Here's two photos of the rig that "Dan-Man-Country-Man" and I have been working on. So far we have used two of my old Sputnic Satelight frames along with one of Rickey's old Vow frames. Looking gnarly for sure. The reason for this rig is a trip I'm in the middle of planning. It's going to be a cross country of a hiatus! My first goal would be to make it to Birmingham Alabama, which is a good 500+ miles from good old Orlando. My older brother lives there and it would be a nice stop along the way. After a stay there it will be looking westward from there. I've always wanted to see the wild wild west and what better way than on a bicycle! Like I said still planning, so the due date to the trip isn't on paper yet, but you guys know I'll be keeping ya'll posted!

his new Vow for street & park and now he's using his Satelight strictly for

Mullet madness

We just got this funny photo of Tony Neyer rocking a mullet and it made think that
it would be a good time to talk about all the new 2010 Sputnic collection.

To give you a little behind the scenes, the past 7 months we have been working super
hard on redesigning the entire Sputnic collection, now after all the hard work the
2010 collection will be dropping late Summer.

Starting with the Skyline frame, it has been fully redesigned by Tony and the details that he
speced on his new frame are clean and dialed as Neyer is.

Also exciting frame news is this year will be the first ever signature model for
Rickey Bates. I am sure all of you have seen Banned 3 and or the Shadow "Into the
Void" DVDs and if you haven't you need to see it now! You will fully understand why
Rickey has a signature model dropping! Along with a healthy dose of some new parts
including cranks, stems, hubs, seats and apparel this is going to make for the best
Sputnic collection to date.

I would love to give you guys more details about the new products but for now this is
it. Stay tuned and we will be dropping a new site and more details about all the new
products coming out soon.

Thanks to all the riders out there that have stood behind us, you guys rule!

Little update. Outside of bmx, our NBA team "the Orlando Magic" are rippin. Weather has been pretty gray and wet, nice cause we need the rain but its feeling like its been going on for a while now. Rickey and I have been talking about hit the road on a little hiatus trip! Will keep yall posted on it.

Stand up or get kicked down

BMX riders are facing an injustice forced upon them currently in Tucson, AZ . Two years ago the city of Tucson Parks and Rec. department initiated a project for a publicly funded skate park that had been in development for almost 10 years. Without updating the proposed plans or truly listening to the needs of the community, Parks and Rec. decided to build a public "skate" park that would exclude BMX bike riders altogether.

Kory Laos, a young Tucson teen was struck and killed in May of 2007 by a vehicle while riding with his friends on the streets of Tucson. Kory's father Scott truly believes if there was a safe place for BMX bikes to ride, his son would still be alive today. The Tucson BMX community is very disappointed with the city for not allowing BMX bikes in the new park, or providing a safe, legal place for bikes to go.

Sunday June 28th at 11am the BMX bike riders of Tucson, Arizona are standing up for what is right, and for what is desperately needed within our community. Please join us as we parade through downtown and protest at the new park, in hopes we will have a place to ride for the future.

This past weekend was the Banned "Better off Dead" DVD premier in Orlando. In typical Banned crew fashion it was off the hook. You have to see this DVD! If you local shop is not scared to carry the DVD you should have them contact Sparkys distribution to pick it up! The fine folks at BIBS-Boise Indoor Bike & Skate in Meridian, Idaho are hosting a dirt jump contest to be held at their nearby Idaho Velodrome and Cycling Park in Eagle, Idaho. This facility looks amazing with something for everyone to shred on 2 wheels, no matter what size wheels you prefer. If you're in or around the Idaho area, get your friends together and take a trip for what should be a great bike riding event!

Tomorrow is the Orlando premiere of Banned 3 "Better Off Dead" DVD at Mesh.

For the rest of the world you will have to wait till the DVD drops the 1st week of May.
All I can say is this video is unreal and is a must see! Your Mom may not like it but
your dad will, ha ha.

Riders in the video include Colt Fake, Rickey Bates,Johnny Devlin, Patrick king,
Daniel Arist, Kyle Painter, Tom Molyneux, Greg Smee , Mark Mulville and many more.

Got off of work on Saturday, and went to ride with everybody. Its about 39 degree's out and its getting close to sun set. Go ride one spot, with some quickcrete shit in a ditch. ( first photo is old as hell but shows what we were riding. that is actually on my first sputnic i bought!)

So riding the spot for about ten minutes just warming up and I was having a good time. I did a 180 over a crack on the ground, went right into a slider out right towards a big missing chunk in the ground. So I bunny hopped that thing and was headed straight for the water. I stepped my foot down right on the edge and hit the algae. So i slipped on the algae and ended up doing a chest first slide straight into the water, which is unbelievably dirty and smells like shit. I was basically under water, it sucked. In the photo I dragged my bike kind of out of the water, left my shoes in the water because they where completely soaked, wrecked my phone. So I left my shoes in the water, left my socks, and wrecked my phone. Good day.

Mike Hinkens headed way down south

Mike Hinkens has been pursuing a professional career outside of BMX for quite some years now and he has recently made a large decision that will undoubtedly affect his life in all ways, including BMX. Here is what he had to say...

"As some of you may know, I have been working hard on becoming a social studies teacher for some years now. In this tight market and in my search for jobs I have been very open to working anywhere. After some thorough research and some soul searching I have taken a job teaching middle and high school in Managua, Nicaragua...(Thats in Central America, below Mexico!). I will be leaving at the end of July for the next 2 school years. I am pretty excited to see the rest of this world up close and personal and I feel that this may be the next step for me. Obviously, I will continue to ride my bike and I hope that I can still balance my career and BMX as I do now. I really hope to maybe see some of you as visitors down there or possibly, meet you if you live down there! If you think that we may be able to ride down there, shoot an email over to the Sputnic crew".

time to get loose

The Casselberry crew is having a jam out at the trails this coming Sunday (April 5th) starting at 11AM. A $10 donation will get you a free shirt and go to help keeping the trails running strong. Light yourself on fire and Millions are also playing so come on out and show your support. Joey stopped by the office the other day and let us know that they've picked up a bunch of tarps so it's ON rain or shine. He also said something about using them as DIY slip n' slides if it gets too muddy to ride so it should be pretty interesting regardless of the weather.

The Brits are coming

James and the Zeal crew are coming to Orlando to film and and chill in May.
Look for a Zeal X Sputnic X Sparkys session to go down at Mesh.

We will post the the dates in the coming weeks.

Also James just put together a brand new Vow frame, Hammer pegs
and Sputnic Skyline bars. The ride looks sic!
