Wedding and Events Portfolio

DEMONSTRATION FOR GAZA IN NYC

I was at the demonstration for Gaza that started at Rockefeller Center and ended at the Israeli embassy today. It was amazing to see the amount of Palestinians that came out in support. I used to think that such rallies and demonstrations were useless and got nothing accomplished but today changed my mind. It was powerful and full of emotion, it was spreading the word and making people aware. It was the first time i saw Jews and Muslims marching together for a cause that had to do with the middle east. Cafe Du Monde, New Orleans

FUNDRAISER FOR A NEW CAMERA

If you see the post right before this you will know that my camera bag was stolen that had 3 of my cameras in it.

Needless to say I need a new camera asap and since this is something I wasn't prepared for I need to do some fund raising. I turn to you guys because you are my friends and most of the photos I take are of you. A couple of days ago I was looking through my photos and realized that I am not only documenting my life I have been documenting the lives of everyone around me. I have photos of many significant moments in your lives (that i was there for of course). I want to be able to continue doing that and I have 4 ways you can help...

1. I have taken photos of almost everyone I know, whether it was you having a good time at a party, your birthday dinner, a Vane lookbook shoot, a full out photoshoot, headshots, or just at a random moment that we bumped into each other. I am offering 8x10 professional prints of any moment that I have captured of you for $20 each. You can find most photos I take either on shotbybrooklyn.com, the Vane Blog, my Portfolio Blog, my facebook profile or this blog. If you cant find anything and know that I have taken photos of you email me and I will put together a gallery of your photos to pick from. And in return I will continue to document your youth :) Just email me which photo you would like and we will take it from there.

2. Those of you who are close to me have seen most of my work. Some of it is in my online portfolio. From now till December 31st I am offering prints of my work for a significantly lower price. 8x10 for $50 and 11x14 for $100. Been busy Scanning and organizing

The past couple of weeks I have been busy scanning and retouching images that I took in Pakistan. The following three images are from a series of images I took at a small canal in Lahore. Once I'm finished touching these up, I will post a full gallery.

Besides this I have been going through most of all the photos I have ever taken and compiling it into galleries that I can post to the portfolio section.

This Saturday I shot Anna on her roof, here is a photo of her and Ammar.

FINGERPAINT

My work is being featured in the FINGERPAINT group exhibition that is opening this Wednesday May 28th. It should be a kick ass time so try to stop by. Information below...

The first event from Fingerpaint will be Wednesday May 28th from 7pm - 11pm.

It will feature work from 25 emerging photographers and artists, as well a selection of specially donated pieces. Items will be for sale through a silent auction with all proceeds going to benefit Brad Pitt's Make it Right Foundation for the restoration of the 9th Ward district in New Orleans.
Held at the historic former Dia Gallery's 10,000 sq foot space on West 22nd street, the event will be an amazing showcase of emerging talent from across America for a great cause.

Fingerpaint seeks to facilitate the exposure of talented young artists, through ad hoc art events at high-end galleries in New York City. Each show is followed by a silent auction, from which all proceeds go towards the Make It Right Foundation, building green affordable housing for victims of Hurricane Katrina. The title 'Fingerpaint' evokes the do-it-yourself mentality often associated with youth culture, the childish impertinence of us 'sneaking in' to these high-end galleries, and the firm belief that our passions can be harnessed to benefit the lives of future generations.

NEW YORK PHOTO FESTIVAL 08

I've been in Dumbo for the New York Photo Festival since Wednesday. Powerhouse and the VII Photo agency have done a great job in putting this together. I'm just surprised that it took so long for there to be a Photo Festival in NY.

I didn't go to every event but heard they were all great and of course there was a party at the Powerhouse Arena almost every night. Good times, make sure you are there next year!

PDN Photo Annual

Just got back from the PDN Photo Annual Awards. Kick ass time, got to meet some old friends and made some new ones. The award ceremony seem to be of no interest to anyone, the food pretty much sucked, the venue was great and people were surprisingly friendly. All people wanted to do was network, mingle and drink.

The NY Photo festival is going on so there will be events going on all week, I'll try to post everything I get a chance to goto.

Stock Photography - Take 1

I did my first stock photography shoot this weekend. I really thought it would be the dullest most boring crap I ever shot but the shoot turned out to be a good time and the image came out pretty good.

As you can see the theme of the shoot was 'Young Girls Using Cell Phone and iPods'

The last 2 were birthday presents. Anyone who asked me what they should get me for my birthday, my reply was: Camera: don't care if its big or small, toy or real.

I got a couple of Holga pictures coming soon but these are from the first roll from the Rollei. I am in love with 120 BW Film. I'll explain why, or will try to explain why in a whole different post, because I feel I will ramble saying stuff that may only make sense to me.
