Guru Poornima at Ashram

The Guru Poornima celebrations at Vedanta Ashram, Indore, were very overwhelming. The ashram overflowed with devotees and their devotion. First there was the puja of Bhagwan Sankaracharya and all the teachers of our tradition by Poojya Guruji and then later there was Pada-Puja of Poojya Guruji by Neena Bhatnagar.

All the devotees partook the prasad before leaving.

The five days Guru Poornima Camp concluded very satisfactorily at Vedanta Ashram, Indore on 17th July evening, with the devotees sharing their inspiring and elevating experience during the camp during the special concluding session.

Today on 17th July, Poojya Guruji took a 2nd class of Guru Stotram, as it was the last of the camp. He talked on 10th to 14th (last) shlokas of the stotram.

Guru Stotram - 2

The first day of the GP Camp was very nice. The weather was at its best, there were sessions of Guru Stotram talks, Rudrabhishekam, Chanting, Guru Gita talk, and then bhajans in the night.

Guru Poornima Camp begins

A five days Guru Poornima Camp started at Vedanta Ashram, Indore, today on the 13th of July 2008. In this camp the devotees from various parts will study the Guru Stotram and Guru Gita from Ramcharitmanasa, by Poojya Guruji and Poojya Swaminiji respectively. Apart from these classes there will be chanting class to learn Guru Stotram by P. Swamini Poornanandaji, and apart from this one couple will do the Rudrabhishekam of Bhagwan Sri Gangeshwar Mahadev every day.

Vedanta Saar Pravachans

The discourses on Vedanta Saar are going on regularly at Vedanta Ashram.

We have however planned to discontinue uploading new discourses of Vedanta Saar of Poojya Guruji on the net. As per the instructions of Poojya Guruji we shall upload selected discourses only which are completed in a definite time period, like those of Gyana Yagnas. The discourses at ashram are very elaborate, and at times are not useful to people not having the necessary background.

The talks on the first chapter and two discourses on the 2nd chapter will remain on the net, as they are of help to any new sadhaka.

The pravachans on Vedanta Saar will continue till 12th July, after which will start the Guru Poornima Camp.

Today on 2nd July 2008, the discourse on Vedanta-Saar was on Adhyaropa. Poojya Guruji said that this very study indicates our wish to remove all veils and awake to our divine truth within, and for this it is certainly very important to understand the exact definition of Adhyaropa, but it is equally important to understand as to why it takes place. What is it which compels us to resort to projection rather than revert to valid enquiry.

Today on 1st July 2008, the discourse on Vedanta-Saar started once again after a gap of about a fortnight. From today starts the second chapter of the text, and is called as Adhyaropa chapter.

The opening statement was the crisp and the famous definition of Adhyaropa or Superimposition.

Discourses on 'Gita Chapter 7' given at Rishikesh

Poojya Guruji gave very enlightening discourses on the Seventh Chapter of Bhagwad Gita at Rishikesh Camp. The chapter is called Gyana-Vigyana Yoga, and deals with not only the right intellectual appreciation of God but also reveals the ways and means to awake to that subjective experience within.

We plan to make these talks available to our reader through our web site. These Hindi language talks are of 100 to 120 minutes duration each, and each talk is average around 28 MB in size. They can be downloaded and can be used and shared by anyone 'freely' - without altering the track. Vedanta Mission prohibits usage of any of these talks for any commercial purposes.

Rishikesh Camp

The Sadhana Camp at Arsha Vidya Peetha, Rishikesh, was conducted by Poojya Guruji and P.Swamini Amitanandaji from 18th to 24th June 2008. The weather was heavenly and the camp overall went off very nicely.

The subject matter of the discourses were, the 2nd Valli of the 2nd Chapter of Katha Upanishad, and the 7th Chapter of Gita. Apart from these there was a conducted Meditation on Peace of Mind, and chanting of Mahishasurmardini Stotram. Daily evening there was some special Cultural Program too. The camp concluded with Pada Puja and narration of the experiences of the camp by the delegates.

On the second last day a cultural program was organized, in which there was a small skit by two children, bhajans, poems and some jokes by the campers. We provide links to hear or download the jokes presentation.

Ashram Update

Daily Pravachans:

The first chapter of Vedanta Saar concluded on Sunday. This chapter was regarding the Anubandha Chatushtaya of Vedanta. These are the four points pertaining to a text. Its student (Adhikari), its subject-matter (Vishaya), the objective (Prayojana), and finally the Sambandha, the nature of relationship between subject-matter and the objective of the text. This was a very important section, which every student interested to study Vedanta must know.

Now there will be a ten days break, when Poojya Guruji and Swamini Amitanandaji go to Rishikesh for conducting a Sadhana Camp there. In the meantime the taped discourses of Poojya Guruji on Bhaja Govindam will be played everyday at the Ashram. The second chapter of Vedanta-Saar is likely to begin on 26th June.

UK Trip08_1st Fortnight

Its almost been a fortnight since P. Sw Samatanandaji has been in the UK. She has had a 3 days home satsang in London, a temple program at Wellingborough and attended a Bhajan program of a group of devotees at Luton. Various programs have been fixed up in other cities as well.

Today on 12th June 2008, Poojya Guruji first talked about Vishaya (the subject-matter) of Vedanta, and then started the topic of the third Anubandha, the Sambandha. Sambandha is the nature of relationship between the subject-matter and the objective. He stressed the profound importance to see the uniqueness of both these Anubandha's then alone a student gets properly disposed to take proper advantage of Vedantic studies.
