Couturier Elie Saab presented a positively immaculate collection for Couture fashion week in Paris. The designer chose a monochromatic color palette which, according to him, is meant to show women that their character is more important than their color.

Designer of the Moment: Marchesa

We used to call Monique Llhullier our favorite designer. She spoke to us with her girly shapes and adornment. And her figure flattering silhouettes looked equally fantastic on all frames (see: America Ferrera). But now a new design queen has stolen our heart. Marchesa is the new Monique. With designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig behind the wheel, Marchesa too has classic shapes that we never tire of (though they show up every season). Her gowns are also beloved by celebrities, and fit for all age ranges. There's really no difference between the two. Only that Marchesa is extremely hot right now. However, fashion goes in waves, and soon it will be Moniques turn again.

The CFDA Awards are no doubt the Oscars of the fashion world, and when there's a red carpet there's bound to be hits and misses. Obviously, this isn't like any other red carpet. Designers bring out the best of the best, yet still manage somehow to get it wrong.

Matthew Williamson Returns to Fashion Week
According to Vogue UK Matthew Williamson will be showing at London Fashion Week in September to celebrate British Fashion Council’s 25th year.

“I am thrilled to be returning to London Fashion Week this September. Since holding my first show here in 1997, it has always been very special to me. This season’s schedule is shaping up to be a truly great show of the spectrum of British talent around today, from established brands to young labels,” Williamson told Vogue.

Williamson has most recently made waves in the fashion world with his latest collection for H&M.

We discovered the gorgeousness of Lanvin during the Spring '08 season. His incredible use of volume and super gorgeous ads immediately had us bowing at the feet of Alber Behnaz. Somehow the designer always manages to combine the best of the old and the new. That capable aesthetic especially shines through in this season's runway collection.

The head designer managed to make one of this season's ubiquitous trends, the exposed zipper, look fresh and new, and had editors, buyers and fashionistas singing his eclectic praises.

Fashion TV: Unravelled

If only we were born a bit more artistically inclined we would be able to fulfill our destiny as a world famous fashion designer. Too bad we can't draw so much as a stick figure.

Yet we're still intrigued by the fashion world particularly the design process. Unravelled is a online documentary which follows British designer Louise Goldin as she goes from the first sketches to runway show. The best part of the show is that the episodes appear in reverse order. That is the "first" episode shows the runway show. It's an incredible concept, and watching the show made us more infatuated with fashion (who knew that was possible?). It's a must see for anyone even remotely interested in fashion and design.

Louis Vuitton Starts a New Trend

This fall, a new handbag trend is coming to the forefront, and it's not for women. Next season, not only will Kanye West be debuting his new Louis Vuitton branded sneaker, but the design house will also be distributing a collection of man bags AKA "murses."

We have to admit. The bags are tres luxe, but we're not sure that we'd want our boyfriends walking around with one.
