Mariah Carey Announces Mini-Concert, Tour

Mariah Carey spoke with Ryan Seacrest on KIIS FM earlier this week where she announced that she will be going on tour beginning this November in support of her latest album E=MC². No further details have been revealed yet.

Carey will be performing a mini-concert as part of the second annual Samsung AT&T Summer Krush, a free summer concert series designed to highlight Samsung’s music-centric BlackJack II mobile phone.

The concert series launches July 31st with a 35-minute performance by Carey at the Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, CA. Portions of the concert will be broadcast later that evening on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

The diva will also release a new fragrance with Elizabeth Arden this September called Luscious Pink by Mariah Carey. The follow-up to last year’s M by Mariah Carey scent will feature Tahitian tiare flower and hints of lily of the valley, pink peony, and white musk.

They’re still very much in the honeymoon phase of their fledgling marriage, and Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon look less like two superstars, and more like two teenagers in love.

The newlyweds were spotted doting on one another during a romantic dinner date at Malibu, California hotspot Nobu restaurant as the paparazzi flooded the area with flashbulbs.

And the “Always Be My Baby” songstress looked absolutely gorgeous in a white cleavage-baring dress with matching cardigan sweater, while her hubby sported a “Stop Hating” t-shirt with jeans and a pair of Air Jordans.

If you happen to be in LA at the end of this month, you can see Mariah in concert for free at the Hollywood and Highland Center as part of Samsung and AT&T’s Summer Krush concert series. She’ll take the stage July 31st with portions of the gig broadcast on Jimmy Kimmel Live! later that night.

Mariah and Nick: In Love at Disney World

How did newlyweds Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon cap off two romantic weeks together in the Bahamas? They went to Disney World, of course!

The famous lovebirds spent Tuesday enjoying the Florida theme parks' wild rides, including the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, the famous indoor coaster Space Mountain (Nick's favorite ride), and the stomach-plunging Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (Mariah's favorite.)

They also met up with the another power couple -- the biggest in all of Disney World -- Mickey and Miney Mouse! The dynamic duos mugged for photos at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, and Mariah really got into the spirit of things by wearing "Tinker Bell" earrings and a designer t-shirt depicting Mickey and Miney sharing a smooch.

She and Nick planned to top off their fun by taking in the "Wishes" fireworks show set to the backdrop of the Magic Kingdom's iconic Cinderella Caste.

If you’ve ever wanted to work with pop diva Mariah Carey, well, here’s your chance. Starting tomorrow, Indaba Music, an online community for aspiring and established producers and artists, will make available the complete stems of her third E=MC2 single, “I’ll Be Lovin’ U Long Time,” for those willing to take on the challenge of remixing the track. Members of the site will vote for their favorites, and the winner — chosen by a three-judge panel — will walk away with $5,000 and the possibility of having the track released. The winner will also earn the distinction of being Mariah’s top MySpace friend for four whole weeks.To enter, fans and aspiring producers need create a profile on Indaba, so they can download the song stems; all entries must be submitted no later than August 26.

“Mariah is the queen of the remix,” the singer’s manager, Mark Sudack, told Billboard. “This contest is a way for her to continue being a pioneer in the remix world, potentially finding a new sound, a new power, a new energy in the online space, as opposed to just the go-to producers of the moment.”

Professionals and amateurs alike will have the chance to remix the third single from Mariah Carey's platinum-plus album "E=MC2" via a contest hosted on a startup social network Web site for musicians, Billboard has learned.

Starting July 15, the complete stems of "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time," from Carey's Island release, will be made available to the members of Indaba Music, an online community for aspiring and established producers and artists.

"Mariah is the queen of the remix," manager Mark Sudack says, citing the pop star's work with dance producers like David Morales -- for whom she resang the vocals of 1993's "Dreamlover" -- and Junior Vasquez, as well as hip-hop greats like Sean "Diddy" Combs, DJ Clue, Ol' Dirty Bastard and the Lox. "This contest is a way for her to continue being a pioneer in the remix world, potentially finding a new sound, a new power, a new energy in the online space, as opposed to just the go-to producers of the moment."

The contest involves elements of fan voting, user-generated content and social networking. Entrants must join Indaba by creating a profile and can then download the song stems, work on their mix and submit it via the site by August 26. The Indaba community will pick its 10 favorite mixes via online voting. Three judges -- including Sudack, who co-executive-produced "E=MC2" -- will then select the winner. Mariah to work with Stevie Wonder?

Mariah Carey is set to record a track with her “friend” Stevie Wonder.

The ‘Touch Body’ star says she has studio time booked with the legendary singer; and it’s a huge honor to be working with him.

She says, “Knowing him and being someone I can call a friend is a massive honor.

“It’s in my schedule and it’s in his!”

Meanwhile, the 38-year-old newly-wed hinted that she’s ready to settle down and have children with husband Nick Cannon.

In a recent interview she said that Cannon would make the perfect dad — but the couple would not be raising their future children in “celebrity-land”.

She told Elle magazine, “You can get caught up in Hollywood-land or celebrity-land, and that’s maybe not the best thing for kids, ’cause they didn’t ask for it.

“I really feel like it’s very important to be responsible and to think, ‘Well, maybe if I do this it’s not the best thing for my child.

“You have to take a backseat a little bit, and as someone in the public eye, you’re not used to doing that.”

And speaking of Nick — who she married in a secret ceremony earlier this year — Mariah gushed, “I couldn’t imagine anybody that I’ve ever met being a better dad.”

Mariah is moving swiftly on to single number three from her generally very impressive E=MC2 album.

It's called 'I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time' and it ticks all the boxes for a modern-day Mariah smash. Mid-tempo R&B beat? Check. Gushingly romantic lyrics? You betcha. Guest appearance from a trendy rapper? Yup, here's T.I. for ya! And she's nice and restrained with the old vocals too.

Original it ain't, but 'Long Time' does have that touch of class that 'Bye Bye' seemed to lack. It's also got a definite Kanye West feel to it, which makes sense seeing as it was co-produced by DJ Toomp, who contributed to West's Graduation album. The UK release date is September 1.

Mariah Carey On Relationship With Nick Cannon: ‘We Didn’t Really Date’

When Mariah Carey tied the knot with actor/rapper Nick Cannon in May, she caught some people by surprise.

To many, her Bahamas nuptials seemed to come on top of a quick romance, but in a new interview with Elle magazine, Mariah hinted that the couple’s courtship was longer than people realized.

“We really kept the whole relationship aspect of it quiet,” Mariah told the magazine’s August issue. “Therefore, we didn’t really ‘date,’ you know what I mean? Because that would have been not quiet or private. I think we didn’t want to give people a chance to be like, ‘What are you doing? What are you talking about? This is so quick… Are you sure?’”

As it turns out, Nick gave Mariah two opportunities to consider his proposal – popping the question once on her roof in Manhattan, and several days later mid-flight.

“He sort of kidnapped me and took me on a helicopter ride. Then he re-proposed,” she said.

Mariah has hinted recently that children could be on the cards and she said Nick would make a great father.

“I couldn’t image anybody that I’ve ever met being a better dad,” she said.

And marriage to Nick has been nothing but a blessing.

“It’s definitely the best place I’ve ever been in my life. If you really look at my life, I’ve never had a personal life, or if I did, it was just wearing a mask and it was not existing, you know?” Mariah said. “I put my career ahead of my personal life because I think I didn’t know that I was deserving of both, because that was just how I always felt about myself. That was just my own insecurity and land in which I live.”

Mariah Carey is still in her honeymoon phase. Married since April to 27-year old rapper Nick Cannon, the singer is clearly enjoying the prime of her life — not to mention her career.

“Most people would think, ‘Okay, please! This doesn’t happen in real life!’” she tells the August issue of Elle Magazine. “When I was in an unhappy place in my life, I always wanted to be kidnapped. I just wanted a way out, but I didn’t have one.”

Carey is talking of her past, which suffice to say is glittering with more good than bad. But the few bad times she suffered were pretty big, splayed out in the media for the world to see.

Her marriage to music mogul Tommy Mottola at 23 was an elaborate affair that began with a $10 million mansion in Bedford CT, and ended in an unhappy divorce. Then there was her controversial public breakdown in 2001 that ended with the singer checking herself into a hospital for “extreme exhaustion.”

Ten years after her split from Mottola, Carey met current husband Nick, who she says literally came to her rescue.

“He sort of kidnapped me and took me on a helicopter ride,” she says. “Then he re-proposed.”

Cannon’s first proposal took place on Carey’s roof in Manhattan a couple of evenings prior and involved the hiding of a 17-carat diamond ring inside a candy ring pop.

“They’ve been calling me Cinderella since I first started out, so, of course, being Cinderella…” she laughs, adding, ““We really kept the whole relationship aspect of it quiet,” Carey says. “Therefore, we didn’t really ‘date,’ you know what I mean? Because that would have been not quiet or private. I think we didn’t want to give people a chance to be like, ‘What are you doing? What are you talking about? This is so quick…are you sure?’”

The couple clandestinely both got their first tattoos before tying the knot — hers is a butterfly on the small of her back with “Mrs. Cannon” written down the center; his, a shoulder-spanning rendering of her name — to signify their love.

Talent and fame often come with a price, but for someone who has been a tabloid target for so long, Carey displays an admirable ability to not take herself too seriously—as witnessed in the video for her record-breaking single “Touch My Body,” in which a tech support dork from “Compu Nerd” (played by 30 Rock’s hilariously geeky Jack McBrayer) comes to her mansion to fix her computer and lives out his fantasy with Mariah.

To get ready to promote her album, Mariah enlisted the talent of her French trainer, Patricia whose favorite word during workouts is, naturally, encore.

“She’s about the size of my arm — that’s her body,” Carey tells Elle, “But it’s all muscle. It’s not like she’s emaciated. She’s happy with me. She lets me eat meals now.”

In which Mariah Carey rides a dolphin and looks good doing it. The song's laidback beat, syncopated piano, occasional ascending strings, and pleasant T.I. verse make "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time" a pretty perfect roller rink jam, and that's not even mentioning the fact that Carey hilariously makes a catchy chorus out of a reference to the "me so horny" line from Full Metal Jacket. At the very least, it's a nice breather in between repeat listens of "Love in This Club".
