I know this is a little late, but Alton Brown on the Food Network discussed sterilizing sponges on a recent episode. For those sponges with the plastic backing, put them in a cup/bowl of water and boil them in the micro. They won't melt that way.

Enjoy listening to you!
SHARONMom Squadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01977151803827930820noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2700157095328052385.post-90991625406857505682007-02-06T09:19:00.000-08:002007-02-06T09:29:26.698-08:00Valentine card ideasSweethearts candy box
Attach a small picture of your child inside the box so the picture shows through the clear heart.

Marble art
(this can be done for any holiday with any shape)
Get a pizza box,at least two colors paint, marbles.Cut out paper hearts
Put heart inside pizza box put a few drops paint and marbles.Close the box and shake the box,a unique design every time.Let dry

Glue, glitter, stamps and stickers let your kids just have a ball set up a mail station for a few days where they can work on mail for family and friends.

I have found some of the cutest ideas on www.familyfun.com
crafts,family recipes.parties and traditions.
Carrie,Mom SquadMom Squadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01977151803827930820noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2700157095328052385.post-25237307133713346762007-02-01T07:53:00.000-08:002007-02-05T14:02:27.664-08:00Brookfield's RestaurantHey Working moms! Here is her feedback:

"I cannot say enough about the product. I loved it! I have three children, ages 6 yrs, 3 yrs and 8 months. I take the two smallest children to school everyday. I work there part-time. Every morning I have to carry my infant car seat, diaper bag, bottle bag and a three year old about 1-2 blocks. I carry the three year old because I don't feel safe having her walk and crossing the street. By the time I get to work/school my arms and back are killing me.

I tried it out and loved it! It was so much easier to carry everything and plus I had no strain on my back and arms. It felt as if I wasn't carrying the 3 yrs old. I did have to keep my arm around her which was no big deal. She sat supported on the seat.

This would be a life saver to me. I felt balanced for once. I didn't have her slipping off of my hip or choking me trying to stay on. Again, I can't say enough about it. I had my mother-in-law try it on and she loved it. She has problems with her wrist and back and she had no problem carrying my daughter.

Thank you again for letting me try it out."

Hope this helps anyone who is considering this product.

Jeanmarie, MOM SquadMom Squadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01977151803827930820noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2700157095328052385.post-25835572973919250192007-01-30T07:55:00.000-08:002007-01-30T09:33:33.677-08:00FASHIONABLE MOM STUFFHere's a terrific new line of clothing for moms -- it's called Couture Moms, based locally and run by Dana Lombardi. (She got the idea after seeing a woman walking around with a personalized "mom-type" t-shirt...she tried Googling for the manufacturer and when nothing showed up, Dana decided to start making her own!)

Couture Moms celebrates the important role Moms play in our families and communities with a creative line of t-shirt and hats. Cheese for birthday parties, the MOM SQUAD has some great ideas...
Consider decorating a refrig box like a pirate ship, castle, fire engine or space ship.
Cut paper goods costs by only buying theme plates/napkins for the cake and use plain for meal plate.

Use your kids toys/books on serving tables and mantels as party decor. Take "old school games" and change them to go with your theme. For Hot Potato, you can pass anything for your theme even a action figure. Play fun music that goes along. For Pin the tail on the donkey you can pin the nose on any character or hat or crown for that matter. For musical chairs try using hula hoops, carpet squares or towels. Make sure you set the game up where it is just for fun. I feel, birthdays are not the time to teach kids how to loose.

First Birthday traditions: Send a special note card with each invite for each family to write a letter to your baby or make a time capsule, buy a white table cloth and fabric markers have each guest each year write a message or add a finger or handprint.

*** Most grocery stores will give you a small baby cake with your sheet cake purchase if they know it's a baby's first birthday.
Goody bags!!K.I.S.S (keep it simple sister) attach a little card or label saying thank you for helping me celebrate.
crown
ball
legos
playdough
bubbles
necklace
baseball hat
Do a simple craft that can be taken home.
Consider one item that will be played with and treasured, than million that end up in the garbage.

When holding a Preschooler's party put all your child's toys away, keep bedroom off limits.

Play group games and keep things moving.
Please add more ideas to this post, every parent can use a new idea:). Feel free to post party questions I can respond with ideas fitting almost any theme or contact you directly.
