They seem to time the calls to perfection, exactly when we have finished our evening meal and put our daughter to bed.<br /><br />However there is a solution to enable you to opt out of receiving unsolicited sales and marketing calls to your home or mobile telephone numbers.<br /><br />All organisations (including charities, voluntary organisations and political parties) are legally required to stop making such calls to numbers registered on the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">TPS</span> unless they have your consent.<br /><br />Simply register and you will be sent an email to validate the request.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/">The Telephone Preference Service (<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">TPS</span>)</a><br /><br /><span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">BT</span> customers can also sign up to <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">BT</span> Privacy by calling 0800 121 8000 or registering online at <a href="http://www.bt.com/btprivacy" rel="nofollow">http://www.bt.com/btprivacy</a>. <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">BT</span> Privacy gives free caller display (normally £1.75 a month) to <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">BT</span> customers making calls on its network, allowing them to preview incoming calls numbers. It also registers <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">BT</span> customers with the <a href="http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/">Telephone Preference Service </a>- thereby filtering out around 90% of unsolicited marketing calls.<br /><br />I hope this proves helpfulJames Montgomeriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12144272465335798264noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-273026508348602010.post-69629275073402407422007-10-10T21:38:00.000+01:002007-10-11T07:32:39.344+01:00Google penalty for paid links<span style="font-family:arial;font-size:85%;">It's getting late now, so to kick off this <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog">blog</a> I thought it might be useful to let everyone know that <strong>Google are now penalising websites</strong> that sell links, and indeed websites with paid links included on their web pages. In addition, Google said that some sites that are selling links may indeed end up being dropped from its <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_engine">search engine</a> or have penalties attached to prevent them from ranking well. </span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:85%;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:85%;">When I say penalising, basically many websites have had their <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0"><a href="http://www.google.com/technology/">PageRank</a></span> reduced over the past week or so. It seems a fairly logical step from <a href="http://www.google.co.uk/">Google</a>, as their search engine <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algorithm">algorithms</a></span> give <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/26/AR2006042602441.html">ranking juice</a> to websites with <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">relevant</span> good quality inward links, therefore large directories and other <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">ecommerce</span> websites were <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">capitalising</span> on this with paid links. Hopefully this will mean large directories will slip down the rankings and help refine the search to produce good quality relevant results.</span>James Montgomeriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12144272465335798264noreply@blogger.com
