Great result for Seaworlf down racing on the Spanish circuit - This Pronavia 38 is based out of Gibraltar and available for RYA training as well as race training.

"The Sotogrande Winter league reached its finale this weekend, with the unfortunate last minute cancellation of the final race in the series. This resulted in Victory being awarded to Seawolf of Southampton as we had a 7 point lead prior to the cancellation.
After 8 closely fought races commencing back in October 2008 the final points standing, taking in to account 1 discard are:
• First..........Seawolf of Southampton.....10 points
• Second....Midasound(Fendemares)...17 points
• Third.........Titicaca...................................20 points
Training and racing throughout this series with a mostly novice crew, makes the sucsesfull out come all the more rewarding. Well done to everybody who sailed with us. "

Light winds on the Myth of Malham (Round Eddystone)

As per my previous post it was a pretty painful race with very light wind if any at all.
A huge congratulations to Geoff on his Pronavia 38 TANGAROA for taking first place in IRC2.

It was the first race and only second time on Bongani for the new Fastnet team and after a catastrophic navigation error that left them drifting past Hurst castle, whilst the rest of the fleet continued down the needles channel at 4kts, they managed to claw back a huge amount to finish 13th

The Guys on Seawolf down in Gibraltor have an amazing deal on - £130 for a weekends sails - the Ceuta yacht race.

Saturday 2nd May is the date set for the Sotogrande to Ceuta yacht race, organised by the Real Club Maritimo de Sotogrande. This popular event will start at approximately 1100 in the morning, the quickest yachts will finish in the region of 3hours crossing the line between the pillars of Hercules, guarding Ceuta harbour entrance.

What an exciting year of yacht racing ahead, with the majority of places now sold for the 2009 Fastnet race ( there are still a few left so please contact us sooner rather than later, or visit our race partners site to find out how to book a place for the 2009 Fastnet Race)

The other highlight of the year is the 2009 Rolex Middle Sea Race for which there are some places left, the race is being entered by Atlantic Charters Racing (Gibraltar based) and they will be campaigning their Pronavia 38 (Sea Wolf). This includes training in Gibraltar and on board sister ship Bongani in the UK. There will also be delivery opportunities ( RYA mile building), from Gibraltar to Malta and back, approx 800 miles each way.

Jaguar Logic GBR 7382R

‘Jaguar’ was designed by Christian Stimson and built by Harley Race Boats of Cowes, Isle of Wight. She was launched in June 1999, as the third yacht of a fleet of 10 racing charter boats for Sir Robin Knox-Johnston’s company, Clipper Ventures. In September 2002 Clipper Ventures suspended their Reflex 38 charter operations and Jaguar was bought by Allie Smith, Managing Director of Sailing Logic Ltd, and re-named Jaguar Logic in May 2003. Allie has owned Jaguar Logic since then.

Jaguar Logic is ideal for anyone looking for a good value, solid, competitive racing yacht in ‘ready to go’ condition. She is available to place straight into the charter market and is VAT reclaimable. If she is kept in current management, she has good charter bookings available for 2009 season including Warsash Spring Series, Round the Island Race, Fastnet Race and Little Britain Challenge Cup. Jaguar is generally regarded as one of the best equipped and probably one of the fastest two of the Reflex 38 fleet (Puma Logic being the other) and has many successes racing under IRC (see list).

She was used lightly until 2005 when she started racing regularly with Sailing Logic and achieving the results as set out below. She has been fully optimised for racing with a revised deck layout including double downhaul system, double vang system, upgraded purchase back stay system and upgraded multi-purchase system for genoa cars. She has a new rig (Z-Spars) plus new rod rigging in August 2008 and is due her mid-term Mecal survey in March 2009.

She is berthed at Shamrock Quay Marina with berthing fully paid until March 31st, 2009.

A blast around the island in October

A great day was had by all, we left Lymington at 8am, and was back in Hythe at 4pm, a very quick sail round with amazing weather for this time of year.

Once in a while when we know the weather is going to be terrible we always allow the client to change the date of their charter, in the case of this last weekend the client decided to go sailing despite the weather.
Now when a client decides to go, there are 2 items on the agenda, firstly safety and secondly making sure you can have fun. Safety is without doubt the most important and especially when you are expecting a blow, but the fun aspect goes to another level in these conditions. Yes you are going to get wet and wind swept - but the speed and adrenalin are going to be great.

I arrived in the office this morning with wet gear every where, and the yacht interior was positively moist, but the smiles on the clients faces and the reports back from them told a story of total enjoyment. Obviously we are not all fair weather sailors and it seems that even these very windy, cold and extremely wet days can be enjoyed just as much.

The last race of the Sotogrande Winter League was run on Saturday 24th May. We are proud to say, Seawolf finished a respectable 4th overall out of 21 local race yachts competing in the 7 races in the series.

Our next forthcoming regatta is a 3 day event hosted by the Sotogrande Yacht Club. He has put together a package which includes the following:

Sotogrande IX Copa - 11-17 August 2008

Our main event for the year is entry into the renowned Rolex Middle Sea Race in October. The race starts in Malta heading north along the eastern coast of Sicily, up through the Straits of Messina and past some spectacular views of Etna and Stromboli and finishing back in Malta.
