Code Dates on Pies

Many of you products have best before dates on them but your pies only have an number, how can I tell when a pie is expired?

Our pies have a Julian date above or below the UPC code, e.g. 07314 mean produced in 2007 on the 314th day. As these products are frozen, there is no best before date needed. A product like this is easy good for 5-6 months. Of course, any product that is eaten as fresh as possible is always best.

I am allergic of YEAST. I found bread, muffin without gluten but not without yeast. Do you some products without yeast.

Can celiacs eat dairy, in particular butter?

Some celiacs can eat dairy. Some have an allergy to milk as the enzymes that break down the milk are located at the tip of the villis. Many celiacs that experience a milk allergy can later go back to have dairy products. Some remain sensitive to it.

I would like to know what I can eat for breakfast. everything has grain in it.

There are lots of choices. On a gluten free diet one is only "allergic" to wheat, oats, barley, rye, triticale, kamut and spelt. You find gluten free cereals in Health food stores and grocery stores. They are marked "gluten free". They are made with rice, potato flour or starch, cornstarch, corn or cornflour, amaranth seeds or flour and quinoa. Some are even available in form of flakes or grites. You can find cream of rice, quinoa flakes, cornflakes and corn pops all gluten free. A great number of breads are available such as gluten free raisin breads or plain breads that make delicious french toasts. So much for the products with grains.

Eggs and fruit, jam, butter or margarine are also choices as well as yoghurts (check labels - for starches !)

Our daughter has severe food allergies and one of them is wheat. Were we live, we were able to find your products among others. We use your prodcut for cake and muffins and will try others since they are very good. We are moving to Germany...do you deliver your products there? If not, is there a way to make you deliver directly to us? Do you any similar good product in Europe?

You mention fibromyalgia in your list of conditions. How would this diet help? What are the foods that could be adding to the symptoms?

Fibromyalgia is mentioned in the list of the conditions as it belongs also to the autoimmune disorders. It is to find out, if there is underlaying Celiac Disease in your case. This can be determined with a blood test and if positive with a biopsy of the small intestines. You cannot be on a gluten free diet when the test is taken or it will guaranteed be negative. You need a referral to see a gasterontolgist.

Worsening Symptoms

Yesterday I went out for lunch, and was told there was no gluten in any of the food.
However, they lied, as last night I was in so much pain and I was wondering if the symptoms are worse if you\'ve been off gluten and then you have some? It\'s now 3pm where I am, so I ate the food 27 hours ago and the pain is almost as intense as it was last night!

I take a product called n\'zimes for digestion and one of the ingredients is malt diastase . Is this safe on a gluten free diet?

Malt diastase is a light tan powder extracted from barley malts and therefore not gluten free

Can I substitute your all purpose flour mix in a regular pastry recipe, or do you have a special recipe that you recommend?

Our all purpose flour replaces 1 cup of regular = 3/4 of EL PETO all purpose flour

We also carry a gluten free pie dough mix - a quite inexpensive alternative to our finished pie dough
