Congratulations to Mr. Crane and Mr. Goodman, who just closed the books on another year in Western Washington elementary schools. No word on how many failing grades needed to be dished in 08-09.

D. Crane is now out-of-the-country and was last sighted at a Travelodge in London, England with this hearty beard. Very Roderick circa 2000!

Back at home, the M's are 3 games above .500, over 50% of LP3 is finalized and another new song has surfaced.

An update from Tacoma's Catescape Recording Co:

We've faked before, but production of the soon-to-be-named LP3 has officially reached fever pitch. BOAT has set-up shop up and down the I-5 corridor from Portland to Tacoma to Seattle's northern-most city limits to ensure the highest track count possible. Mixing is under-way under the supervision of this beast, Lando (top).

Count on classic BOAT maximalism. For now, hear the songs at the Comet where they will be accompanied by confetti and delivered with precision.

Tomorrow at 9pm, BOAT will be playing three 30 minute mini sets at the Seattle International Film Festival. This performance will take place outside of the Paramount Theater on 9th Ave. Does BOAT have 90 minutes worth of songs? Will "The Ferocious Sounds of Lobsters and Snakes" include a ten minute guitar solo? How can it not?

To get into the show, one must have a SIFF Opening Night Gala pass. BOAT still has plans to get James Gandolfini onstage playing tambourine, or at least shaker.

As BOAT wraps up recording of LP#3, they will also be playing a May show. This show will be part of the May 21st, 2009, opening night gala for the SEATTLE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL.

The band will be playing somewhere on the street/in a tent next to the Paramount Theater.

To celebrate their 10th Anniversary, Magic Marker is releasing a boxed set of five extremely limited 7 inch records. Each side will feature a Magic Marker band covering another Magic Marker band.

BOAT covers The Faintest Ideas song "Nosebleeders on the Track." It was recorded in a matter of hours and minutes and features J. Goodman taming the mighty Rickenbacker bass (a late game substitution for the immutable M. McKenzie), and brassy/classy lead guitar. J. Long attends to super muscular rock drums, slappy claps, and husky background vocals, while D. Crane plays sparse melodica, unhinged bellkit, wedding band handclaps, loose crunch guitar, and sings in a slightly Euro accent through a tape recorder!

Allegedly, these 7 inch box sets will be available at the Anniversary show in Portland on February 7th. be there!

On Saturday February 7th, 2009, BOAT will be playing as part of Magic Marker Records 10 year anniversary show in Portland, at the Someday Lounge. It is an all ages show, and features the Galactic Heroes (reforming for this one off show!), Dear Nora (original lineup), and the irreputable Tullycraft.

This show is worth the drive! It will be spectacular.

Here is a link to a performance at Andy and Jen's living room in Boston. You will indeed have to open as a new window.

Andy and Jen have a Podcast called "Flophouse Sessions." BOAT was invited to play there this summer on a Monday morning before their Boston show.

Admittedly, D. Crane's voice was about as hoarse, tired, and soaked in guacamole as it has ever been. This was the day, that the Creeping Weeds van was broken into, so they did not join BOAT at the Flophouse as planned. With Z. Duffy on Hammond organ, J. Long on mini drumkit/WuHan cymbal, M. McKenzie on mini Stratocaster, and D. Crane on viola bass and (borrowed/found on top of the Hammond organ) aviator shades, the band sails through eight songs and a theme song.
