The Legendary Eartha Kitt has died of colon cancer, she was 81. Singer, actress, Broadway performer and activist, her career spanned six decades. I always thought that she was an ageless bundle of fierce energy, and I always looked up to her and how she refused to let the struggles of racism and sexism keep her from succeeding and becoming an American icon. Google her when you have a chance today, and read about her life. There aren't too many performers nowadays who can dominate both stage and screen, Eartha did so with a flirtatious spunk and a warm elegance that always left a smile on your face whenever you saw her.

Well done Madame, well done.

Weekend Shopper

I thought I'd share some of my favorite pieces from my shopping trips this weekend. I absolutely love the Nocturne II flexi hair from Detour. It has a beautiful texture and a nice movement to it. The mufflers from Creamshop are fabulous and will compliment a lot of outfits perfectly, and there are tons of colors to choose from. Lastly the chocolate tote bag from SLink is a like buttah! The leather texture is great and this bag can be worn with all the casually chic outfits in your wardrobe. Happy shopping!

A Year in SL, OMG!

Today's my Rez Day, I can't believe it's been a year already! Who knew surfing the net one day and coming across Second Life would actually lead to a second life! Overall it's been a great year full of hard work, lessons, rewards, fun and laughter. I have a lot planned in the coming year, starting with a new virtual television show called "Fabulous Fashion" that will start taping in October on SLCN TV so stay tuned! Shout out to all the folks who have made my first year in SL a fabulous one, I had a blast and I look forward to another great year. Despite all the drama and grid hiccups SL is still a great place to develop creativity, skills and friendships, and at the end of the day, that's what it's all about, at least to me anyways. Smooches!

In Remembrance

I joined SL last year a week or so after 9/11, so this is the first year that I am remembering the anniversary inworld. I worked at World Trade Center, and I was extremely lucky in that I wound up in a crowd with thousands of New Yorkers running over the Brooklyn Bridge to get out of Manhattan. It was a day of disbelief and mass confusion. Every anniversary affects me in a different way, I feel like this year was a little harder than last year, I don't know why. The last couple of days I have gone from sharing all of my experiences with friends to not wanting to talk about it at all. Memories have a way of wanting to be recalled on their own terms, and the last couple of days have left me a little angry. But as all of you that have gone through anything traumatic know, all you can do is work through it and hope for a better day. And no matter what emotions I go through I count my blessings because there were others who weren't as fortunate as I was and who never made it home.

So take some time on this day to think of the survivors, the ones we have lost, and the heroes, the firefighters, the cops, the EMS workers, and all the brave civilians who helped to save so many lives that day.

Here's some information about a memorial that will take place inworld:

On 9.11.08 At approx 8:30 AM Eastern Time "9.11 Never Forget - A Memorial in Second Life” will take place in Second Life at the New York, NYC Sim at the World Trade Center Memorial. This event will be hosted by Melody Regent and her staff at Regent Estates. All are invited to attend and be a part of this very special day of remembrance in which the names of all of the almost 3000 people who perished in the terrorist attacks of 9.11.01 will be read by residents from SL Fashion, Music, Art, Builders, TV, Bloggers, Podcasters and others who have donated their time and efforts to take part. The “9/11 Firefighters Memorial Wall in SL” by Second Life builder "Talin Sands" will be unveiled . If you miss the 8:30 AM reading of the names you can still stop by the sim later in the day when it will be replayed again throughout the day on the music stream.

Bandana Day 2008

Today is the day to wear your Bandana in support of Locks of Love, an organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.

The bandana's can be bought on any of the Hair Fair sims, they are 50L and once you buy them you can pass them on to friends. All money from the sale of the Bandana's goes to Locks of Love.

The Hair Fair is coming to a close today, so make sure you head over there to get some last minute shopping in. It's for a good cause!

Doing the RunoRuno

RunoRuno is a great new shop with a small selection of fabulous pieces. Designer Jojorunoo Runo created some really great knits and they can be a great addition to your wardrobe. There are only 6 pieces in the line so far, but JoJo shows a lot of promise and I can't wait to see future releases.

I'm The Laziest Blogger Ever!

Actually I've been really busy in SL with work and haven't had time to post much, but I got a pleasant surprise from Sheltered Heart of House of Heart this week. I was selected as a finalist in the HOH photo contest, along with some other really talented beauties. House of Heart makes some really fabulous hair and is definitely a worth visit.

German Fashion & Style Event

Make sure you stop by the German Fashion & Style event, currently going on at the Vanity Universe sim. Another great idea headed up by the lovely Nadja Baxter, the event runs until June 16 and features some really great designers from Austria, Switzerland, the USA and the Netherlands. There's also a photo contest, the deadline is June 5th.

PXL Skin Creations: Linda Dark

I love the fact that more and more skin designers are making deep brown skins a staple in their collections, and I have begun to collect a really sweet collection of fabulous chocolate skins. This week PXL Creations will release their new Linda Dark skin.

The Linda Dark is a rich milk chocolate that looks great in all of lighting. The facial definitions are distinct and the makeup is deep in color yet not overdone so you can wear it casually during the day.

When selecting skins I also pay attention to the body, with summer coming up you want the skin to look perfect when wearing your bathing suits and lighter clothing. PXL passed the test with excellent detail and attention given to the shoulder blades and back, the elbows and behind the knees. The hands are also well done and the navel is gorgeous.

Linda comes in various skin tones and makeup, and when released Linda Dark will also be available with different makeup options. Linda Dark only comes with black eyebrows, but all Linda skins are modifiable so you can adjust them to your taste.

Hot Find: ROLE OPTIC Sunglasses

I have a serious collection of eyewear, and I thought I'd never have a need to buy another pair shades, glasses or sunglasses but I was wrong. The pair below are called Eternity by Role Optic and they are fabulous! They are the ultimate pair of sunglasses for this summer and can be a staple accessory for every season after that. Designers Rohal Schnyder and Leeza Catteneo have broken the mold by providing a set of drop down options that give you with an endless choice of stylish options.

When you visit the store you will see a small but great collection of styles for both men and women. Clicking on your lens gives you a drop down menu where you can choose a variety of combinations. For the frames you have different choices in colors and textures, for the lenses you can choose color, transparency, gradients and reflections. There is an option for the bling crowd, you can resize them and a HUD is included. And to top it off they have even included an animation that allows you to move the sunglasses from your face to your head! Now that's Hot!

The 8 Prim Bed

When I used to live on land that had a maximum prim count of 465, finding fabulous low prim furniture was a serious challenge, and required me to be creative. In my hunt to find the best low prim pieces, I found a cool furniture store called Del Sol Furniture Owned by designer Xandi Mars, Del Sol is a huge store across two sims, filled to the brim with some really great pieces. Way over to the side of the store I spotted what I thought was genius, separate pieces that you could use to build your own bed.

I bought six pieces, 3 of the bed platforms in silver, gold and black, two pillows (that come with their own bed poses), and the mattress. You can lay these pieces any way you like, and the mattress and pillows are tintable. It's simple, modern, and sexy. I still use this bed today even though I live on a larger lot because it's still my favorite. Thank you Xandi!
