Seven days and fifty-seven e-mails later the two decided to meet up.

“Somebody performing on a tiny balcony above the Reeperbahn and singing a song about a Hamster who wants to kill himself is crazy enough for me!”, Nina says about her husband-to-be.

For Claudius and Nina, it was love at first sight. “I knew, those eyes would not disappoint me” said Claudius after meeting Nina for the first time.

On the second date, only two weeks after she saw him on Balcony TV for the first time, Claudius decided the time was right to pop the question.

The virtual aquaintance became a real marriage yesterday and was celebrated in style on BalconyTV Hamburg.
Stephen O'Reganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06875678721171953003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27683912.post-69424802957854250542008-05-02T03:20:00.001-07:002008-05-02T03:20:47.619-07:00TOM ON RTETune in and watch Tom on WETV!!!
Stephen O'Reganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06875678721171953003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27683912.post-89228335888682706042008-05-01T05:36:00.000-07:002008-05-01T05:37:31.617-07:00VIDEO OF THE DAY
Stephen O'Reganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06875678721171953003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27683912.post-73128997926716058262008-04-30T03:27:00.001-07:002008-04-30T03:31:21.769-07:00LAST CHANCE SALOONThis is it folks, the last last last chance for you all to vote. Although we've campaigned, we've campaigned hard, it looks like we are going to be trounced by the might of Chocolate Rain.

Here's how I justify it to myself.

'Chocolate Rain' has had over 20 Million Views on YouTube. It is in first place.
'I got a Crush on Obama' has over 8 Million Views on YouTube. It is in second place.
'Tony vs Paul' has over 4 Million Views on YouTube. It is in third place.
'BalconyTV' has over 2 Million Views on YouTube. It is in forth place.
'Here comes another Bubble' has over 200'000 views. It is in fifth place.

You get the picture.

On a positive note, we have more comments on the Webby site than the competition, demonstrating the passion of our fan base. Now if we can just find a way of multiplying our fan base by the power of ten we may be in business.

Its not good to be award obsessed though, which we have been for weeks. Its ridiculous. We should be confident enough in our work without needing a shiny springy award to boost our egos. Yeah right!

In other BalconyTV news; due to being featured on the front of YouTube Italy, My Awesome Mixtape has become the most watched BalconyTV show ever. In just five days! 62'000 views at the moment. Incredeeeeblay!!!!!

And finally, I went to seeing Kieron Blacks amazing Amazing Few on Friday night in the new cool Button Factory. And suffice to say they were absolutely fantastic! You should try check em out some time.Stephen O'Reganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06875678721171953003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27683912.post-10455570984428512692008-04-24T11:07:00.000-07:002008-04-24T11:20:46.737-07:002 Million Video ViewsIt took BalconyTV one year and five months to reach a target of one million video views on YouTube. And we are delighted to say it has only taken us another five months to achieve another million video views. Thats an acceleration we are pretty happy with. The addition of BalconyTV Hamburg and an increased number of featured videos on YouTube has undoubtedly helped this happen. We have an archive now of exactly 887 videos. I wonder does anybody else on YouTube world have more videos? These videos average over 2250 video views each. Our top rated show is the St. Patricks Day Parade 2008 with over 55'000 views. BalconyTV Hamburgs top rated show is Alberto with over 44'000 video views.
A huge thanks to all the amazing acts for their support to date. And thanks to all the others who contributed positive vibes.
The future is exciting for BalconyTV. Its been a tricky learning curve for myself, Tom and Pauline. Internet TV is a new phenomenon. The music industry is in a state of flux. Trying to figure out the best way to operate in this new media world has posed some tough questions, and hence some very awkward choices have had to be made.
But the good news is that we are still here and we hope to make a very good announcement in the days to come, so watch this space.Stephen O'Reganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06875678721171953003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27683912.post-86358238748911079902008-04-22T04:59:00.000-07:002008-04-22T05:04:07.689-07:00BIG IN ITALYWe always see it as an achievement when one of our videos is featured on YouTube. Its terrible business.

Our competition is really great but when you think about it, Chocolate Rain has had over 18 Million views on YouTube alone. BalconyTV is about to get to 2 Million Views for an archive of over 800 videos! Which means, that if we got everybody in Ireland to vote, we could still be trounced. Yes, I know my logic is flawed but you get the idea.

I really encourage you to watch our competition videos. Funnily enough I got an email from the makers of the stunning Tony vs. Paul asking me how we could conspire to beat Chocalate Rain. I'm thinking.

I've done alot of press interviews this week since our Webby nomination. Many people ask us how we make money? Whats the future plan? Etc.

Its all very simple, as demonstrated by this video which is also nominated in our category. I filmed a gig of theirs in the Spiegeltent a long time back, and as I spent so long editing it I really came to like the music.
If its worth a quote on a poster - 'BalconyTV gives Readers Wives new album two thumbs up'.
Readers Wives are yet another off shoot of the legendary Happy Gang. The Happy Gang for me could very well be the Irish Arcade Fire - a massive ensemble that delivers melody , variety, soul and well...alot of catchy tunes. And aint nothing wrong with that!
Aswell as Readers Wives, the Happy Gang has produced Robotnik, Jenny Lindfors, Aiden, Ben Kritikos and James Guilmartin. I'm sure I'm missing somebody.
So go get Readers Wives album basically. Here is a very old BalconyTV performance by Readers Wives. Notice how Pauline looks stoned!
Stephen O'Reganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06875678721171953003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27683912.post-17779046495823666782008-03-25T15:34:00.000-07:002008-03-25T15:49:38.189-07:00UPDATE ON STUFFSorry for the really disinteresting lazy blog entries of late. I was in London last week working with a group on BalconyTV London which we hope to launch in June. We were exploring the city for a good balcony. If anyone knows one, or has one, let us know! The pressure is on.
Along with that we are working on an overall rebuild of the website. Meetings along these lines are a bit more stressful. As we are building our own archive independent of YouTube it is a bit strenuous trying to get it to work as well.
This should go here, and that should go there..
Plenty of debate.
It was good to see our parade coverage featured on YouTube Ireland. In a week it has become our most watched show ever with almost 50'000 views. The power of YouTube is still unparrelled.
We made some pretty ambitious calls to get guest commentators. But in the end faith left it in the hands of me and Tom. I think it worked out well though. Certainly for those out there with a sense of irony and humour. There are clearly some very angry hate filled YouTubers out there. Who are these loons?
The BalconyTV Hamburg crew also had a video featured on YouTube Germany. JAN BARUSCHKE & MARKUS ROLLWAGE have had over 30'000 since featuring.
So its all good.
On Sunday night myself and Tom went to the funeral of Mongrel Magazine in the Sugar Club. It was a great night, full of rambling chat. Sorry to see the magazine wrap though.
So thats it in a nutshell.
Here is a website well worth checking out. Thanks to Andrew on Canada for this link.
www.storyofstuff.comStephen O'Reganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06875678721171953003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27683912.post-80034275851772138692008-03-19T09:32:00.000-07:002008-03-19T09:35:57.482-07:00ANTHONY MINGHELLASorry to hear about the death of the film maker Anthony Minghella. I saw him speak in the IFI during the 100 Years of Beckett festival a year or so again in Dublin. He directed a short film of Becketts Play.
