Sometime...Hi truevyne,

How old is your son's gerbil? Sometimes, as they get older, gerbils don't chew enough to keep their teeth filed down.

Does the gerbil have any wooden chew blocks? You could try that or a wooden house. Often, if a gerbil's teeth are getting too long, he will eagerly gnaw on pieces of wood to get his teeth filed down.

If providing wooden toys to chew doesn't help, you'll need to take the gerbil to a vet to have the teeth trimmed. (If they get too long, eventually, the gerbil will have trouble chewing food.)

Try the wooden toys first, though. Usually, providing some harder chewing material is enough to get the teeth back to the proper length.

Also, I'm not sure how old your son is, but feel free to pass along our Gerbil Kids site if he'd like to visit a kid-friendly site about gerbils.

Good luck with with your son's gerbil. If you have any other questions, feel free to post another comment here or to email me directly. :)Twin Squeaks Gerbilshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05714656377403329285noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27291167.post-1148702378985270382006-05-26T22:59:00.000-05:002006-05-26T22:59:00.000-05:00I presume you must be a gerbil expert. What's the solution.
and only one gerbil here.truevynehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05998290681038658399noreply@blogger.com
