New Hardware: Access Control Systems

Security card access systems provide total-control access to buildings or certain areas by limiting admittance and/or setting time-of-day restrictions. With the KeyScan Access Control System, an individual can pass their contactless or proximity access card in front of the card reader where the reader will decrypt the "max secure code" and authenticate it with a 3-pass encryption/decryption to unlock the algorithm. The credential is then sent to the access control management software to verify the access availability through KeyScan's proprietary 36-bit Wiegand protocol. The K-SECURE Mifare credential provides anti-counterfeiting protection using Keyscan’s Max Secure encryption technology on ‘over the air’ transmission between the reader and card.

The ASP Barcode Server Component for IIS easily adds barcode generation capability to webpages hosted on Microsoft IIS (Internet Information Server) through ASP (Active Server Pages). It is a server-side component that creates GIF or JPG images in any application that can display a dynamic URL and is compatible with all web browsers. No temporary files are created on the server because the resulting barcode image is sent directly to the browser as a base-256 binary stream which results in faster and efficient performance. Easy installation of the ASP Barcode Server Component is completed by copying just three files to the virtual directory where barcodes are required. GS1, formerly known as EAN International and Uniform Code Council, has set January 1, 2010 as the "sunrise" date for global adoption of this new barcode type. As of 2010, all manufacturers worldwide will have the option of marking their packages with GS1 DataBar codes - as an alternative to the EAN/UPC bar codes used today. Retailers must be ready to scan these packages at the point-of-sale and elsewhere within their logistics systems.

DataBar Coupon Barcode

All coupons should now include the GS1 DataBar barcode and a GTIN 12 (UPC-A) code according to the Joint Industry Coupon Committee (JICC). In January 2010, only the GS1 DataBar barcode will be required on coupons. A GS1 Databar Coupon Tutorial has been created to assist customers in generating coupon barcodes.

New Update: GS1 DataBar Products

By January 2010, GS1 requires that all POS systems support GS1 Databar (formerly RSS). This is the only symbology that will be approved for use by GS1.org to encode GTIN-14 numbers that do not start with the number zero (0).

IDAutomation.com announces the release of the GS1 DataBar Windows Forms Component, which allows high-quality, dynamic barcode generation in the .NET Framework 1.1 or greater development environment. DataBar is the new barcode type mandated in 2010 by GS1 to be used in all POS systems. DataBar barcodes encode the full 14 digit GTIN (Global Trade Identification Number), which is a limitation of UPC and EAN numbers currently used in POS. In addition to the GTIN, additional information such as country of origin, serial number, product weight, production date and expiration date may be encoded in the DataBar Expanded barcode type and scanned in for automated verification in POS systems.

The component easily integrates into Visual Studio .NET, C# and Visual Basic. The control may be used as a DLL or loaded on a form. Several methods are available that allow images to be printed directly to the printer, saved to a file or copied to the clipboard. New GS1 DataBar Scanner for Sunrise 2010 - $129

IDAutomation wants to help their customers get ahead of the game with their new DataBar and PDF417 Barcode Scanner. By January 2010, all POS systems will require retail checkouts to be GS1 Databar compliant. This is the only symbology that will be approved for use by GS1.org to encode GTIN-14 numbers that do not start with the number zero (0). The databar symbology is also being used in grocery stores, encoding expiration dates and serial numbers as well as coupons and it is being used in the health industry for small items where traditional barcodes are too large.

With this new GS1 mandate, IDAutomation has added the ability to read Databar and PDF417 barcodes to their already popular SC5 Plug 'n Play barcode scanner. This scanner will continue to read the popular linear bar codes such as Code 39, UPC, EAN, Code 128 and Interleaved 2 of 5. IDAutomation.com announces an update to their .NET Barcode Control for easy barcoding in VB. NET and C#. NET.

IDAutomation.com, Inc. announces an update to their release of the Linear .NET Barcode Forms Control which allows for easy integration of barcode technology directly into .NET Framework applications. The .NET Forms Control and DLL package update includes the Intelligent Mail symbology, strong naming with signed DLLs and enhancements to overall performance related to print methods.

The Linear .NET Barcode Forms Control is compatible with any development environment that can utilize .NET Forms Controls and DLLs. Several bar code symbologies are supported in this control including Code 39, Code 128, UCC-128, Interleaved 2 of 5, UPC, EAN, Codabar and Postnet. The 100% managed code control is very easy to use and is provided with sample projects in C# and VB.NET. By integrating barcode technology directly into .NET Framework applications, it is no longer necessary to export data to a proprietary label program to print barcodes. This package also includes the IDAutomation RFID component which encodes smart tags and labels on RFID printers from .NET Framework applications. The control has many advanced features such as device independent graphics, data binding, adjustable orientation and strong name support.
