NTD gains attentions on Several Websites

Recently I was approached by a few internet friends to add content to the web, which I have started to do.
The first site is wetpaint, which is a wiki type hosting service. The next one is Wiki itself with a wrecks of Eastern Ontario page for the great wrecks in the Area. Flickr groups for pictures of scuba of Kingston and Ontario. There is several more in the works so I can only update a little at the time the wetpaint one is set up for others to add to as well.

Ontario Diving has gone through a lot of changes in the last little while as well and more exciting changes to come.

Well another year has passed and we are still up and running in Kingston. We want to take a minute to wish you all a good Christmas and Happy New Year and to take a minute to Remember 2 people in the Dive Community that we lost, Doug Smeaton a dear friend and diver from Ottawa and Dave Clemmens from Barrie. I know both will be lost and surely missed by all that dove and knew them.

Please remember if you Drink do not drive we all want to see you on the wrecks and dive sites after the holidays.

The Gang goes to Florida

The last week of November, the gang from NTD went to the Florida Keys for some good ole fashioned wreck diving. Joining Harold, Kevin, Annie and I were new comers Sean, James and Jenn, We were blessed with some nice with weather and semi flat seas except the second day for Harold and I the First for them. We Dove the Duanne twice, Denwood twice, the Eagle Once and the Spiegel Grove 3 times. Not to mention the many reef dives as well. I have loaded quite a few pictures in the stores web gallery accessible off the main page.

Kate takes the challenge

Kate Moore a local Kingston gal, finished her OW course in Nov in the Quarry, she even did so in a wetsuit. I was cold and had to use my winter underwear. Congratulations Kate and I hope your trip to Thailand is a good one. See you in the spring.

Jenn finished her AOW course today with a Dive to the Keystorm, We would like to thank Jeff of the Rockport Dive Center for the ride. Jenn now has 50 dives this year since being certified in May. How was your season?

After the Pumpkin diving contest Sean had us over to the Heart and Stroke fundation for a donation. Divers from the diver raised over 90.00.

What a great weekend, 7 boat loads a day and the weather cooperated for all, boats went to the City of Sheyboygan, Frontenac, Davie and the Wolfe among others, with guest from Australia, Germany, Peru and even Toronto. The highlight was the third run of the day to the Wolfe Islander for a night Dive on Sat where large sheepheads ans Leperchauns were spoted in and on the wreck.

Recently people have been leaving leperchauns on wrecks in the Eastern Ontario Region, 2 have been spotted on the Wofle Islander, 1 each on the Comet, Cornwall and Olive Branch as well a pair on the Kinghorn. We think this is ok as it's not often when a leperchaun gets to go diving from what we understand.

Recently Neil L of Ottawa dove the Munson from shore and posted on the internet not only the directions to but claimed that this was a safe recreational dive. The logistics of this dive consisted a set of HP 100, 3 x 80 cf stage bottles, a GPS in a waterproof case, all bottles were filled with 32% nitrox and about hours of swiming. We at Northern Tech Diver do not believe this to be a safe way to complete a dive.

Mr Lefevbre did this dive SOLO, without the proper training and with out the aid of any ground support in a very busy boat channel. Again members of the dive community were shocked and in disbelief that anyone would attempt to do this to save on a charter.

Visiting Shipwrecks should not in anyway compromise your safety and your family's well being. Dive safe and seek the proper training for the appropriate level of diving that you wish to partake in.

Seems like the Spike Girls like to go Wild

What a weekend, Rob brought the gals from the Ingrediant Company from both Montreal and Toronto to Kingston to PARTY. Rob still managed to get a dive in as well. Spike did his first jello Hooter shooter off a spike girl and Eric saw his first boobies did I mention what a weekend. Dan took out his new softtail and a drive by was had, while listening to my new 80gig Ipod and the tune was Girls, Girls, Girls by Motley Crue. Like always nothing to report

When Mike came to Town

The Big ML came to NTD on the weekend to do the first phase of his DIRF course. After meeting the course members he was quickly rushed to the pool to do a swim test, which he did in no time at all. The weekend was great for diving, sunning, riding and hanging and banging with spike. We'll see you at the end of the month for the second part Mike. The drive by tune was Running with the Devil by Vanhalen today and there was nothing to report.

Sean gets Patched

Sean one of the stores Dive Masters got patched into the local chapter of the Canadian Army Veterans Motorcylce Club (CAV) on the weekend. This was followed up with a dive in Rockport today. Summer is almost here.

We heard from our friend the Canadian JJ from Afghanstan and he is well. Looks like only another month for him and he will be back in Ontario ready to dive his face off. We wish him well and a safe return.

Well Dan and I did it, we caved and joined the Harley generation. We purchased 1200CC Sporters and are hitting the road this spring when not diving. This picture was featured as the pic of the week at the local dealer in the last week of March. We have so far put on over a 1000 KM's more then Oren has and driven in snow, rain and sun.

Never seen a shark spank a leperchaun before? I heard about monkey spanking but couldn't find a monkey so I choose the Leperchaun. Nothing to report in yesterday's Drive by and the tune for the drive was "Shock the monkey"' by Peter Gabriel" Whadda think the tune was going to be?

Bad Spike, No Lucky Charms for you

Tom came to the shop unexpectedly today and found me mowing the lawn with the leperchaun, he thought this was wrong for some odd reason. All I heard was Bad Spike you call this mowing the lawn and said no lucky charms for you. I realized later that it was the uneven cut I was doing not the tools I was using. Nothing to report on the drive by and the tune was "Misplaced Childhood" by Marillion today.

When Jeff came to Town

. Jeff came to town on the weekend, one of the things we all have in common is we are all blue, some of us on the outside, some of us on the inside :D. Denis was quite happy to see Jeff and so was I seeing that donuts were supposed to be in the picture, but no Jeff stiff me again.

I get so confused in the mornings these days. There is 2 more choices for breaky and each is great with bailey's. Unfortunately it comes with a price as the other flavors are not available in Canada only for my friends in the US. Maybe some day they will bring some to me for my eating pleasure. While snacking on the new Berry Lucky Charms and performing a drive by I listen to. The "Logical Song" by Supertramp.

It's been two years and still no donuts Jeff. So I have taken the law into my own fins and was trained by Kingston's finest. So be forewarned and get your tail lights fixed or a ticket will be issued. ( The're broken BTW ;-), ) . Congrats on the new job in Ottawa, yes the police computer is great.
