Then I found this cool site...
Which fits right in with my new ETSY shop!
Yesterday I worked on making ribbons for our guild retreat. Once I got started they all started to come together, but I won't post any pictures of them until they have been awarded because I want everyone to be surprised. I also found myself returning back to church after a four year hiatus. Then I learned about the art of the sigil this summer too and see their creation as a way to visually capture the prayers that I've been repeating with a few critical characters that represent phrases from flippytale Quilter (Christine)http://www.blogger.com/profile/14053750420556632690noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28040789.post-83605079744553080092008-10-26T19:26:00.003-05:002008-10-26T19:39:00.847-05:00Ellen Anne Eddy ClassWhat a great day, Saturday. I make beaded braclets, I started sketching again, and am thinking of pulling my paints out again. I've gone to a retreat and started a Christmas top with the vain idea of finishing before the holiday this year. Our November retreat is coming soon and I shall see how it goes.

Happy Day!
Last weekend I attended our guild's board retreat, it is our reward for our work during the year and fifteen of us got together and sewed all weekend! The best part was that I sewed again and completed a Christmas wall hanging. I will be basting, quilting and embellishing it in the time until the holidays and want to become more of an Advent hanging. It was so much fun to be flippytale Quilter (Christine)http://www.blogger.com/profile/14053750420556632690noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28040789.post-78012610434856231962008-06-12T06:13:00.004-05:002008-06-12T06:28:21.408-05:00Some time and with BeadsApril was my last post and now it is June. I still haven't really sewn anything, fabric no longer holds the seduction that it once did for me. But a couple of months ago I was overcome with the desire to make something and I had a dream about a making a bracelet. So I got out my beads, beads I haven't touched in over twenty years! And start beading like a mad woman. So far I've made at leastflippytale Quilter (Christine)http://www.blogger.com/profile/14053750420556632690noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28040789.post-27763449036439581382008-04-18T05:22:00.004-05:002008-10-26T19:40:11.554-05:00We had a great time!I got more sewing done last Saturday than I have in months! I played with my block, helped my friends, played hostess, and ate good food. Very satisfying overall!

These are for a block that my group will be making for me out of greens, each lady can sign her name on her block so that I will remember each one that is our group. I will incorporate all the blocks into the rest of my quilt.

I really like the dynamics of putting them all together with some other square elements. As for which block I will have my group make I think I am leaning towards a Friendship block, where each member only has to make one, and it is for this quilt. I've started several blocks for several reasons and they all appear random right now, accept that they are all related to green, and, I do like green.
This one I am thinking of making an entire quilt of ... maybe ...

Gego (Gertrude Goldschmidt) - She sculpted with shadows, I saw some of her work at the LAMoMA in the 90's and have remained amazed by the beauty of it.
and
Chuck Close - His eye for the structure of color in the images we see is pure genius!

We want to get together to be with each other, cut up some fabric and maybe sew it back together again. But, most of all we just want to be together as friends. These are the colors I've chosen to contribute.
2008 = Year of friends, I will find my way with them, not alone... I've flown alone for too long.

I got together with three of my quilty friends last night to cut some fabric and put it back together again. One of my friends has a machine I had not tried yet and she let me sew on it. Which is great since I am in the market for a new machine. I am so thankful for my friends, I just didn't realize how many I have and how supportive they are when I am open to them!
