My favorite dish for entertaining people is french onion soup. 6 large onions, cooked to a deep, rich brown in a dutch oven, simmered with reduced beef stock, white wine, bourbon and a little butter, finally served with toasted garlic bread topped with melted Gruyere cheese. It's fantastic, especially for those people who think they don't like onions or onion soup. :)

I don't have one particular dish that I use for entertaining, but I quite often use some type of oven-baked pasta as a main dish. It can be done well ahead of time and just popped in the oven, making it easier to focus on the rest of the menu.

Sounds like a great book.
When we have company for dinner, my favorite thing to make is my lasagna, homemade rolls, a great salad and yummy dessert.

My favorite meal for entertaining, hands down, is a pan of home made lasagna (time providing, of course). The recipe for my sauce changes each time I make it-all depends what's handy, and preferably fresh (I like to load it with veggies). It spends a day in the slow cooker the day before I bake the dish, and is ready to go the following day.

My favourite menu is butternut squash and spinach lasagna with a fennel and mixed greens salad with an orange-olive oil-red wine vinegar dressing. It's ridiculously easy to make, feeds a crowd and looks elegant and high-effort. For dessert--pumpkin chocolate bars and mixed fruit.
Still, I can always use new and novel ideas for entertaining!

I like to be able to make up most of the meal ahead of time when I entertain, so lasagne is always one of my favorites. I also make an Italian bean dish to go with it that is great. It has green beans, an onion, a tomato, and carrots all simmered together with basil and a touch of olive oil. Yum.

I love to entertain. The entire process; including preparation which I have learned is great fun if I am organized with the menu, shopping, cooking and serving. While the actual menu changes every time, the one item that is always served are the Boozy Bloddy Mary Tomatoes. They're a great conversation starter and literally fly off the plate! I would love to receive the Memorable Recipe book as we're always looking to add to our entertaining repertoire.

My favorite is meal for entertaining standing rib roast. We use Alton Brown's method - low and slow, then hot to sear the outside. It can stand literaly for hours in between, so it's ready when you are. Put it back in, mash the potatoes (with fried shallots or wasabi), start the broccoli, and it's ready.

For entertaining I love Giada's recipe for pork roast covered with a paste of fresh thyme, rosemary, garlic and olive oil and covered with a "rectangle" of pancetta. It's easy and smells great and always comes out tender. Served with roasted asparagus, a special salad and roasted seasoned potatoes, it's always a hit!

I love trying new recipes and find that my family and friends love the results (usually). My family's favorite seems to be Christmas dinner with ham, my special orange salad, cheese grits, and my super special(made only once a year) chocolate and pecan pie.
