I had people who have come up to me (and know I am from Houston) say it must not have been that bad. This was when over half the city still had no power. They were shocked because there was no news on it.

It dropped out of the news cycle so fast that I think alot of people had the idea that everything was ok.

Houston should be applauded for having no electricity for so long and there were really no big incidences.

Oh I agree with you. I also know that people had (have) an agenda: Crucify Bush and use whatever means necessary. Hurricane Ike didn't serve their purpose, so the people don't matter. And the story doesn't matter.

Plus, good deeds and good preparation don't equal a good story. Oh no, morons and moronic behavior and blaming it all on someone else ... now there is a story!

Not that I don't think you guys should get a lot of attention, from all accounts I have heard from the Department of Homeland Security, they have been nothing but impressed with the way Texas has reacted. Additionally, Texas is different then Louisiana, they run all their shelters and the refuse to let the federal government in to help until they ask and tell them where to go (this is why I LOVE Texas...are independent spirit!). So, some of the media had faded because, thankfully, your state government is not as inept as Louisiana. Not to say there are not problems, but Texas does a darn good job overall.
