Sorry we've been out of touch! Lots changing at the urbanXchange!

1. We moved. October 1st we moved into the larger spiffier space next door.

2. We added a record shop and hair salon ($20 haircuts!)
3. We are having more live music shows than ever...
4. We are consigning vintage furniture in the back room so if you have something cool, bring it down!

So come check us out! There is a live show Thursday night and Saturday is the Daffodil Parade (10-12) and we will have live music all afternoon starting at 2pm!

Sorry for not posting for so long. At the store we've been busy with moving into our new space and getting ready to expand to carry vintage furniture in the back. By the end of the month, Southend Records will also be opening inside of urbanX.

Don't miss the amazing event this saturday in tacoma:
Asthmatic kitty records sponsors the "unusual animals" house party.
On opening night, November 15th, Grampall Jookabox will play with Allan Boothe and Alexander and the Optimistics. Suggested donation $5. The show will start at 7pm and he will be on by 8pm. 802 s. G street, Tacoma.

The Helm Gallery:The Helm is pleased to present its first sound and sound-related drawing show, Doodle-ee Dee. Anchored by Garek Druss’ large sculpture Sound System, the show explores different relationships that exist between audio and visual stimuli. For Sound System, Druss recorded his habits in the painting studio and reconfigured them into a three hour composition that is amplified through a group of homemade speakers. French artists, Amelie Clavier and Gaelle Maas, interpret sound and music through vibrant, pop-influenced doodles. Marc Manning shows elaborate meditations on words and silence. Seattle-based sound artist Yann Novak will show Corrupt Media, Corrupt Data, a sculpture that explores the place of sound art in the marketplace and the point at which a work is given worth.

Accompanying the five artists will be a group of light-hearted sound experiments for viewers/listeners to take part in. The experiments will hopefully lead viewers toward a notion of their own unique relationship to sound.

The opening will take place from 5-10pm on Thursday, April 17th.

Fulcrum Gallery: Interactive neon art by Galen McCarty Turner at this new edgy independent gallery in Tacoma's renovating hilltop. Reception 6-9pm, Artist slide show and lecture, 7 p.m.

Artist cooperative show and reception with Photography by Chip VanGilder and poetry by Daniel Blue. Located next to the Grand Cinema 606 Fawcett Ave.

Word is there is new life being breathed into Tacoma night life with the reinvention of The World's Famous Bob's Java Jive. In recent years it has become known as Bob's Java 'Dive', but we've heard that new owners have cleaned up the broken seats, overgrowth of tropical plants and the mess of bare wires that caused shut downs by the fire dept.
Shows are being booked and it's looking like a hopefully place for live music in Tacoma. Visit their myspace page for more info.
