The Orchids were certainly one of the more interesting bands on Sarah Records. They developed musically far more than any band except, maybe, The Field Mice. In my opinion, they encompass twee. Today we have the song Caveman by THE ORCHIDS. You can catch them at this year's NYC Popfest.Seannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29373941.post-49884476713527986772008-04-21T06:01:00.000-07:002008-04-21T06:04:28.589-07:00MP3 of the Day A lot of folks are celebrating birthdays today. While filming the Alfred Hitchcock movie, To Catch a Thief (1955), in the French Riviera, she met Prince Rainier. It wasn't love at first sight for Kelly, but the prince initiated a correspondence, which led to their marriage in 1956. She became Princess Grace of Monaco and retired from acting. Grace Kelly died tragically at the age of 52 when her car plunged off a mountain road in September 1982. It was the same stretch of highway that had been featured in her 1955 movie To Catch a Thief. Ives was a traveling musician during the Depression. In New York City in 1933, he became a folk singer after meeting up with other musicians, including Woody Guthrie, who were reviving the genre. Ives recorded many hit songs and also appeared in several films, including Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and East of Eden. He also narrated the classic TV special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. In his later years, Ives and his wife Dorothy, lived in a home alongside the water in the small town of Anacortes in Washington State.
