You will also be able to see some of Africa’s most celebrated animals from your seat – 500 FT above the ground.<br /> <br />Here you will be met at our private airstrip by our Camp Managers, and taken to our elevated main lodge area for a welcoming refreshment, and then shown to your en-suite spacious tented accommodation, which consists of seven spacious, Kenya - style tents. For those wanting a bit more romance, we have an elevated thatched honeymoon chalet overlooking the main channel of the Delta, with a private veranda. At Gunn’s Camp we have achieved a fine balance of comfort without isolating one’s self from the sights and sounds of nature.<br /> <br /><br />The main activities are mokoro (traditional dug out canoes) powerboat excursions, and guided game walks with our experienced guides who have spent their lives accumulating knowledge and understanding of the complex ecosystem of the Okavango Delta. As they show how to silently observe nature with minimal impact you will begin to realize the privilege and quiet excitement of being in one of those places that makes memories for you. <br /> <br />Chiefs Island where your activities take place offers one the of largest populations of African wildlife in the Delta area. Sightings may include lion , leopard , elephant , buffalo and packs of wild dog running across the plains of the Delta. Our concession is also home to hippo , crocodiles , plains zebra and a variety of buck ,including the red lechwe.<br />Gunn’s Camp is renowned for being a birders paradise, with over 240 species of bird including the rare Pel’s Fishing Owl and the endangered Wattled Crane.<br /><br />In the evenings you can relax in our elevated main lodge, or lie in the swimming pool sipping your drink watching the majesty of the African sunset, whilst reflecting on your day with fellow guests.<br /><br />Gunn's Main Camp accommodation is in 7 luxury meru tents with ensuite bathrooms, there is a combination of twin and double bedded tents, so please request your preference. All tents have lighting provided by generated electricity.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight:bold;">Gunns Bush Camp</span><br /><br />Gunn's Bush Camp is a secluded private campsite on a palm studded island in the Okavango Delta, overlooking Chiefs Island in the Moremi Game Reserve. Access is by a 20 minute scenic flight by light aircraft from Maun over the southwestern Delta. You will be met at the private airstrip by the camp porters and taken to camp by foot (10 minute easy walk) or mokoro (water levels depending). On arrival at Bush camp, our friendly and helpful managers will show you around camp and spend some time with you, going over any questions you may have. Bush Camp offers an affordable Delta experience for those travelers wishing to explore the true Delta. Mokoro excursions and game walks take place in the Moremi on Chiefs island. <br /> <br />CAMP FACILITIES:<br />A platform deck overlooking the river and the cave bar which is built on a termite hill. Meals will be served with other guests in the dining room; recently renovated in the same style as the cave bar. Relax in the heat of the day under the shady trees or take a refreshing dip in the pool. There are shared bathroom facilities with running hot/cold water and flush toilets. <br /> <br />Facilities in camp include a restaurant, cash bar, shady campsites, game viewing deck, barbecue facilities, swimming pool, and dry goods store with basic non -perishable provisions, flush toilets, and hot water showers.. Activities focus on mokoro / game walk excursions on the nearby game abundant flood plains with our experienced poler/guides.<br /> <br /><br />Your wilderness experience starts as you leave camp on Mokoro (canoe) and are gently poled through lily and reed lined waterways, stopping for a guided walk where you may enjoy sightings of the larger carnivores, plains game, elephant, buffalo, and perhaps the endangered wild dog. Birders observations have included two hundred and fifty species including the rare Pels Fishing Owl and endangered Wattled Crane. Camping options are flexible and limited only to your sense of adventure. You may combine any number of days and nights at our Bush Camp and wilderness camps.
