1. Simply click on one of the order links. You will be taken to a safe and secure Paypal order page. Simply fill in your payment information and shipping address to complete your order. You will receive an order confirmation and be redirected to a payment approval page.

2. On that page you will see an email address. Please send your CLEAR headshot photo (jpeg preferred) to that secret address. Simply click on the address or copy and paste it into your email client and attach your photo. Send it off and your work is done.

WHY $80? WHAT'S THE PROCESS?

Some people feel that the $80 we charge for our custom, original and hand-illustrated zombie portraits is a bit steep. Those people are dumb. The zombie portrait process requires real artistic skill and a hell of a lot of time. Below, Rob Sacchetto briefly documents his Zombie Portrait design process and, As you can see, it is incredibly involved.

After I receive the photo head shot, the entire process begins with pencils. Believe it or not, this is the most important part of the process. These are custom portraits so the subject likeness is paramount. I have to make sure that placement, proportion and the likeness are absolutely spot on. This is why a good quality photo is important. It is also during this initial process that I look at light and facial structure and I go about creating a zombie that is still recognizable as the portrait subject. I don't use any references by the way. All this chaos comes from my twisted psyche.

With the pencils done, I begin the background work. People look at my scanned work and don't realize I use a lot of paint in my work. Here I am applying a wash. I prefer and I am most comfortable using watercolors.

I then start in on the face, again with a foundation of washes. First a flesh tone wash, then what I call a 'trauma' wash and finally I fill in all other areas of major color. I work my way down, using finer and finer brushes painting in more and more detail. I'm trying to capture the look of peeled back flesh, highlights, shadow and detail. Basically, adding some depth and dimension.

Now comes the inking of all the minor details and minute features. Lashes, eyebrows, and general tightening make this the most meticulous part of the entire process. You can really see the detail I work into portraits in the images above. I also like to hide images, little ghosts, skulls and other weird things in the portraits to break up all the serious detail sessions and to have some extra fun. I LOVE doing these portraits, by the way. This is an awesome job.

The most boring part of the process is the background - mostly because there ain't no gore n' guts to play with. Fleshing out branches is not much fun but it is needed to add a sense of depth and layers to the portrait. But, speaking of depth, the final steps really make the portrait pop. I use pencil crayons or markers to indicate highlights and detail. Hair is always a real pain in the ass and is really time consuming, though not as much as recreating a plaid shirt.

To me, a portrait is never really finished. But one of the final things I do is make the eyes come alive. I know that sounds, strange - these being portraits of the undead and all - but the wet look of the eyes are really what complete the entire process.

The entire process averages between 5 to 6 hours. However, I have spent as much at 15 hours on a single portrait when time permitted.

Rob Sacchetto was born and raised in the northern mining community of Sudbury, Ontario. He has spent some 20 years dedicated to the visual arts and has worked in a variety of mediums, including illustrated film, television, comic book illustration and concept design.

First and foremost, Rob Sacchetto is a comic book illustrator. With his comic book coming out this year titled “Rob Sacchetto’s Cape Fear”, Sacchetto will finally fulfill his lifelong goal; to publish his own creation. As writer, artist and inker on this project Rob has reworked his 12 book series time and time again. He is now ready to share it with other avid comic book fans.

The idea of Zombie Portraits came to Sacchetto following a Halloween commission. Sacchetto, and others who saw a niche, set Zombie Portraits into motion. Today, when not working on his own personal projects, orders from Zombieportraits.com keep Sacchetto busy and elbow deep in illustrated gore.

Q. What do I get for my $80?

A. You will receive an original, hand illustrated 8x10 created by Rob Sacchetto. You will NOT receive a computer generated illustration nor will you receive a digital file. You WILL receive a hard copy and full color illustration suitable for framing or freaking-out loved ones. For details on the design process, click here.

Q. Can I make any special requests?

A. Rob Sacchetto may entertain some simple requests however he would prefer to interpret your photograph without outside influence. Rob wants to bring out your ‘inner zombie’ using his own artistic license. Rest assured that you will NOT be disappointed in the results. If you have any questions or requests, please inquire BEFORE ordering.

Q. How do I start the process?

A. You can place your order online buy clicking an order link on the main page. You will be taken to PayPal and later provided with an email address to forward your photo to Zombie Portraits. Once he has your photo and payment, Rob Sacchetto will get to work.

Q. How long will it take to receive my order?

A. Expect your Zombie Portrait to ship in 3 to four weeks from the receipt of your photo. In some cases we may be able to rush your order for an additional fee. Please contact us if you have a short deadline.

Q. Any special photo requirements?

A. You must send a CLEAR headshot. Please ensure that the image and background is well lit and the image is not blurry. Photos that are not clear may be rejected and may result is a longer wait time. Zombie Portraits requires good quality pictures to provide fantastic portraits.

Q. Should I send more than one photo?

A. No. One CLEAR headshot is all that is required. Remember, this photo is the only reference Rob Sacchetto has to work from. Please ensure that your photograph is clear and your profile is positioned as you would like it to appear in your Zombie Portrait.

Q. Can I send a black & white photo?

A. Yes, that's no problem.

Q. When emailing the photo, which file format should I use?

A. Preferably jpg, however we can accept many other formats including, tiff, bitmap, and photoshop images.

Q. What about group and couple portraits?

A. Couples are indeed possible; however it is $80 a zombie, thus a combined portrait would amount to $160. However, in that case the picture you receive will be 11x14. For groups greater than two, contact us. To order a couples zombie portrait follow an order link on the main page and, on the order page, change your quantity to 2 and indicate that you are ordering a couples portrait in the note space provided. We will take care of the rest.

Q. How much is the shipping and handling and how do you come to that amount?

A. In the spirit of fairness and to better maintain our own records and minimize overhead, we have opted to go with a flat shipping rate. In all honesty, we sometimes lose money with that policy but we really want to make our service available to everyone. Our handling fee makes up the bulk of the overall attached S&H costs due to our dedication in providing you with an undamaged portrait. The supplies we use ensure that your portrait will arrive undamaged. Once a package has been sent, www.zombieportraits.com is no longer responsible for lost items,nor for items held at the border by the Customs Department.

Q. Do you ship to my country?

A. Sure do, if you want a Zombie Portrait, you will get a Zombie Portrait. We ship to Canada, the US and 'International' - that's you. It's one flat rate regardless of where you are in the 'International' world. If you have further questions, please contact us and we will accommodate your request.

Q. What if I want to order more than one portrait? Do you offer combined Shipping?

A. Sure do, there is no extra shipping charge for two portraits or three portraits, but after that add a dollar per portrait to cover packing and handling. Just order and change the quantity in the shopping cart.

Q. What about copyrite?

A. We reserve the right to use your image for promotional purposes. Other than that, provided that you are the subject of the portrait, the image is yours to do with as you wish.

Q. Do you offer gift certificates?

A. Yes we do. Simply click the banner at the left of the page to order. Once we receive payment, you will be emailed a certificate suitable for printing.

Q. I have a gift certificate. How do I redeem it?

A. Simply contact us and we will get things in motion.

Q. I'm having trouble with Paypal, what do I do?
