This fun collection of goodies is from our fearless leader, Sandi. She sent me a beautiful block, a pumpkin pin cushion, and some gorgeous batik fabric in brown and pink. The fabric also matches the block she made me. I am such a lucky lady for getting such great loot! Thanks Sandi! I really appreciate everything!! (I won't know what to do with myself now that I am not stalking the mail box anymore.... lol!!)

Ellen sent me this adorable autumn block from an additional swap we did between the two of us. Too pretty not to show off! Thanks Ellen!

I could gush for hours on how much I love these blocks- they really do give me something to look foreword to. I really appreciate it!

Hello there!

My name is Katie and I am married to a wonderful husband, Chris. We live in Frederick, MD with our two year old daughter, Eden. We both work full time, but love the chances we get to vacation together. I am new to quilting, but have been sewing for a while, so am loving learning this new skill. I am excited to be part of this swap group!

October Blocks Done!

Here we are the night before the deadline and I literally just finished making my quilt blocks! I guess the good news is they are done and will be on their way to my partner in the morning. She requested a log cabin type block using prints and solids in these colors...red, green, yellow, purple.

I am new to quilting and these were my first attempts at log cabins...other than the wonky ones...and I think they turned out nicely. I hope my partner will be happy with them!My lighting(or maybe my monitor)isn't quite right...the solid dark purple is reading navy here...but is IS purple and the dot print is green.

I am brand new to swapping and I am so excited to have found this group! I have been quilting for almost three years. I am self-taught along with great tips I have picked up from virtual quilting friends. I love modern quilts but I also love working with reproduction fabrics. I make custom quilts by commission and I absolutely love working with people to make a quilt that is unique to them. I enjoy collaborating so a block swap sounds like a lot of fun.

This string quilt was one of my favorites to make... so if anyone is looking for string blocks, I'm your girl!

I also have a blog that I enjoy sharing my Dear Jane quilt project, commissioned projects, crochet, and any other crafty projects I am working on.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone!

I got a quilt block from Debbie and a fall quilt block from Andee. I loved the design and hand dyed pink fabric that Debbie used. And I loved the design and sparkly green fabric that Andee used. I received three blocks from Alicia from my extra Oct. Swap. You girls put me to shame, everyone's quilting skills are superb! Take for example these three lovely blocks from Alicia. Are they not absolutely amazing? Thank you so much Alicia! I love them! I want to try to make the Spiderweb Star, top photo, as I have never seen a block quite like it. (Off to google that pattern now...)

I like using the swaps as a reason to experiement and practice new techniques. If anyone would like to swap additionally again, be sure to let me know. I've been having a blast emailing back and forth, and getting such delightful blocks in the mail. I appreciate all the hard work everyone puts into them. Thanks so much!

"Extra" Blocks

A few members and I decided to do an additional block swap for the month of October. (I have a few blocks left, if anyone else is interested, see post below...) While not an 'official' swap, I couldn't resist showing off the pretty blocks I received in the mail today. Their work deserves to be recognized and "ooh" and "awww'ed" at. Mary made me an adorable chicken, and Jen made a beautiful cream and brown block. I was just delighted to get these blocks! It really made my day! While completely different in style, both blocks are magnificent. Thanks again ladies!

I received my block from Rae Jean today, and I am absolutely overwhelmed with how beautiful it is! (i hope she isn't disappointed by my amateur attempt!) Here is the block I made for Linnea for Sept. She said she liked blues, purples, and batiks. Hope she liked it.

Here is the block I made for Marion for Oct. She asked for the maple leaf pattern. I love the way the batik makes it look like it really is a fall leaf.

Hello Everyone! I'm new to the Quilt Block Swap and very excited to be here! I made my first quilt two years ago and still consider myself to be very new at quilting. In fact, I'm more of a "piecer" than a quilter ;) I've only quilted 3 of my finished quilt tops and those were straight lines and very simple. Once I master piecing, I hope to move on to actual quilting!

The first quilt I made was a simple lap quilt from Amy Karol's Bend the Rules Sewing and my latest(quilt top) was the Turning 20 quilt pictured below.When it comes to blocks, my favorites at the moment are cobblestones, log cabins, Irish chains, and pinwheels. I love both modern and vintage 30's style quilts.

Hi everyone! It seems to be the week for newbies. I'm Susie and just wanted to say "Hi" to you all. I don't consider myself an accomplished quilter by no means. I sew and crochet more than I quilt and usually I have more projects started than I can keep count. But I love learning new blocks and if they don't turn out quite right, I turn them into pot holders (needless to say I have plenty). I'm looking forward to swapping and making new friends. I'll post some pictures soon.
