This has been such a wet spring and the snow is still thick in the high country of Colorado.

I just painted this yesterday and the painting will need about nine more days to dry to be safe enough to ship. Later this week my wife and I are going on a llama trek in the Colorado high country. Stay tuned for those paintings next week.

This back lit cottonwood was found in Wyoming, north of Jackson Hole. I have recently completed a Wyoming series of paintings showing off the Teton mountains. This back lit tree did not show off the beautiful Teton mountains however I could not pass it up. The morning sun coming up through the branches was dramatic and I had to paint it.

Three weeks ago I was in Jackson Hole Wyoming and found this ranch north of town. All the ranches north of Jackson are part of an open space reserve for bison, elk and other large animals that are easily spotted roaming around. I wondered what this ranch must of been like back in the 1930's. I have a hard time with Jackson Hole because it is such a tourist trap. Nothing of the old days seems to remain except for the elk horns piled up in the park.

Yesterday, three of my plein air friends (Yvette, Steve and Dave) went up to Rocky Mountain National Park Colorado. We all live in Loveland so it's only about a 45 minute drive to the park. We have had such a wet June and the last couple of day it seem to have been drying out. The painting conditions were superb and we had a wonderful time. I completed two paintings and the second is coming up tomorrow. The painting will take seven to ten day to dry from this date.

Here in the States there seems to be all kinds of restrictions to having street vendors. As a kid I loved just setting up a corner cool-aid stand and open for business. In Mexico and in most South American countries the street vendors are accepted ways of life. In fact most of the locals trust the street vendors more than the local hard wall markets for the freshest vegetables. I guess that is why I am attracted to art fairs to sell my paintings.

I live in Loveland Colorado which is about forty minutes from Rocky Mountain Park. Some painting friends and I met in Marine Park around 3:00 today where this painting was completed. The June afternoon rains came in soon after completing this one. I thought the rains would blow through and we would have time for another painting. No such luck. The rains stayed. So back to Starbucks and a ride down the canyon.

While driving north of Jackson Hole lase week I came upon the great this great herd of buffalo.

North of Jackson is a great open wildlife refuge. I saw elk and coyotes also. On the West side of the preserve there are the great Teuton mountains. To the north and east of town there are roaming herds of buffalo, elke and prong horn antelope.

Last week I visited Jackson Hole Wyoming. Just north ease of Jackson on the road to Kelly Wyoming was this lovely sight. It is open range for wildlife and wild buffalo were in the vicinity. Here in Colorado where I live has been a very wet June. The day I visited Jackson Hole was beautiful.
