It was a great experience being an Intern in Canada and interacting with AIESEC members. I really enjoyed working with the National Committee of AIESEC Canada. It was meaningful sharing my experience, getting to know about the projects and activities AIESEC Canada had been running this year. I met people who used to be in AIESES and now work in difference business. It felt like being a part of the organization that had been developing leaders for a long time. I felt proud AIESECer, person and intern. I saw the AIESEC Canada members leading change, willing to make contributions to AIESEC, and engage in discussions aboutAIESEC experience. It was very empowering. Thank you for AIESEC Canada inviting me on board and giving me this opportunity.

Alla, Intern from Latvia in Waterloo

Allahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10664850241395035665noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28109923.post-1159818009293799032006-10-02T12:37:00.000-07:002006-10-02T12:40:09.310-07:00Yahoogroups e-mail for interns in Canadainternsincanada@yahoogroups.com- yahoogroup

internsincanada@yahoo.ca- e-mail

All interns are welcome to join.

You send to the e-mail internsincanada@yahoogroups.com

Subscribe, or drop me an e-mail to subscribe you. She was supposed to meet with Chiara and a bunch of people from Toronto, but Chiara and the bunch of people from Toronto got a bit improvised-organization so they weren't able to meet with her. Sorry Cintia! (even if I'm sure you had fun anyways ;) ).

Chiara went with Lukas and some other friends from Toronto on a road Trip from Toronto (departure Friday) to Ottawa (departure Saturday) to Montreal (pick up her cousin) to Quebec City (actually St.Anne de Beaux Pres as all the hotels in Quebec City were booked). We were six in a small car (we supposed to be legal as there were 6 seat belts in the car -three in front and three in the back- but someone had to "duck" each time we saw POLICE).
- On Satuday we did a pic-nic with Christian (LC OttawaU) and Rita (hungarian intern) and many other friends in front of Parliament Hill (see the picture)... bread, prosciutto, mozzarella and knives and hour lunch was ready :)

- then we left for Quebec and we got the first experience with Canadian speed limits :( .... we got a ticket for speed on out way to Montreal (so we were 5 in the car at that time), but we were lucky...we guess they had "SPECIALS" on that week-end as the gave us a ticket for 119km/h (the limit being 100k/h) instead that for 130k/h (which was our speed).

- At 11pm we finally got to hour destination, were we previously booked two 3-beds rooms... to find out that of course they had just one room...and everything was full. At the end we squeezed three more beds in our room and as it was a mini apartment we made pasta and watched a DVD all toguether.

- Sunday: Departure from St. Anne, visit to the Sanctuarium (very famous) and to Quebec City, lunch, quick visit and then back in the car to go back to Montreal.

- Monday: Shopping and then travel back to our destinations: Ottawa for me and Toronto for the others.

Great week-end... always in a rush though :)

Chiarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16937429868644899516noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28109923.post-1154101569997425642006-07-28T08:41:00.000-07:002006-07-28T08:57:07.843-07:00This Week-end... If you can't join just check online if a ribs Festival is coming around your spot in Canada (they have big trucks and they just travel all over Canada).

What is a ribs Festival?
Apparently it is part of the American/Canadian culture. A lot of cooking-teams travel with their trucks around Canada (but also around the USA) in order to make people taste their delicious barbecues. The funny thing is that they all have a table full of prizes and awards that prove that their ribs are just the best ones you can taste.

Why to try it?
Well... the ribs are really good...and the teams are really friendly people. We were there this evening and we had fun talking and taking pictures with a lot of these people (and personally I could also talk with someone about soccer... what a pleasure!!! I almost forgot what it felt to talk about the World Cup!!!).

And those who can't eat pork?
Well... no problem! There are cow ribs (we taste those as well and they are very very good). Some of the stands also promotion alligator and other animals ribs... we could not try everything though.

This weekend a group of people in Ottawa will still go to the Festival and maybe to the beach... so if you want to travel here just take the greyhound and leave here a post! We will tell you how to join us!

PS. in the picture: Chiara (Swiss trainee), Canadian-English guy who cooked really good ribs and Rita (Hungarian trainee)

Chiarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16937429868644899516noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28109923.post-1150867412418042792006-06-20T22:21:00.000-07:002006-06-20T22:23:32.426-07:00Coming soon... I also had the chance to meet some of the international trainees and ceeders that are experiencing Canada in this same moment. Unfortunately I ended up staying in Hamilton just a few hours, but I really wanted to get to know all those interesting people.

So I thought that a nice way to interact and keep in touch would be through a blog...where to post events, invitations, tips and everything comes to your mind (ok ok almost everything hehe).

An example? Inviting you to my host city....I thought that the best moment to see Ottawa would be the first of July....so a little before that occasion (say a month) I will post some info on that and ways to come cheaply to Ottawa. It's something else happening in your city? let us know through this blog!

Please e-mail me (traineesincanada @ gmail.com) and I will add your contact as a member of the blog so that you can post on this blog, share pics, etc. It would also be nice if you upload your picture with some of your info (country of origin, past @ experience, goals for the future and whatever info it seems important to you (some ideas: which soccer team do you support, prefered colour...etc).

Looking forward to meet you soon!
Chiara

Chiarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16937429868644899516noreply@blogger.com0
