***Major Update***

-- Support for Anniversaries and Other Dates in two new tabs. This means you don't have to add your friends' children as contacts - just add them as Other Dates under the adult friends' contact info. Use the child's name as the date label.

-- Greeting Cards! Now you can select from vintage Birthday, Anniversary or Other Occasion card images to attach to an email recipient.

-- SMS. In addition to Email and Call, you now also have the option of texting your loved ones.

-- Age in birthday list. Now you will see "Joe Sample... 33 in 32 days" right in the list without drilling down into the Details screen.

We are very excited about SplashNotes, in case you hadn't noticed. Our powerful outlining application for Palm OS is now ready for the iPhone with that old familiar Wi-Fi sync to transfer your outlines to the Windows and Mac desktop software. We have decided to make the desktop $9.95 and the handheld $4.95.

iCraig Released for iPhone and iPod touch

We just released a new product on the iPhone App Store - iCraig!

iCraig is a powerful tool for browsing your local Craigslist postings on your iPhone or iPod touch.

It's as easy as 1-2-3:

1. Select your location: USA > California > Los Angeles > Central LA.

2. Select the Category, Subcategory, and Filters (such as price range) you want set.

3. Enter some search terms, such as Vintage Stove, and hit Search.

You're off to the races viewing the full Craigslist on your iPhone in record time, with the full text, images and contact info.

See something you like? Reply to the poster by tapping the Email button.

See something you want to share? Forward the posting to a friend by tapping the Forward button.

Another bonus feature in iCraig is the ability to save Bookmarks of searches you often perform. To do this, set all the Category and Filter preferences that you want for your search as well as any search terms, then tap the PLUS button at the top right, and you will be able to bookmark the search for the next time you need it.

You will find Bookmarks by tapping the center tab on the bottom toolbar. You will also find a browsing History here which shows you what searches you performed recently.

One of the highlights every year is the evening presentation of the Handango Champion Awards, which are the most prestigious in our industry. How to crossgrade to iPhone

It seems we need to clarify this everywhere, because a lot of people are asking.

If you own a previous license for SplashID, you can have the desktop software for free but you need to buy the handheld application on the App Store. See our purchase pages for more info:

Some customers will not even need a new registration code, if they have a new enough license for Palm or Standalone, so just download it and try it.

AT&T puts out pricing plans for new iPhone

"AT&T today provided consumers with pricing plans and tips for purchasing the 3G iPhone on July 11 (buying will begin at 8 a.m. CST). Of course, most of the pricing information has already been revealed, but AT&T is making sure customers know the specifics. Here are the details:

* For those who will sign a two-year contract, the 3G iPhone will be available for $199 for the 8GB model and $299 for the 16GB version. This includes prepaid customers willing to switch to postpaid, new AT&T customers and current AT&T customers that are eligible for an upgrade.
* Existing AT&T customers not eligible for an upgrade can purchase a 3G iPhone for $399 (8GB) or $499 (16GB). Both require a new two-year contract. Existing customers who upgrade will have to pay an $18 upgrade fee, new customers will pay the standard $36 activation fee.

There are four AT&T Nation plans available to iPhone customers with prices that range from $69.99 per month up to $129.99 per month and all bundle voice and unlimited data which includes email and Web browsing. Unlimited text messaging can be added for $20 per month."

We have already mentioned that SplashID and SplashShopper are on their way to the iPhone shortly, but let's not forget about the SplashWallet application that is arguably most powerful - SplashMoney. With online banking downloads from many US banks, SplashMoney is a formidable competitor for Quicken on the desktop itself (available for both Windows and Mac OS). But as a mobile personal finance manager, it is second to none.

I should also mention that it is already available on Palm OS, Windows Mobile, and now BlackBerry as well.

The iPhone/iPod Touch version will have one new feature the others don't have yet - live updating currency. It's handy for recording transactions while you are traveling abroad in a different currency, converting them on the fly to your bank account's home currency.

WSJ reports that Android-powered handsets have been delayed to the fourth quarter. It'll be interesting to see how well Apple and RIM will be doing then and subsequently how susceptible the market will be to infiltration by Google.

We're still waiting on official confirmation of when the App Store launches -- may be later this month or on July 11 to coincide with the launch of the iPhone 3G.

At Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference

Exciting day here at Apple's annual Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco. Steve Jobs announced the much anticipated 3G iPhone is coming on July 11. The new 3G iPhone features GPS, a new white model in addition to the black version, thinner edges, and a flush headphone jack. Pricing is $199 for the 8 GB version and $299 for the 16 GB version. Importantly for us at SplashData, this new model will come with access to Apple's App Store, which will enable us to make our iPhone applications available to you!

In related news, a firmware update will be available for iPod Touch devices around the same time. Presumably this update will give these devices access to the App Store as well. What's strange to me is that Apple is charging $9.99 for the update. Although this is less than the $19.99 that had been rumored, I still don't understand why Apple would charge for a firmware update that offers access to the App Store, which should be a good thing for Apple, for developers, and for iPod Touch users.
