September 26-27, 2000 Guest Speaker: Rev. and Mrs. Verne Asbury

Friday

Family Rally -7:30 p.m.

Bonfire/Hot dog roast (Bring your own food.)

Dorms available for lodging, each family responsible for own bedding, also for own meals (hot dog roast items, breakfast and lunch);

Rock Lake Youth group will be selling sloppy joes and other snacks as a fund raiser.

Saturday

Coffee Bar -9:00 a.m. Family Fun and Games -12:30-2:00 p.m.

Family Session -10:00 a.m. Clean up -2:00-2:30 p.m. Lunch -11:30-12:00 p.m.

Recommended cost per family is $10

(PLEASE NOTE THAT BEDDING AND TOWELS ARE NOT PROVIDED BY THE CAMP.)

Conference President's Note

Saundy and I will leave tomorrow to meet at Village Park Bible Methodist Church, Westfield, Indiana, for working meetings with Bro. Sams, Bro. Hedstrom and Bro. Parker. We will be fine tuning a new missions handbook on Friday afternoon and Saturday. We will be with Pastor and Mrs. Jason Lindahl at Ironwood for Sunday services. Monday we will meet with Bro. Dan Stetler as we prepare for Combined Ministerial. It is our plan to swing around by Cincinnati to see our guys and the Rock Lake youth at GBS before we return on Wednesday.

We had a great church picnic this evening! Thanks to all who chipped in and helped supply everything.

Unfortunately, the team I was on lost the softball game, but hey, it makes more humble and spiritual. :-)

Missions service...

Our family enjoyed having the Sankey family here for missions service
this morning at our church. They did a great job presenting how God is
working in their lives and in the work of Mexico. Having repeatedly
expressed prayer in church for Logan Sankey over the last number of
months, and hearing ABOUT them, it was great to actually see them in
person!

Tait Clarke passes away

I just received word that a senior from our church, Tait Clarke, has passed away. Please remember Ilene and the family in your prayers.
Funeral is Wednesday at 2PM in Sarnia...more details to come.

Melba Laing

I had the privilege of conducting Melba Laing funeral today. It was a simple graveside service at Dresden cemetery. She will be missed. Sis. Melba was a simple, quiet lady who had a real love for God. I'm sure she's enjoying a wonderful homecoming.

Yard Sale

Saturday, June 14 is Wallaceburg's townwide yardsale. For the first time ever, we're joining in! Come bring your priceless family heirlooms that we'll sell for .25. ;-)
Seriously, we could use as many items as possible.
Baked goods, etc. are also great!

God answered prayer today!

Today was Family and Friend Day at our church. A few weeks ago I challenged the people to each pray about a number they would like us to shoot for, write it down on a paper and then we would combine then and average the number.

A few weeks ago, we had 49 in attendance.
After combining everyones averages, the number was 73.

Today's attendance?
73.

What we're doing this Sunday

This Sunday is "Friend and Family Day".
It is a special outreach service where we are inviting people from the community to come visit us and "check us out". We'll be on our best behaviour! :-)
Together as a church, we've set the goal for 73 people to come out this Sunday. Pray that we'll meet it! The children will be singing a few songs, I'll be having a special message (let's just say some balloons will be involved :-)), and we hope that you will enjoy.
After service, we are having a free picnic lunch for all. If you are a visitor, just come and enjoy. There will be plenty of food to go around.
We're looking forward to seeing you this Sunday at 11AM!

That's how many people we are aiming for Friend and Family Day on June 1. We had all who wished ... pray about a number, and had them write it on a piece of paper. Then, I took all those numbers, averaged them out, and got 73.
Pray for 73...or 173! :-)

Due to the cold weather we've been having, we will be cancelling our Easter Egg hunt for next Saturday. (22nd) We will be rescheduling another get-together in the future.

It was nice to have good weather for our services yesterday. We had some good services with numerous family relatives visiting yesterday. God is good!

Feb. 17 - "Marital Commitment" sermon

Also, for Wednesday evenings we are studying the minor prophets (Habakkuk tonight!)
And, Sunday evenings we are working through the Book of Colossians

Is Dawn Valley a perfect church

If you should find the perfect church without fault or smear,

Please, don't join that church, you'd spoil the atmosphere.
If you should find the perfect church where all anxieties cease,

Then pass it by lest joining it you mar the masterpiece.

If you should find the perfect church, then don't you ever dare

To tread upon such holy ground you'd be a misfit there.
But since no perfect church exists... made of imperfect men,

Then let's cease looking for that church, and love the one we're in.

Of course it's not a perfect church, that's simple to discern,

But you and I and all of us could cause the tide to turn.
So let's keep working in our church until the resurrection,

And then we each will join God's church without an imperfection.
