Rumour has it that these magnificent figures had nothing to do with thier respective abililties but more to do with new secret weapon John "Persil" Winter and his new extra shiny england sweater and its obvious blinding abillity. The editor suggests that John makes his jumper a little grubbier otherwise he may become a walking fine on tour.

So with only 99 to get Oakwood could not have got off to a worse start with Kitchen(0) falling again before Trauber (54NO) and Hill (30) put togther a great partnership with some fine strokeplay between them mercilessly shredding the warnham attack. Alough a few late wickets fell at the end the Hill eased themseleves wffortless to the win.

It was great to see the robot return to some of is old mechanical best and Jay Hill, well we just hope his new stunt double turns up next week!

Fielding moment of the day - quick reactions of D Bishop to the ever safe handed D Foot to affect a run out.

Shot of the day - A huge Trawbinated six over the punch bowl - job well done all!

Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15594552948591440889noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29751131.post-55430173966716997832008-06-27T11:35:00.002Z2008-06-27T11:39:28.715ZSome little treats from the Presentation Evening....I couldnt help but notice these video clips on youtube the other day which had gone under my radar and appeared on youtube.com - loving the comment "Two loved-up middle-aged men sing, nay, destroy... Some power hitting by Chappers, new cap Jonny, West, Bowers and the Duke.

This score was way too much for Ewhurst with some paricularly tight bowling from Hanky who showed the way with some full and tidy bowling. p.s. Swampy really likes him - read into that what yo will!

The Hill were indebted to the amazing fielding skills of the Northern Monkeys with both of them showing what they were capable of. A dynamic catch, a run out and a nothing gets by attitiude from Kitch and a dropped catch at the end from newly named 'Smitty'.

Ewhurst were all bowled out for just over 110.

More details to follow....

Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15594552948591440889noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29751131.post-61050005281143200372008-06-18T12:55:00.003Z2008-06-18T13:59:39.690ZOHCC in disappointing loss to Abinger CCOn a cloudy but warm afternnon the Hill won the toss and elected to bat against Abinger CC on a dry but soft under the foot type surface.

Kitchen and Palmer opened up for the Hill. Palmer looked to struggle a little early but Kitchen looked to be in excellent touch until he again spooned a soft catch to cover.
Dave Foot came and soon went after a running mix up which may result in further players joining Camp at the Kamikaze school of running. Skipper Bowers(39) came in next and played a careful & mature innings as the bowling of Abinger bowled tightly and gave nothing away easily.
He was ably supported with some lusty blows from Greg "The crab" Palmer (26) and saturday skipper Spitz(31). Near the end of the innings, well it just kind of just fizzled out with some tight bowling leaving Danger man mouse marrooned with a couple of balls to spare with the Hill finishing on 168 all out.

So after the usual crusty loaf for tea with some Brie and Ham the Hill went out knowing only a tight bowling performance would secure a victory.
Things started well with the unusual sight of 2 spinners opening up, with the Ram (0-21) and Bowers (2-30) bowling tightly and bogging down the Abinger batsmen.
The Hill always seemed to have a glimmer of hope but some often waywood bowling let the young flame haired Raper see them home with a composed 69 despite a little wobble, the Abinger batsmen got home safely and secured a win by two wickets.

Hindsight is a great things but despite the tight bowling of Abinger the Hill probably did not score enough runs - Batsmen take heed. The sometimes waywood bowling didnt help either as did a few downed catches althought the editor does appreciate that they were not easy catches. I aint no bowler but how many times did you see their batsmen hit through the V's... this if often a good sign of good bowling.... answers on a postcard.

The editor would like to note that the after match fighting between Chappers and Bishop will NOT be tollerated in future. The verbal disagreemnet over some money laundering led to some lusty blows. We are though looking forward to the rematch... the THrilla at the Hill-a... Still damp outfield and spongy wicket.

Kitch & Chappers opened. Chappers started in usual aggressive style smashing a 3 massive sixes. However the Wonersh bowlers bowled very discipled lines and the Hill couldn’t get away, making steady progress until Chappers was bowled by Kenyon in the17th over, leaving the Hill 75 for 1. Kitch soon followed, tamely spooning Kenyon to cover for 21, 90 for 2. Footzy was next to go for a swift 16, he top edging Lloyd to be caught at mid-wicket, now 100 for 3. This brought the ‘massive’ presence of Gillett in to join Bowers. Both battered confidently as the Hill looked to increase the pace to enable an earlier declaration. The highlight been a straight 6 from Gillett that hit a parked car. Brett fell 4 short of his fifty, this lift OHCC 193 for 4 from 38 overs. Greg was next in for what proved to be the last over. Bowers reached his fifty from 62 balls and promptly declared on 204 for 4 from 39 overs. Greg didn’t actually face a ball, but ran eagerly, thanks for coming! A fine around batting display, partnerships of 78 (Kitch & Chappers) and 93 (Bowers & Gillett) put the Hill in a strong position.

Wonersh requiring 205 from their 46 overs.
Danger and Camp opened the bowling, and a breakthrough was made in the 4th over, with Camp claiming the wicket of the opener Miller, with some excellent work behind the stumps from Footzy, 9 for 1. Camp followed up with another short wide ball to claim the other opener Bawden, in his next over, excellently caught by Footzy again, 15 for 2. The pressure was applied further by a splendid delivery from Camp to remove Humphris, squared up and caught at 2nd slip by the Duke, 16 for 3. Dano bowled well without reward, and was replaced in the attack by Jay. Shutts & C Hill steadied the innings and made it to drink unscathed. Jay soon claimed a wicket with and awful dismissal, trapping Shutts LBW with a slow short ball, 27 for 4. Spitz replaced Camp at the Punch Bowl end and bowled economically with little success. Bowers replaced Jay and instantly got another breakthrough bowling R Miller, 57 for 5 with 25 overs remaining. Bowers soon struck again trapping the stubborn C Hill LBW, leaving Wonersh in real trouble at 68 for 6. Spitz finally joined the party and removed J Hill and Lloyd in the same over both caught and bowled, well deserved wickets after some steady bowling, 71 for 8. Another wicket fell in the next over, Bowers bowling Grabowski for 1, leaving Wonersh 71 for 9. The Hill now needing the final wicket with 15 overs remaining, and Wonersh needing 130 to win! Clark & Kenyon dug deep and managed to repeal all that the Hill through down at them. Alex, Bowers, Camp, Dane, and then Camp again couldn’t make the vital last breakthrough, the match ending in a draw.

A winning draw gave OHCC 17pts, Wonersh’s 6. A disappointing day, Wonersh never attempted to go for the win, even after winning the toss at 1:30, however OHCC were within victory, needing the last wicket with 15 overs remaining and fell agonisingly short.

Spitzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05253114243511335553noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29751131.post-56734885714831807012008-06-01T19:13:00.003Z2008-06-01T19:25:21.344ZCamp To attend Kamikaze school in JapanAfter Matt Camps recent running between the wickets, running out both the northern monkeys with some horendous running which we'll hopefully never see in a league game www.oakwoodhillcc.com are pleased to annouce Matthew Camp has been accepted into the prestigious Tokkotai Kamikaze training school located on Skikoku island in southern Japan.

Commander Asaiki Tamai of the Tokkotai Kamikaze school is quoted as saying:-

"Matthew Camp has shown excellent suicidal tendencies when running between the wickets and we look forward to him bringing his unique skill set to our highly prestigious school."

www.oakwoodhillcc.com hopes to bring you Bishops guide to running between the wickets very soon - watch this space!

Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15594552948591440889noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29751131.post-73706900106401249982008-05-30T16:43:00.002Z2008-05-30T16:43:18.488ZOHCC winning by 7 wickets and picking up 27pts.OHCC ease to victory over Westcott.

The second instalment of the weekend, saw the Hill at home to table topping Westcott. Bowers lost the toss, however Westcott elected to field, on a sunny but cool day at the Hill.

Kitch and Luke opened and made a cracking start, Luke with some expansive play with Kitch playing a supporting role. Once the opening bowlers were seen off, after 14 overs, the Hill accelerated the scoring and both players reached fifties unscathed within 20 overs. The fantastic opening partnership was finally broken on 139, when Luke lazily slogged Moore toward mid-wicket and was caught on the boundary. This brought Spitz to the crease, who hand been padded up for 23 overs. An appalling decision saw him swiftly leave, trap bat before wicket. Bowers was next in, some good running with Kitch saw the score move to 198, before Richie was caught for 16. Greg was next in with orders of an early declaration, he didn’t hang around and promptly smashed 16. Kitch was left 73 not out from 106 balls, and had batted for approx 2 1/2hrs, a fantastic knock.

The Hill made 222 for 3 from 38 overs. P Diddly Y and Bulpitt opened, however things didn’t go to plan and Westcott raced to 53 for 0 from the 1st 10 overs. The Pikey hadn’t settled and was replaced by Curtis, and the first breakthrough was soon made. Bulpitt picking up Baxter, with the score now 70 for 1. Some precise bowling from Dog and some fine slip (Luke) and gully (Spitz) fielding saw him pick up a further 3 wickets. Curtis struggled with his lined but picked up 1-40. After 20 overs The Hill had reduced Westcott to 99 for 5. Camp and Spitz joined the attack, and wickets continued to fall as Westcott proceeded to play attacking cricket. Campo picked up a wicket, but was a little wayward (1-23) and was removed from the attack, prompting a show of petulance and his OHCC cap being thrown to the ground in rage, tut tut. Pikey returned and together with Spitz quickly mopped up the tail. Pikey ending with 1- 42 and Spitz finishing Westcott off with 3-11. Westcott were bowled out for 151 from 32, Giving OHCC the maximum 28 pts.

A splendid weekend all round, saw OHCC pick up 65 from a possible 66 pts. This puts The Hill 3rd in the league on average points (20.25) behind Abinger (28) and Shalford (21.5). However, are top on total points scored.

Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15594552948591440889noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29751131.post-44811869271556304282008-05-30T16:42:00.007Z2008-05-30T16:59:06.076ZOHCC gain vital win away to WonershThe Hill went into a double header weekend knowing 2 victories would move them back into contention in the league. The toss was promptly lost, with the Wonersh skipper electing to bat, on a cool overcast day at The Common.

Bish and Clive opened the bowling and Bish picked up the Gabrowski first ball. The Hill’s euphoria was somewhat dampened by some aggressive batting by Miller & Miller, who put on 108 for the next wicket. It wasn’t until the 31st over that the next break through was made, when Spitzy majestically bowled D Miller for 46. The Hill’s patience and disciplined bowling was well rewarded in the remaining 14 overs, when wickets tumbled. This collapse was sprearheaded by Delboy who removed the opener R Miller for 67, and then proceeded to pick up a further 3 middle order wickets in quick succession. Ably supported by Curtis at the other end, who picked up 2 wickets, with some fine quick bowling. In between Richie Hughes produced a fine piece of fielding on the boundary to run out C Hill for 11. The bowling and fielding was excellent throughout, and Camp was unlucky not to pick up a wicket, but returning fine figures of 0-32, Clive struggled on the damp pitch, however still finished with 0-26. The pick of the bowlers being Delboy with 4-20.

Wonersh made 163 for 9. Kitch and Del gave Oakwood a dream start and after 13 overs had raced to 60 for 0. However, both openers fell in quick succession making the score 63 for 2. This brought Offord and Snippers to the crease, who quickly steadied the ship. Offord departed for 7, but the score had moved onto 90-3, which brought Footzy to the crease with the Hill requiring 74 from 20 overs to win. What followed turned out to be a swash-bookling 45 minutes of cricket. Both batsmen got on top of the Wonersh bowlers and made smooth progress towards victory with 9 overs to spare. Snippers finishing on a jug avoiding 46 not out (However he did the decent thing and bough one anyway) and Footzy 38 not out. A fine display by all 5 batsmen used.

Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15594552948591440889noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29751131.post-48054074744605312592007-07-17T14:42:00.000Z2007-07-17T14:43:03.077ZCURTIS BEECROFTView curtis' stupid going ons at the hill this weekend at

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=R5dEbOPsGZ4

Hillhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13257951052744071875noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29751131.post-53721631179857386032007-06-04T15:41:00.000Z2007-06-04T20:07:12.178ZOHCC SMASH OLD MANHATTENSOakwood Hill vs Old Manhattens
A hot, sunny day up the Hill saw Old Manhattens join Oakwood Hill for an afternoon of cricket. Only one change was made to the home team with Trawber coming back in for Gary who was unable to play this weekend. Spitzy won the toss and elected to bat on a surface which had been hit badly by rain through the week.
Des and Trawbs opened the batting for the Hill and got off to a good start with 18 runs coming off the 1st two overs with Del getting off to a quick start and Trawber starting slowly at the other end looking to find his feet and amass his first real runs of the season but this wasn’t to happen with Trawber falling for 16 off 33 balls with the score at 48. Matt Jee was next to the crease and batted well for his 26, although there were no boundaries in his innings mainly due to the slow outfield. Matt was then to go in a comical way with him not hearing the call for the second run from Des resulting in them both being at the same end and then argueing about who should be out with both of them insisting that they should be out. Matt and Des put on the partnership of the day of 114 with Des smashing 15 fours and and four sixes in an extremely powerful 113 before he was bowled. Del Boy’s 113 came off 90 balls. Terson came in for Matt and although he wasn’t there to long he was there long enough to see Del perish and then get out bringing Kitch and Spitz to the middle. The two smashed a quick fire partnership of 35, with for once Spitz looking like the one playing for his average with 17 off 22 balls including 13 dot balls. Spitz fell caught behind although he was adamant that he didn’t hit the ball although there was a unanimous feeling that Bish did get the decision right and that he wasn’t trying to get his own back on someone in the club for what happened with his LBW last week. Neil was then in to try to up the runs a bit but fell for 2 when caught brining Clive to the crease who scored 11 and then got caught on the last ball of the innings. Kitch finishing Not Out 42 off 29 balls.
Oakwood Hill finishing with a healthy 241 off their 40 overs.

Bish and Mad Dog opened the bowling for the home side and Bish with his second delivery of the day got their opening batsman out for 0. Clive and Bish kept up the pressure for their 5 and 6 overs respectively going for 26 and 17 with Clive taking 1 wicket and Bish getting 3. Bish getting his 3 wickets caught by Bulpitt, Camp and Kitchen and could have had more it wasn’t for drops by some players, I wont mention names just not to humiliate a certain person who dropped a complete dolly. Campy and Hill where bought on to replace both opening bowlers with Camp bowling quickly giving the batsman little chance of hitting him finished 5 overs 2 for 17. Campy bowled the number 5 batsman for 6 and the number 7 batsman for 7 runs. Hill bowled well only allowing 10 runs from his 5 overs and should have had a wicket as well but the umpire standing at square leg gave it a no ball for height when it hit half way up middle stump. It therefore must have fallen about 2 feet in less then a metre. Trawber and Matt Jee where bought on to finish the innings and Trawber bowled amazingly, bowling 5.2 overs 4 madiens 1 run and 3 wickets getting two caught (one a typical diving one hander by The Salmon) and the other bowled. Jee had to go off injured after 2 overs for 8 runs to bring Terson into the attack and he bowled a very indifferent two overs for 11 with one ball not even making it to the batsman.
Oakwood Hill bowled out the other team for 102 winning the game easily.

MAN OF THE MATCH - Des Hesselwood - A great 113 off 90 balls and if it wasnt for the blistering heat it may have resulted in Westys record of 169 being smashed with Des getting out with 10 overs still to go.

Hillhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13257951052744071875noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29751131.post-37687365982826835862007-05-28T10:48:00.000Z2007-05-28T10:49:47.423ZReportsMany thanks to J Hill for doing the previous four match reports at such quick notice, shown himself to be a very handy apprentice to the Duke.

Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14428715994358010717noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29751131.post-15907663403232576492007-05-28T10:46:00.001Z2007-05-28T10:47:53.735ZHILL SECURE ANOTHER VICTORY IN COLD WINTERY CONDITIONSOakwood Hill vs Graveney – Friendly – 26/05/2007
With a very similar team to the previous Saturday except for the missing of vice captain Trawber and Alex Overington allowed J Hill and Terson to make their debuts for the Saturday team this year.
Due to it only being a friendly it allowed for captain Spitz to mix up the batting order opening with Des and Gary trying to get some runs under both of their belts. Gary unfortunately got out for a duck off 13 balls and Matt Jee joined Hesselwood at the crease and the pair pushed on the runs until Des fell on 31 from the 43 balls he faced to bring Terson to the crease for his first real time in the middle this season. After a doggy first couple of balls Tersonater played a couple of good shots before playing all around a straight one getting bowled for 9 off 14 balls bringing the all mighty Bish to the crease who decided he want to be a batsman today, after much time he spent ealier in the day trying to decide which one he would prefer to be, batted very well for his 33. In the time between when Bish got in and out Matt Jee fell to a full toss for 39 off 60 balls. Bish got out to an extremely dubious LBW decision from umpire Gary but that will teach him for deciding not to play at something short and outside off stump and deciding to pad it away. The Monkeys where then bought to the crease putting on 53 before Spitz was caught for 31. Nelly was then in for 1 ball before he ran out Kitch and Nelly and Mad Dog finished on the innings with Neil on 1 not out and Clive 2 not out. OHCC setting a competitive total of 185-7 off their 40 overs.

The Hill went into the field feeling extremely confident and Clive and Campy started extremely well with 3 overs going without a run being scored. Camp finally got the break through after all the pressure with the Graveney batsman driving to Hill at mid off and Hill taking the catch confidently over the stumps running across from mid off. This was to be the start of Matt Camps amazing spell. Matt getting wickets caught by Terson, Saunders amd Hesselwood and bowling one of the batsman. Matt continued to take wicket after wicket finishing with outstanding figures of 5-18 although after spending so much time with the monkeys he moaned for quite a while about having to buy a jug for the team. Hill was then bought on to replace wicket less Clive and struck with his 3rd ball bowling the batsman with a delivery that kept extremely low. Bishop then was bought on to replace Matt who had bowled his full allotment of 8 overs and Bish bowled reasonably tightly although not used to having the older ball he found it hard to get anything from it and finished up wicket less. Kitch was bought on to replace Hill, who for once hardly bought one delivery short, and bowled a very indifferent spell although his figures say otherwise finishing 4 overs 1 for 18. Although how he got his wicket was embarrassing and doesn’t even deserve to be explained. Although saying that I will explain it. It was a ball that came out of the hand wrong, didn’t pitch, would have hit the batsman in the head and the batsman edged it straight up in the air over Neil, who had a very unusual day behind the stumps dropping 2 catches in a very uncharacteristic way, and was caught by Camp. All round good cricket eh? Hesselwood and Spitz where then bought on to finish the innings and they proceeded to do this both taking a wicket each.

Man of the Match
Who else but Matt Camp what an effort from the fast bowler. Taking 5 wickets for only 18 runs in his 8 overs finishing the game off early for the Hill and taking away any chance of the away team winning.

Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14428715994358010717noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29751131.post-54730388039506206612007-05-28T10:24:00.000Z2007-05-28T10:45:52.193ZHILL SECURE VITAL VICTORY IN LEAGUE CUP EVENING FIXTUREEwhurst Vs Oakwood Hill – Cup – 24/05/2007
Oakwood Hill turned up on Thursday with another strong team looking a lot like the team from the Sunday with only the replacement of Brett by our very own Brett Lee a.k.a Dan Bishop.
Richie again won the toss, like on the weekend, and decided to again bat with himself and Ben West opening the batting again. This was all starting to become very reminiscent of the weekend game just gone but there was to be one difference. Ben West was to score big and fast. Westy smashed 68 runs from 46 balls in 47 minutes as Oakwood Hill went at 10 an over in the 15 eight ball overs that were available to them. Bowers looking to continue where he finished on Sunday stayed with Westy through the opening 9 overs scoring 28 from 29 balls before he was bowled by Denyer. Westy was to follow Bowers soon after and so did Lakey only getting 3 after his phenomenal batting in his last game. The Duke, replacing West, again failed to live up to his big hitting name only getting 1 from 5 balls in a game that should have suited his big, hard hitting game we are used to seeing weekly on the Hill when numerous balls are lost at countless expense to the club. Kitch then came to the crease looking to knock the ball around and keep the strike rotating and got a quick fire 7 from 7 balls before being caught off the bowling of Foule. Luke Palmer was next in, after turning up late with no kit and looking a general mess and was finally at the crease after stealing kit from half the club, and started off well smashing a full, neck high delivery over the club house for 6 and was finally caught for 11 off 5 balls. Chappers and Swallow continued to score runs and finished 5 and 14 not out.
OHCC setting a massive 151-6 looked in command and where hoping to get their cup campaign off to a great start with a win against last years winners.

Ewhurst started their reply to the massive 155 set by the Hill losing wickets quickly with Clive striking quickly with the score only 5. Clive getting the number 2 batsman out caught by Sanga-Hankinson behind the stumps for only 3 runs. Clive then struck again getting the 3rd batsman out for 14 again caught by the Hank. An extremely fired up Bulpitt struck again this time it was a Northerner, Kitchen, taking the catch rather then the overworked Hankinson behind the stumps. Bowers then got in on the act taking his 1st wicket having the batsman caught by YA-YA (Lakey) for a second ball duck. Ewhurst at this point looked in trouble at 4 down for only 30 runs. Clive then took his 4th wicket for only 17 runs when he got the number 4 batsman out for 21 runs when Lake took another catch to finish Mad Dog’s brilliant spell of 4 overs 17 runs for 4 wickets. Lakey and Spitz where to take over from Bowers and Clive and both got in on the action getting wickets each. Lakey taking the 7th batter for 41 runs with a great catch being taken by the Nose Jnr Alex Overington and Spitz getting two wickets restricting Ewhurst to 134-8 off their 15 overs.

Man of the Match
Clive "Mad Dog" Bulpitt – Great figures of 4-17 off his 4 overs keeping the Hill in control of the game allowing Ewhurst no chance of getting the target runs and demolishing any batsman that got in his way.

Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14428715994358010717noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29751131.post-91234892358027806492007-05-28T10:23:00.003Z2008-05-30T16:49:37.789ZHILL CRUISE TO EASY VICTORY AGAINST WESCOTTOakwood Hill VS Westcott – League – 20/05/2007
After winning the toss Bowers decided that he would go for the maximum points available and decided to bat on a slightly cloudy day up at the Hill. With the inclusion of Saturday regulars Kitch, Spitz and Mad Dog the OHCC team looked like the strongest of the season with a batting line up all the way from 1 to 11 and bowling options everywhere this was a game the Hill expected to win.
Bowers and Westy started off the innings for the Hill and the game started off reasonably well for the home team with 16 runs coming from the first 5 overs and the Hill where looking to set another big score like they had been every Sunday since the start of the season. West was then caught pushing outside off stump by 1st slip off the bowling of Haigh and for once it wouldn’t be Fred that would be scoring highly like he had been in most previous innings this season and the newly crowned record holder was out for 9 off 23 balls.
Lake was next to join Bowers at the crease looking to replicate his last innings of 100 for the Hill and was going to do just that. Some big 6s from both batsmen and 34 fours where to follow with the Hill looking to set another score of 250+. Bowers went on to finish 122 not out off 123 balls scoring 13 fours and 3 sixes. Lakey finished on 135 not out from 77 balls at a staggering strike rate of 175.3 scoring 21 fours and 3 sixes. I bet West felt like this was a day that he could have continued his high scoring start to the season and added to the huge total he had already posted.
The Hill set the target for Westcott of 276 for 1.

After another brilliant lunch at the Hill the teams took the pitch with OHCC looking, most rightly so, the more confident team re-entering the pitch. After a good start off the 1st 6 overs by the Westcott opening pair with 39 runs coming there was finally a break through when Bulpitt got the number 2 batsman caught behind by Hankinson for 17. Wickets started to tumble from then on with Bowers taking the next wicket bowling the number 3 batsman for 5. Then Bowers got himself onto a hat trick with him dismissing the next batsman for a Golden Duck getting him caught by West. Then with all the pressure on the next batsman coming in, after the Westcott player took an age to get onto the pitch due to their next due in batsman refusing to enter the pitch, the ball was floated up by Bowers and with the batsman deciding to play a defensive block but not a very good on looped the ball up to West close in underneath the helmet only for him to drop a dolly of a catch. The only batsman to provide any real fight to the Oakwood Hill team was out next when he was clean bowled by Saturday skipper Spitz for 33. Another wicket was then taken by Spitz getting the next man in out for 4 clean bowling him with another wonderful quick and full ball. Spitz then carried on his destruction of the middle order of the Westcott line up when he got the man who had earlier refused to come in on the hat trick ball caught behind for 2 runs. Bowers took his final wicket of the day again with Westy catching off the bowling of Richie.
Overington was then bought back on for his second spell after a dismal 1st decided it was time to get in on the wickets getting the number 8, 9 and 10 wickets with them all being caught by Bulpitt, Chapman and West respectively.
Westcott finished all out for 119 off 25 overs giving Oakwood Hill the maximum points available for the day.

Man of the Match
R. Bishop and Mad Dog started the bowling well with Bish striking early removing Wonersh opener Miller for 0 caught by Kitch.
Bish and Clive continued to bowl well but it wasn’t until the skipper and leading wicket taker, Mark Swallow, was bought on that wickets started to fall with Spitz dismissing C Hill, Summerfield and Lloyd for 3, 11 and 0 respectively. Campy then being bought on dismissed the opener who had stayed strong for only 11 runs but was finally bowled by Camp.
Clive and Bish then bought back into the attack took wickets again with Clive dismissing the Wonersh number 3 for 59 when he was caught by Camp and the knock from the Wonersh batsman got the applause it deserved with this being the knock of the day from a dismal batting pitch.
Hesselwood and a run out got the last 2 wickets OHCC were to take and the home side finished 127 – 8 off their 45 overs.

Oakwood Hill then started their attempt at getting 127 which they thought would be quite an achievable target. Kitch and Trawber where sent in to open the batting and there was a 21 run stand before Trawber fell to Clark for 9 off 24 balls showing how hard it was to get away. Hesselwood replaced him at the crease and was expected to bring up the rate of scoring with his usual hard hitting performances seen numerous times at the Hill. This was not to be seen though. Kitch was next to go in the 21st over when he was bowled by opening bowler Kenyon for 27 off 70 balls. This was the demise of the Hills attempts to win this match where for the next 12 overs only 11 runs where scored and the wickets of A. Overington and M. Jee where lost for 0 and 2. Des still stuck in there though but was finding it difficult to score like all of those before him. Bishop was next into the crease, after a decent bowling performance and feeling full of confidence, but didn’t last long being caught and bowled for 0 by Summerfield. The skipper was next in and looking to up the scoring rate and probably had the best strike rate of the day with 13 scoring shots and only 11 non scoring shots. Des then bell being bowled by Summerfield for 19 off 70 balls keeping together the Oakwood Hill innings and leaving them little chance of losing the game although it wasn’t the innings everyone was used to seeing from Des it was one that was much needed. Neil came in next looking to do better then his son had done earlier but didn’t last much longer getting 3 runs off 10 balls before being bowled by Dukes. Swallow continued to bat well and ended up 18 Not Out and Gary who had come in at the end finishing 0 Not Out as Oakwood Hill finished 107 for 7 off their 40 overs. OHCC finished feeling a little disappointed with a losing draw only being 6 runs off getting a winning draw and 20 runs off a win but with the pitch keep so slow there was much difficulty in getting it off the square as seen all day.

Man Of the Match
M. Swallow – Another great performance by the skipper getting 3 for 13 off his 10 overs and 18 not out off 24 balls on a pitch that all others seemed to find it impossible to score on making sure this wasn’t going to be a game that the Hill would end up losing.

Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14428715994358010717noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29751131.post-74274524068156397972007-05-25T17:20:00.000Z2007-05-25T17:22:00.614ZPresidents Day - 27th May 2007This Sunday see Presidents Day so hopefully see you all down there.

Even if the weather is not too good there will be food and a 'beat the keeper' competition!

Shirt and tie has been requested for dress for the players.

Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15594552948591440889noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29751131.post-72808035857835288302007-05-17T16:37:00.000Z2007-05-17T16:59:16.834ZWeekend Match Preview - 17th MayThis weekend see's OHCC up against Wonersh and Westcott respectively. The weather was decent and the pitch looked good so it was no surprise when Bowers (the best looking member of Oakwood Hill CC) won the toss and elected to bat, especially considering he has been rabbiting on for ages about eclipsing the club record.
The Hill got off to a quick start thanks to some excellent batting from Bowers (who brings me tea of a morning) and West and some lose short bowling from the opposition. However Kingston put on an outstanding partnership for the Third wicket, the number three bat looked a real class bat, this was confirmed by the 117 runs that he accumulated, the Hill did not make the breakthrough until the number four bat fell for a powerful 56. The Hill then picked up another two quick wickets and looked well in control, yet the Hill struggled to keep the runs down and the number eight hit a number of sixes off Hankinson, finally the innings were over and Kingston were all out for an extremely respectable 302.
