There was a car that was running really fast from behind and peter didn't see it coming... He wanted to use the fastest lane so he put his signal on and tried to move to the other lane. Too late. We heard a loud crash from behind. The fast running car hit our behind. Thank God we're driving Volvo. It didn't flinch... not an inch. So we pulled over. I saw the front of the car that bumped us. It was very badly crushed. Good thing nothing happened to everyone. We checked our behind and was totally amazed by Volvo. There was only a slight scratch. The car we were driving was tagged as the safest car in the world. Glad we have this kind of car... regardless of age. Glad we had car insurance. It will take care of everything. Glad nothing happened to our kids. Thank God for protection.

janethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05436881538828075254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-274085070094717367.post-79804060027851100702008-10-12T03:11:00.005+08:002008-10-12T03:23:50.478+08:00Angelina Jolie is Breastfeeding too?
While I was busy weaning my girl off from breast milk... here came Angelina Jolie showing everybody she's breastfeeding her twins. According to omg.yahoo.com, Jolie appears on the cover of the W's November issue in a sleeveless top, which has been opened to reveal part of her left breast and a tiny hand ostensibly belonging to one of her twins, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, who were born in July. The black-and-white photo shows Jolie smiling, her long brown hair cascading over her shoulder. The cover headline promises exclusive "private photos" of the 33-year-old actress by her partner Brad Pitt. La Leche League International, the world's oldest breast-feeding support organization, applauds Jolie's apparent decision to be photographed nursing.

"Breast-feeding in public reveals a whole lot less than what has been revealed on the red carpet. ... I think we do need more role models like Angelina Jolie willing to be photographed and say, 'Hey look, it can be done, it oughta be done,'" said La Leche spokeswoman Jane Crouse.

Glad that Angelina sets a good example of what it takes to be a mother... that as long as you can do it... you do it.

janethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05436881538828075254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-274085070094717367.post-83398087726798739632008-10-11T23:05:00.004+08:002008-10-11T23:17:35.113+08:00Sunway Pyramid - My favorite Mall
My favorite mall is Sunway Pyramid. I just love its intricate design (which is Egytian inspired). It is a huge mall... well, after they built it's extension, it became so huge your one whole day won't be enough to see everything. But of course, I won't know for sure if it's the biggest mall in Malaysia because there are other malls that are so big like One Utama Mall. Another thing I like about the mall is that it has a very good digital signage. Those were really eye catching you would want to buy whatever it's advertising. Hehehe. But of course, I'm not an impulsive buyer. My husband is. I don't shop just for the sake of shopping. I need to think a lot before buying things. But of course, there are times when the love-at-first-sight hits me. That's when I become impulsive buyer. But those times are occasional. So it doesn't make me a bad shopper, does it? Anyways, it's been a long time since we haven't gone to Sunway Pyramid. Hope to visit the mall soon.

janethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05436881538828075254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-274085070094717367.post-13343482308923838652008-10-11T22:52:00.002+08:002008-10-11T22:58:59.735+08:00In Need of a Long Vacation
Last week was my son's one week school vacation because of Hari Raya holidays. I was thinking maybe we could drive up to Singapore again for a break. I was disappointed to know that Peter had organized a meeting in the middle of the holiday week! There is already an Air Asia flight direct to Singapore but I was thinking of driving because when we reach Singapore, we can drive around the Country with our own car. The only thing is... our car's ac compressor needs to be changed because when we drive long distance, the aircon freezes the compressor... something like that and it stops giving cool air already. Anyways... to make the long story short, we were not able to go anywhere because of the meeting. Now I am hoping that in the next school holiday, we will have time to go for a long break. I really mean looooong break.

janethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05436881538828075254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-274085070094717367.post-62877150985062316522008-10-11T22:06:00.003+08:002008-10-11T22:50:10.832+08:00memories that last
One great thing about being in a digital world nowadays is that it is very easy to create family keepsakes. There are many websites that allow you to store your photos, make slideshows and presentations. I have a lot of photos which I took from my Sony Cybershot and everytime I look at the pictures... it does warm my heart. To see happy faces in an unforgettable places. It does help when we have good quality xd picture card. It can save a lot of pictures. It doesn't run out of memory fast so you can take load of photos. Here are my favorite photos that make me smile everytime I peek on them.

happy smile - because of coke. hehehe.

cutee

pretending to be sleeping

just plain priceless cozy moments.

janethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05436881538828075254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-274085070094717367.post-83572988908580709972008-10-11T17:56:00.005+08:002008-10-11T18:10:37.111+08:00My Skin is Aging?
We were at Subang Parade just now. While my girl was in her playgroup with daddy, I went to a pharmacy to get something. There was a lady who approached me and asked if I wanted a free skin test. It was free so I said yes. They had this machine that they used to screen for health problems. It was like an ultrasound in fact. But was amazed me was... they only checked my nail! There was a tiny dot on my nail that meant I lacked Vitamin C. And there was a small white line I saw and the lady explained that I lacked antioxidant in my body. And of course, while explaining all my vitamin deficiency, there was always this product that could help alleviate my vitamin deficiency. Wee hee. And she made another test. This time, it was on the skin of my hand. And she told me my skin was aging! LOL! I thought of course... I'm getting old err... I mean I'm getting more matured... what do I expect with my skin... stay young? LOL. My mind was a bit sarcastic. But I know there are products that can stop your skin from aging. Now. What? Buy their products? No way. I think there are natural ways to slow down aging, if not stop it. Here are some natural ways to stop/slow down aging that I can think of:

drink lots of water

eat healthy stuff like fresh fruits and vegetables

exercise daily

get an ample sleep everyday.

It's a challenge... But if I keep it that way... I would probably slow down aging.

janethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05436881538828075254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-274085070094717367.post-63039928158397818602008-10-11T15:40:00.004+08:002008-10-11T15:57:59.986+08:00My Church
I am a church goer. Usually. But when my husband goes out of town for work, I don't go to church. I go to FGA (Full Gospel Assembly) in Kuala Lumpur. This church is super huge. You know why? It's a theater turned into church. This church started by two elders in one of their houses (house church) with a few people fellowshiping together. 25 years later, they have like 8,000 members! Can you believe how phenominal the church growth was? My husband started going to this church 21 years ago. And he never left this church. I am glad coz I like singing and fellowshiping in a big crowd. During praise and worship time, it feels like we're having a concert everytime. Nowadays, a lot of services happen in a theater, especially in a church where there's a big population. It is so easy to fit everybody.

Our church may not be a theater like service but what I'm going to tell you might be of interest to you. Actually, there is going to be a first-ever inaugural Theatre Church Conference in Silver Spring, MD on October 22 & 23. That's about 11 more days to go. If you happen to be around the area and you want to experience a theater like service, you can Find out more about it in their website at ncm.com. My church is probably not like this one... I mean like theater like service... But I can just imagine the impact it would be if I attend a service which is something like this.

janethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05436881538828075254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-274085070094717367.post-68318765675498151452008-10-10T01:44:00.004+08:002008-10-10T01:53:45.301+08:00success!
Weaning my girl off breastmilk was indeed a success! It was so successful I feel guilty sometimes. I feel that I weaned her off too soon. I was actually planning to breastfeed her for two years. But it's still months away... and I stopped breastfeeding her already. Sometimes I think I should have waited. Arg! But I also give my self a consolation that before I weaned her off... she became too attached to me. And everytime she saw me, she would only think of milk. For her, mommy = milk. So I just couldn't wait for two more months. Now that I don't breastfeed my girl anymore, it's time to hit those diet programs. I've been too lazy to hit the treadmill so probably this time, I'll just go slow on food. Hmmm.. let's see...

janethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05436881538828075254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-274085070094717367.post-58308884807041443882008-10-04T05:55:00.003+08:002008-10-04T06:20:47.845+08:00My Journey Into Freedom Season 2
Weaning my girl off from breastmilk was not that hard as I thought it was. The first day was hard but came second day, things were easier. I think what contributed to Samantha's tantrums was the fact that she was teething. I discovered this on the second day of my weaning her off. I check her teeth, and there, all four molars were coming out - all at the same time! No wonder why she was so grumpy these days. I blamed it a lot on "terrible two" stage. When I discovered she was teething, I really pity her because it was such a wrong timing to be starting to wean her off. If I knew she was, I would have delayed the process. But since I have started already, I didn't want to stop. I didn't want to make it harder for the two of us. There were things I want to highlight for this part 2 of journey into freedom.

day 2:

i'm glad i listened to the doctor and didn't get any lactation suppressant pill. he advised me to wait and see whether it would be so painful. it was indeed very painful on the first night, but i gave samantha a drink... so it eased down a bit.

i decided to go slow and easy. so on the second night, i gave samantha another drink - which i find very helpful for the both of us.

carried samantha to sleep since she wasn't used to sleeping on her own. she used to drink milk and fall asleep while doing so.

gave samantha extra hugs and attention

tried giving her Pediasure milk because that's her brother's milk until now. She could only drink a little bit and then she'd refuse. So I bought the Pediasure chocolate flavor because I thought she liked chocolates she might wanna go for this one. Same thing, she only drank a little. She liked eating milk powder. So I gave her the chocolate milk powder and water to drink later.

day 3:

was much much easier. i still put marmite (bovril) on my breasts because she would still ask for milk occassionally. i never tried saying no to her when she asked for milk. i would straight away offer to her... then she'd realize she didn't like it anymore. it's funny because now when she asks for milk, and when I say "sure?" now she would say "no."

of course, i still smell of a bovril (marmite). have you tried bovril on your toast? LOL. it's actually very very good as long as you put bovril thinly and mix it with butter. awesome. but of course, this time, i didn't do that. bovril is strictly for breast. hehehe.

when we have to go out, i just make sure i spray a lot of perfume to cover up the beefy smell. i use Banana Republic - classic perfume which is one of my favorites (the other one is clinique - happy).

day 4:

this time, she slept on her own already. i didn't have to carry her to sleep anymore. that's one thing to be grateful about.

i also didn't give her milk at night. we're progressing here! what do you think?

I just thank God that it's not that hard to wean her off. As I've said, the most challenging part was to make a decision and to implement it. And of course, it was very diffiult on the first day and night... but it got easier on the second day.

day 5:

success!

i'm ready to change wardrobes! The memory has been upgraded so it's quite fast now. I can also watch movies without it stopping in the middle of the movie. The computer guy who fixed our notebooks was a very good guy. However, peter's notebook has totally crashed. the problem was with the motherboard. They can fix it but the computer guys suggested to just buy a new one. We asked him for his recommendations and he said Toshiba Satellite notebooks are very good ones. (well, she's only 1 year and 10 months old.) so we were taken aback. i checked the price of the boots and good thing it was on sale. it's not very expensive. so we gave in. that was really sad, knowing that we let her win because she was throwing tantrums. so tell me... was i wrong in buying her this pair of boots? i was just going to buy a simple pair of slippers. on the other note, i have read somewhere that we let kids decide which ones they like from time to time. arrgghh... parenting is indeed the hardest job one can have. we all need God's wisdom in doing so.

janethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05436881538828075254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-274085070094717367.post-37320621873516164292008-10-01T15:35:00.003+08:002008-10-01T15:55:43.114+08:00the presence of a father
Our friend gave us copies of James Dobson's series of teaching about "Bringing up Boys" on dvd's a few years ago. My husband and I watched most of it. Everything Jame's said about raising boys (can be applied to girls as well) boils down to the presence of a father. A father figure is very important in raising boys. Most of the kids, according to the survey, that end up being juvenile delinquent are those kids that didn't have their father's attention or just plain fatherless. They end up looking for some kind of love outside home, thus, taking drugs to help them feel better and end up being addicted to drugs. Little do they know that to take drugs can make their lives worse. But of course, there are many drug rehabilitation center around that can help these addicts to be free from their addiction. Take for example the drug rehab in sunset malibu. They offer the most gentle and most effective drug addiction treatment. But not all can afford to go for a treatment. That's why it is encouraged that fathers spend more time with their kids, that fathers show love to their kids. I had to rock her off to sleep.

we all slept early coz i was feeling a bit of pain in my breast already. i also couldn't open my eyes more. i was feeling like my head was foggy and my eyelids heavy. but i woke up in the middle of the night feeling the pain. so i tried expressing the milk a little bit. but it didn't work because after a few minutes, i would feel the pain again.

samantha woke up also, wanting to drink milk. and you know what this mother did? cleaned off the nipples and offered samantha a drink! LOL! i just couldn't take the pain. i also couldn't sleep because of the pain.

i actually offered her milk twice. one at 3:00 am and one at 5:30am. my... i felt much relieved.

So there goes my journey into freedom - season 1. watch out for season 2!

my breastfeeding journey with samantha started like this: you may click the image below.

janethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05436881538828075254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-274085070094717367.post-40583568713559979642008-09-30T05:24:00.004+08:002008-09-30T05:30:57.912+08:00Big Apple Donut
Has taken over the donut market! Big Apple Donut has indeed made it to the Malaysian market as they introduced their new concept in making donuts. I love their donuts. It's like a fresh breath of air... Well, compared to Dunkin Donuts, they have new flavors that you can truly enjoy. One of my favorites is the donut with white chocolate and cheese filling.

The other one is called the alien - below.

My kids' favorite is the glacier. Just plain donut with melted sugar on top (photo not available). The only thing with Big Apple Donuts is that their donuts are smaller compare to Dunkin Donuts. But it's fine with me as I can't eat too much. Big Apple Donut is available everywhere in Malaysia.

janethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05436881538828075254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-274085070094717367.post-23977848795152725752008-09-25T18:00:00.004+08:002008-09-25T18:29:29.103+08:00Webhosting
There are just so many web hosts appearing nowadays. They appear like how mushrooms sprout overnight. Sometimes when you look for webhosting, you just feel so overwhelmed with all the offers and features. And with all the offerings, we tend to forget what we really want for a web host.

But the good news is that there's one website that does webhosting rating for all these web hosts available. Right now, they have listed the top 6 webhosts that they recommend. From yahoo hosting to inmotion hosting, you'd see what gets the 5 star rating. Actually, their rating is based from the customer feedbacks, availabiltiy, affordability, etc. I was just reading a forum and there is just so much complain about a certain web hosts. So it doesn't mean that when a webhost is cheap we go for it coz the quality might be jeopardized and we end up disappointed because it doesn't our needs.

Anyways, it is best to check the webhostingrating.com first to know which ones has the best offer for quality and more value for money. It not only help us decide which ones to use, it saves us a lot of time and energy searching about webhosting services ourselves. Also, they have a lot of articles that you might find interesting. I just visited the website and I read an article about web hosting and how it all began. Interesting read.

janethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05436881538828075254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-274085070094717367.post-38089527272727678452008-09-25T17:25:00.002+08:002008-09-25T17:35:03.416+08:00they just left
our guests just left. we had such a great time with them. their daughter izabelle was such an adorable baby. she's only 9 months but she can already mimic everything we say. such brilliant baby. they're going back to the Philippines for one week and will leave for Burkina Faso after that. they lived in burkina faso for 9 years and they had such interesting experiences there. heard from them that burkina faso was the second poorest country in the world! it takes a real calling to be able to live there for a long time. i pray for God's grace and blessings for the family as they embark on another chapter of their lives. they've stayed in the Philippines for almost a year for a furlough and to give birth to izabelle. I'm sure when they go back to BF, there will be another adjustment for the family, especially for the kids and also especially that they have a new baby with them now.

it's me,
janethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05436881538828075254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-274085070094717367.post-63968256013993770582008-09-23T15:56:00.004+08:002008-09-23T16:25:33.911+08:00guests from burkina faso
It has been a long time since we didn't have any guests staying in our house. But yesterday, our Filipino friends who are based in Burkina Faso came over and are staying with us for a couple more days. They have a baby with them so I took out my long kept baby bedding. Baby Isabelle is 9 months old. I pity her because she's teething. So went out to find a teething gel for her. She's quite an adorable baby, actually. Anyways, glad to have guests in the house again. They were in Burkina Faso for many years already. They just went back to the Philippines to give birth to Isabelle. But they're going back to BF in two weeks time. Having them in the house is fun. I had fun learning things about Burkina Faso. And yes, they brought me a wall hanger which they got from Burkina Faso. I love their wall hanger. I've been having one of those hanging on my wall for a few years now. Just glad to have a new one now.

it's me,
janethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05436881538828075254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-274085070094717367.post-27073508052813296772008-09-22T02:11:00.007+08:002008-09-22T03:40:48.281+08:00My Favorite Disney Movies
I know there's a kiddie inside me. I was opened up into a new world. One of the things that amused me was the use of English here. In the Philippines, our English is American standard. Here, the English is British standard. So you can imagine the difference in pronunciations and usage inspite of sameness in terms. We have quite a good discussion with those with my husband before. Like when you say "a couple" of things, how many are they? For us, technically conscious people, we straight away say:"of course, two." But in Malaysia, you can actually say "a couple of chairs" even if you mean more than two chairs. Another word which created another discussion for me and my husband recently is word "fittings."I have read in another blog that she used the word "fittings" to mean things that you use to decorate your house like lighting, furniture, fixtures, etc. So I asked my husband if it was right. He said yes. But for me, fittings can only be used for pipes! LOL. What say you guys?

it's me,

janethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05436881538828075254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-274085070094717367.post-80709801596863660472008-09-19T10:06:00.005+08:002008-09-19T10:24:31.310+08:00tired looking me
My husband has been telling me that I've been looking tired these days. Owe it to making money through blogging. Indeed, I'm having fun writing until I tend to forget the time already. So for the past few days I'd been sleeping early. It's good because I wake up earlier than everybody does. That means, I have time to reflect God's goodness before I get disturbed by: "Mommy, mewk!" (samantha saying: mommy I want milk). There are really a lot of benefits from sleeping early. It's good for the skin. It's better than those acne treatments available in the market. It's also good as we wake up with lots of energy, ready to face another day. I am a night owl. I've been one ever since. I used to wake up late too. But since my boy started his school, I have to wake up early. That's why I need to sleep early now. And it's good for health. I'm all for it.

photo taken from: istockphoto.com

it's me,
janethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05436881538828075254noreply@blogger.com
