Yes, many of the laws are "wrong" from our viewpoint, but laws on murder and theft are prosecuted and punished much "better" than they are here, because of our excessive interest in "law" rather than "justice." <BR/><BR/>Old Judge Parker of the Texas Rangers once said wisely, "It isn't the severity of the punishment, but the certainty of it." There should be no such thing as "getting off on a technicality," and in Sharia courts there aren't. They find facts and mete out punishment. What they don't do but which we would or should is to prosecute, AFTER the criminal case is over, any law enforcement misconduct in the case. Forgot to read him his rights? Fine, he gets 30 years for what he confessed to, and the cop gets a 10 day suspension (first offense).J. Ewingnoreply@blogger.com
