OCTOBER 2008 PROGRAMME

See some other local events that Breakaway Club members will be attending.

An important message from the bar staff:

Please be aware that the basement bar does not open until 8.30pm.

Visitors to the club arriving before 8.30pm are politely asked to get their drinks
from the upstairs bar. Thank you.

Tuesday 30th September 8.30 – 11pm Club
Night at The Charles Dickens. Dancing, socialising, a drink or two maybe,
raffle, snowball and door prize for members plus the opportunity to put your name down to
go to a variety of social events, some subsidised by the club such as the Alley Skittles in
November.

Sunday 5th October Sunday Lunch. The Charles Dickens is
now serving traditional Sunday roasts. For those wishing to dine out, let Malcolm know
by Thursday evening so he can make the booking, as the pub had to turn people
away last week. This will be an ongoing arrangement for the 1st Sunday in every
month.

Tuesday 7th October It’s the Breakaway Clubs AGM starting
at 9pm. It usually is over within 20 minutes so please still come along for the social
evening if not the meeting.

Sunday 12th October This may be our last Putting this year. Meet at
the Arundel Leisure Park which is on the right on the road to Swanbourne Lake just past
the Castle. Meet there at the café at 10.30am for coffee to get us going. Those that would
like to can have lunch afterwards at a venue decided by the group at the time.
(For anybody planning to come to this, remember the railway bridge on the A27 at Arundel
will be closed to traffic today. <a

Tuesday 14th October 8.30 – 11pm Club Night
at The Charles Dickens. Music to dance to played as usual by one of our volunteer DJs;
raffle and members’ snowball and door prize.

Sunday 19th October Walkies! Take a flask and picnic and
meet at 10am in the road outside the Ricardo factory which is on the west side of the old
Shoreham toll bridge. First there will be a 50 minute stroll by the river and the houseboats,
returning over the newly refurbished toll bridge which was built in 1781. After a coffee
break back at the cars comes the “real walk”, a 7 mile circular up onto the
Downs for some panoramic views of the river. Join Keith for one or both of these walks. <a

Tuesday 21st October 8.30 – 11pm Club
Night at The Charles Dickens. Dance the evening away or just have a drink
and socialise. There will be the usual raffle, and snowball and door prize for members.

Friday 24th October DARTS NIGHT and guess where? Here at the
Charlie D! As I am writing this it is unknown if a supper will be provided by the pub or if it
has to be brought in, so please put your names down and watch the notice board for
details. Thanks.

Saturday 25th October Bonfire Night in Littlehampton, always a great
evening with a smashing firework display. Ring Malcolm if you would like to go.
He’s the man arranging the meeting time and place.

Tuesday 28th October 8.30 – 11pm Club Night
at The Charles Dickens. There’s music to dance to if you’re the energetic
type, or just have a drink and socialise. All are welcome to take part in the raffle and for
members there is the added chance of winning the club snowball and the £5 door prize for
those arriving before 9.30pm.

Friday 31st October Halloween Party at Gordon’s.
This is limited to 40 due to the fact Gordon does not live in the Tardis! Please see notice
board for details and if there is room for you if you have not already put your name
down.
