"-style events can our nation afford to go through? And isn't it ironic that the New Orleans tragedy neatly corresponded with the four-year anniversary of "9/11"? Perhaps we need to remember, and FAST.

And what about the National Guard? Weren't they created to help out with situations like this? Oh, that's right. We sent them off to Viet...I mean, Iraq instead.

FEMA needs a complete overall. You don't issue the mandatory evacuation of an entire city without the means to get everyone out! Did NOLA not include the evacation of all residents in its disaster recovery plan?!? Has FEMA NEVER considered the possibility of having to rescue and relocate large portions of a city's population?

I suddenly can't breath...I'm choking on the idea that a C-student is running our country, that his mother is a racist, elitist bitty, that the VP gave the clean up job to his pals at Halliburton, and that hundreds of people who could have been saved or helped were not.
