While I doubt we can achieve much success in '07, I would hope that these inexperienced Freshmen and Sophomores grow into successful experienced players in '08.
Before the season started I believed that with adequate QB play, we could win 6 games. Well, we have gotten much better QB play than I expected. What I didn't forsee was so many injuries on the defensive side of the ball. I still think that the last 2 recruiting classes have been the best in many years. I am hopefull that with another in February we will be on our way to success. I am not a Snyder apologist but I have faith in his building the program the right way. As far as his game coaching, that can be debated. Let's hope he is learning too.Herdmeisternoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28167861.post-67675536313012461212007-10-05T18:59:00.000-07:002007-10-05T18:59:00.000-07:00Memphis certainly had as many if not more injuries...Memphis certainly had as many if not more injuries than the HERD. The HERD had not played 3 games in 11 days. All teams have injuries, but not all teams are 0-5. A September schedule featuring Miami (Fla.), West Virginia and Cincinnati does not exactly set up for success, but New Hampshire and Memphis were there to be had. Memphis was without its starting quarterback, several defensive starters and playing its third game in 11 days. Yes, Marshall started a walk-on at defensive tackle and a converted fullback at middle linebacker, but that’s one you’ve got to lock down. At the same time, coach Snyder and coordinators Larry Kueck and Steve Dunlap have been limited because of injuries. It’s not an excuse (these coaches can defend themselves); it’s simply where Marshall stands through five frustrating games.Anthony Hanshewhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16753383488040608257noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28167861.post-59658333449700365482007-10-05T11:42:00.000-07:002007-10-05T11:42:00.000-07:00HERD FANS PLEASE JOIN ME IN THE CAMPAIN OF HERD NA...HERD FANS PLEASE JOIN ME IN THE CAMPAIN OF HERD NATION TO FIND OUR NEXT HEAD COACH. I believed that thru the Miami game, he is indeed building a program, but not a program anyone including himself if satisfied with. Nothing is getting better, into year three, we can't put points on the board, we can't keep the opponents out of the end-zone, special teams play is atrocious. We're still making many mental mistakes, to many penalites that kills drives, we still can't tackle, defensive backs don't play the ball, they play the receivers eyes, that sure seems to be working... yea sure...

Perhaps the saddest thing of all is his misuse of Bernie Morris. He has taken a very gifted athlete and made him into the villian of the offense by playing him in the wrong position. He is a great athlete, but not a quarterback.

For Pete's sake, let's do something different. Fire Kueck today, replace Bernie at QB with one of the young guns that are going to be here for a few years. Use Bernie as a receiver, get him the ball, let him do what he does best, let him run and occasionally throw the option pass. Let the quarterbacks call the plays, they certainly couldn't do any worse job than Kueck is doing. Making these changes today, what is the worse that can happen, we can go 0-5 for the next five games, exactly what we have gone the last five games. At least we would be doing something different, now that would be different.Dennishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09632811895682493557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28167861.post-4359523946604612682007-10-03T12:04:00.000-07:002007-10-03T12:04:00.000-07:00Snyder has obviously failed as a head coach. It's time to go "new coach" shopping, and start playing all under- classmen, to get them ready for the years to come. Use the rest of this year for prep for next year. The Herd fans deserve better than what they are getting.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28167861.post-62250378402421199652007-10-03T11:29:00.000-07:002007-10-03T11:29:00.000-07:00It amazing how everyone has the answer to the team...It amazing how everyone has the answer to the team's record. Yes, everyone, especially the players would like to win. They play to win and are competitors in every game. They don't go through the hard practices to lose every game. I believe they will continue to work hard and will win. They have played a tough opening schedule when you look at WVU,Cincy, and Miami. That said, we should begin to build for the future, which means more playing time for the Freshman and Sophomore players. We should remove the redshirt from at least one, maybe two, of the QBs and get them into games to see which one(s) are the future. Bernie is our best QB, and this is unfortunate for him, but we're not winning with him, so we need to move on.

I believe strongly that Mark Snyder is NOT the coach that can take MU to the next level. That must be fixed in the off season. Changing coaches now shouldn't be too disruptive since many of our more talented players are Freshman and Sophomores.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28167861.post-83430039198883307372007-10-03T08:46:00.000-07:002007-10-03T08:46:00.000-07:00I am tired of hearing these "Die Hard" Marshall fa...I am tired of hearing these "Die Hard" Marshall fans turning in the face of adversity. Do I think the answer is fire Snyder, no, I do think that we need a better offensive coordinator... but thats neither here nor there. Ultimately, what we need are players with basic skills. Our players need to work on basic things like, effective blocking, and tackling. We proved the first drive after the half that we can run, why dont we exercise that ability more? We dont have to go for the bomb with every play. But win or lose, I will say that I stand behind our Marshall Thundering Herd. GO HERD!!!Joshua Rossnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28167861.post-59797494498130920632007-10-03T08:40:00.000-07:002007-10-03T08:40:00.000-07:00No!!! A few losses is quite understandable. But 0 and 5?

Folks, stop kidding yourselves, this comes down to coaching, plain and simple. The play calling is horrendous, and the defense equally so. There is just no excuse for this.

After the Memphis loss, it is obvious that wholesale changes are in order. Snyder may be a great guy, but he needs to go immediately, along with the rest of his staff.

The program has been set back four decades (thanks in large part to the mess Pruitt left the team in - don't believe it? DO your research!). Maybe they can get back on track in two or three years if changes are made right now.skidbaxterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12167720212617591200noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28167861.post-8904296031331957532007-10-03T08:24:00.000-07:002007-10-03T08:24:00.000-07:00Time for a new coach. That is all.Time for a new coach.

That is all.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28167861.post-60804471601834632592007-10-03T07:19:00.000-07:002007-10-03T07:19:00.000-07:00I saw MEMPHIS play UCF a few weeks ago in ORLANDO....I saw MEMPHIS play UCF a few weeks ago in ORLANDO.This is not a very good MEMPHIS team, they were slow and could not compete at all.UCF scored the first seven times they had the ball.Final score 59-20.
I've said that to say this, I still think the talent pool is still laking ,in speed and size and it's not getting any better until this is corrected.
