I am planning to give hand made this year, gifts and cards. Then I found this cool site... Which fits right in with my new ETSY shop! Yesterday I worked on making ribbons for our guild retreat. This year is moving into fall and still I don't sew. I make beaded braclets, I started sketching again, and am thinking of pulling my paints out again. Happy Day! Last weekend I attended our guild's board retreat, it is our reward for our work during the year and fifteen of us got together and sewed all weekend! The best part was that I sewed again and completed a Christmas wall hanging. Some ideas for the center, it would be 6" finished, 6-1/2" unfinished. These are for a block that my group will be making for me out of greens, each lady can sign her name on her block so that I will remember each one that is our group. I will incorporate all the blocks into the rest of my quilt.

I've been working on these blocks trying to come up with one that I like, but I like them all! I really like the dynamics of putting them all together with some other square elements. As for which block I will have my group make I think I am leaning towards a Friendship block, where each member only has to make one, and it is for this quilt. I have to figure out how to create the guide lines

I've always love the work of these two artists Gego (Gertrude Goldschmidt) - She sculpted with shadows, I saw some of her work at the LAMoMA in the 90's and have remained amazed by the beauty of it. and Chuck Close - His eye for the structure of color in the images we see is pure genius!

Next week is the beginning of our "subversive" Sisters quilt group. We want to get together to be with each other, cut up some fabric and maybe sew it back together again. But, most of all we just want to be together as friends. These are the colors I've chosen to contribute. 2008 = Year of friends, I will find my way with them, not alone... Yeah! I got together with three of my quilty friends last night to cut some fabric and put it back together again. One of my friends has a machine I had not tried yet and she let me sew on it. I found it! Well, actually it is a really cool lamp worked glass ring that has sparkly gold flecks in in mixed with green and yellow glass. I purchased it at the Museum of Modern Art in Fort Worth --Great museum! And I do feel powerfully creative when I am wearing it!
