S'inscrivant en faux contre les discours dominants, Erika Flahault propose une étude de la situation des femmes vivant seules, à travers l'examen de la place qui leur est accordée dans nos sociétés et à travers l'analyse sociologique de récits de vie. Elle montre que la solitude résidentielle constitue un mode de vie à part entière et procède d'un choix actif dans certains cas. Stagings in Politics, Law, Art, and Culture since the 19th Century&lt;/span&gt;" aura lieu du 3 au 5 juin 2010 à l'Université de Zurich.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Extrait de l'appel à communications:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;The conference wishes to approach the topic of ‘The Veil’ from a historic as well as a current socio-political perspective. The practices and representations of veiling and unveiling in Muslim as well as Western societies since the 19th century shall be analysed, thereby identifying the cultural and gender specific codes employed. One important aspect will be the relationship between modernism and colonialism. Contributions are welcome on topics like the Western view of the ‘mysterious harem woman’ in art, film and literature, representations of veiling/unveiling of truth in religion, philosophy and ideology, as well as their historic and political semantics. Furthermore, religious forms of veiling/unveiling in different societies and cultures and their respective embedding in social and political situations shall be looked into. Concepts like religious freedom, transnational feminism, civil rights and human rights can be discussed. Forms of veiling/unveiling in Western culture could be a topic as well: for example the elegant city lady or the diva in art, fashion, culture and film. Deconstructions of Western clichés of the veiled woman in Islam, as presented in the works on violence and migration of contemporary artists, will be looked into as well. Last but not least, one can analyse how the image of the veiled Muslim woman is used in Western media. is an international  research and communications programme established in 2006 which links academics with activists and practitioners to find out what works to enhance women’s empowerment. We are identifying where women are achieving real gains and discovering the positive and negative factors which have influenced their journey.  Pathways is funded by the UK Department for International Development with additional financing from the Norwegian and Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and from UNIFEM. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;     &lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Our aim is to make these pathways of change       visible and to build on them to inspire a radical shift in policy       and practice. L'inégalité de genre est-elle un invariant commun à toutes les cultures ?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Quelle part revêt la culture dans la perpétuation de l'inégalité de genre? Cette injustice entre hommes et femmes est-elle liée à la différence Nord-Sud ? Des questions dûment débattues lors de ce séminaire qui auront eu la particularité d'éclairer la question de la justice de genre.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;En effet, selon Maria Jose de Moreno Ruiz, directrice Projet genre à la GTZ, (Agence allemande de coopération technique), organisatrice de l'événement, «dès 2008, il nous a paru crucial d'intégrer la dimension culturelle dans les politiques et les programmes de développement dévolus à la question du genre, au même titre que les droits de l'homme ou la bonne gouvernance». Raison à cela : là où il y a culture, il y a «gendérisation».  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"  style="text-align: justify;font-family:times new roman;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"  style="text-align: justify;font-family:times new roman;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;Violences extrêmes, politiques, insurrectionnelles, révolutionnaires, domestiques, physiques, symboliques, verbales, morales… Il n’existe aucun consensus définitionnel en philosophie et encore moins dans les sciences sociales sur les limites et la portée de la notion de violence.&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"  style="text-align: justify;font-family:times new roman;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;Elle renvoie plutôt à un champ d’expériences qui reste à spécifier. Longtemps pensée dans la philosophie politique classique comme l’envers du droit (Arendt, 1969), ou à l’inverse comme praxis révolutionnaire (Fanon, 1961), la violence hante la définition et les frontières de la légitimité. À l’opposé, les sciences sociales, dans leur travail critique sur la violence, se sont concentrées depuis les années 70 sur la recherche d’une définition non normative, refusant de la réduire à un phénomène obscur à lui-même et purement irrationnel (Graham et Gurr, 1979). Pourtant, l’un des apports de l’anthropologie est d’avoir montré que la violence n’est pas identifiable à la façon d’objets matériels ou d’états déterminés, en d’autres termes, elle ne s’observe pas, mais sa spécification résulte de procédures ouvertes de qualification (Lenclud, 1984) : l’explication de la violence est donc toujours déjà ancrée dans un travail de catégorisation. C’est ce constat simple qui a guidé le choix, pour le titre de ce numéro, de la description, car ce sont les dispositifs, les sources, les méthodes, les formats utilisés pour construire l’objet " violence " dans les discours des sciences humaines et sociales que nous voudrions mettre au centre des questionnements.&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"  style="text-align: justify;font-family:times new roman;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;Face au foisonnement et aux oppositions théoriques dans le champ des études sur la violence (Scheper-Hugues et Bourgois, 2004), le numéro de Tracés n’entend pas défendre une ligne théorique exclusive, mais bien plutôt inciter les contributeurs à discuter de la pertinence de modèles descriptifs et explicatifs en rapport à des terrains déterminés et des techniques de recherche explicitées. Poser la question en termes de description permettra – c’est le pari de ce numéro – de reposer certains problèmes (celui des causes, des facteurs de la violence, mais aussi de ses effets sur les corps, individuels et politiques), voire d’en faire émerger de nouveaux, hors des oppositions paradigmatiques discutées en sciences sociales depuis un demi-siècle.&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; Les chercheur.e.s ont commencé à penser la construction de la différence des sexes, les processus de hiérarchisation élaborés à partir de cette différence et à repenser les paradigmes de la connaissance fondés sur le biais du masculin. &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: times new roman; text-align: justify;"&gt;  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: times new roman; text-align: justify;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 13pt;"&gt;Mais une partie des connaissances sur les contraintes – politiques, sociales autant que biologiques – pesant sur les femmes, a été développée par d’autres disciplines. Sans vouloir à tout prix retrouver la spécificité de l’anthropologie dans ce domaine, cet appel à contribution souhaite recueillir des articles montrant comment les études de terrain ethnologiques posent actuellement la question des rapports de sexes.&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: times new roman; text-align: justify;"&gt;  &lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 13pt;"&gt;Dans cet appel, nous souhaitons interroger, à partir du terrain, les notions de rapports de sexes et les rapports de genre. Cette notion, qui souligne l’importance d’une approche relationnelle entre le féminin et le masculin, n’est-elle pas devenue, par son usage institutionnel, euphémisante ? Est-elle suffisante pour éclairer les modes de catégorisation hiérarchisante des femmes et des hommes ? Le salafisme réformiste, cadre idéologique dominant dans le monde musulman, est à la fois ce qui permet de faire avancer le statut de la femme et ce qui en limite les potentialités d'évolution. Il est le "lieu" idéologique où cette évolution trouve son essoufflement sécularisateur. The advancement of women through migration needs to be explored in the light of the increasing mobility of people across borders, both internal and international. The empowerment of (im) migrant women through the exercise of personal agency, collective action amongst diverse groups of women including First Nations/indigenous communities, and other ways to coalesce with mainstream women’s organizations to achieve common goals remains marginal in national discourses. More so, current trends in feminism(s) are still rooted in divisive categories such as race, class, and sexuality.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:times new roman;"&gt; This collection aims to highlight the often ignored intersection between feminism and migration that occur along multiple sites of engagement. It will address the major question, “does migration contribute to advance feminism?” In particular, what are the existing practices of cross-cultural collaboration amongst diverse groups of women?  To what extent does the “personal is political” experiential paradigm contribute to the potential involvement of immigrant/migrant women in certain modes of “feminist action”? Possible answers to these questions are encouraged from scholars and practitioners.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:times new roman;"&gt; Abstracts are due on August 30, 2009. Elle propose de donner la parole à de jeunes chercheur.e.s (étudiant.e.s en masters, doctorant.e.s, post-doctorant.e.s) pour esquisser un aperçu des recherches en cours sur les questions de transgression des normes de genre.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Présentation : &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;De nouvelles manières de penser les frontières du genre et d'appréhender les modes de transgression des normes sexuées apparaissent aujourd'hui mais manquent encore de visibilité dans la recherche actuelle. Cette journée d'étude sera l'occasion de les présenter et de les mettre en débat par le biais de perspectives interdisciplinaires et internationales. C'est parce que le genre fait loi que l'on peut parler de transgressions de genre. La transgression, acte interdit – tant du point de vue matériel que symbolique – suscite réactions et sanctions, dont les modalités peuvent être diverses (négation, invisibilisation, exclusion, répression). Il a donné lieu à de nombreux travaux d'une une grande diversité. Par rapport à la dimension du genre, le concept de citoyenneté a surtout longtemps été mobilisé pour penser l’exclusion des femmes, notamment leur exclusion de la sphère politique ou de l'Etat social. Aujourd’hui, il fait l’objet d’usages plus variés, permettant de penser le genre également par rapport aux nouveaux besoins d’inclusion qui émergent avec l’évolution de la société, que ce soit en termes de gouvernance, d'intégration des immigré-e-s, de pluralité des religions ou de développement du marché du travail. Dans ce contexte, ce concept s’est avéré également fondamental pour l’analyse de l’intersectionnalité, donc de l’articulation entre la dimension du genre et les autres grandes dimensions structurantes de l’espace socio-politique que sont la classe sociale, la sexualité, l’ethnicité (la « race »), la nationalité, l’âge, ou encore la capacité physique et mentale (« (dis)ability »).&lt;br /&gt;Le groupe Genre et politique se veut un espace de réflexion sur la citoyenneté genrée et sur les interrogations qu’elle soulève aujourd’hui. Est bienvenue toute contribution portant sur cette thématique, qu’elle soit de nature théorique ou empirique, qu’elle se situe du point de vue de l’Etat et des institutions, des organisations intermédiaires ou des citoyen-ne-s.
