My new spare art table. My hubby was just going to toss out this old door. Naturally I rescued it and add a couple of saw horses and presto a table! When Kellie was over on the weekend doing art I spontaneously started painting the top and it just kind of turned out to be some distant galaxy. :) I will probably develop it a little more but it was really fun to do.

My friend Kellie and I got together on Sunday and had a blast making art. I love working with someone who inspires you. We had such a great creative charge off of each other. Thanks Kellie!We both got new journals and started working on them.

This is the folder inside the front cover. At our Mad Hatter Tea Party we made this wonderful paper. I used it on the cover and both pages. Zeke appeared to me from the abstract designs in this piece. Zeke loves a good cigar! (LOL)

In this piece I saw a knight and he ended up with a wild head piece on his helmet.

My First Give Away!

A gift bag for a bottle of wine. Its nothing fancy it is just a paper bag from the wine store that I have recycled. I used acrylic paint, drywall tape and a couple of brads and a gel pen. I had fun with it and played and like the result. I hope you will too! The front and back are completely different. I don't think the photos really do it justice. You can of course see more detail if you click on the images.

I look forward all week to sitting out on my patio (that is right off my art studio), with my morning coffee, listening to jazz, reading art books or magazines and doodling in my scribbly journal. Ahhhhh . . . I was in a playful mood and went and bought some fun colours to paint my toe nails. Teal and purple, check it out!

A couple of days ago there was the most wonderful morning sky view also from my patio.

In my journal, bliss done with wire, Keiko is watercolours and Frida is pastels.

My favorite purse and it was starting to fall apart. I looked and looked for a replacement and finally settled on something that would work but it just wasn't the same. This is a really tiny purse. It is the same size as many wallets, but it sits upright, opens easily sitting on something and is easy to see in too. It is the perfect size! It was black vinyl. I don't remember how I got the idea to cover it in Camouflage Duck tape, they could have possibly been sitting side by side on my art table and badabing! Any way, I am quite smitten with the result. :) I am going to take it for a test drive tomorrow and see how it goes. Cheers

New leather journal for sketching

A lucky find at the Papery. A leather journal on sale because it has a flaw. The paper is not suited for anything but sketching but that is just what I was looking for. I love the feel and the smell of it. I painted the edges of the pages gold and bronze.

I used a piece of the Mixed Media Madness paper that we made at our Mad Hatters Tea Party as my first page, just inside the front cover. It is so wonderful and has such great depth. :)

These pages are in my black Leather journal. Here is a spread using a stencil for the sun with some agapanthus (spelling?) wallpaper underneath it.

Dragon Fruit are as fascinating on the inside as they are on the outside.

Mad Hatters Tea Party

The weather was perfect for sitting out in the garden and having a spot of tea. :) We had our first ever Mad Hatters Tea Party. We exchanged art dolls, had show and tell, ate some delectable tid bits and made some collaborative art. What a great afternoon!

Aren't my dolls fabulous and oh so different.We all brought out cameras and experimented with different ideas. I rescued this old frame from being destroyed and it makes and interesting lawn prop.

This journal spread has changes radically from its beginnings. I perhaps got a little carried away with bubble wrap. Regular size and the Giant size too! I got further inspired by a new book "Bent, Bound and Stitched" by Josie Cirincione. Great Book using a lot of supplies you already have lying around. I re-introduced myself to wire. I made some fun shapes and some lettering too. In this spread copper wire to spell ART.

This canvas started with a transfer from a magazine. Then it sat on the shelf for a long time till it caught my attention again. I have painted over it and then added the hair with walnut ink. While wet I tipped the canvas to have the walnut ink drift this way and that and making some really interesting patterns.

Here are a bunch of tidbits I have been playing with. Yummy textures. :)

Adding Textured Frames to my journal

I rummaged through my textured papers and played around with painting them to enhance the textures. This was a fun exercise and I love textures!

I also used stencils and light moulding paste to add textures.
And here is a library pocket I covered with some beautiful paper and it turns out just the right size for ATC's. :)

Fresh Spring Face for Tote Bag

I was browsing through the magazine Haute Handbags and got inspired to spruce up a canvas tote I got at Lee Valley. I think they were only $5.00. All I did was mask off a square with wide masking tape and put down 2 layers of Gesso playing with textures as I went. Next I started in with acrylics and just had fun. Then I peeled up the tape and added the stamps. Easy!

Buried Treasure ~ The Disintigration Project

Today is the day for digging up buried treasure. I feels like that. :) Here is my first peek at my bundle as I unearthed it.

You can see the whole bundle here. Burying give much more dramatic results rather than hanging or just placing it outside. At least for me it did.

With my buried bundle I got a lot of goodies to examine and play with for future projects. Lots of gnarly stuff! Cool!!!

Altered Business Checkbook

I have had this skinny business checkbook for ages. I sat in my studio with ideas percolating when I spied it on the shelf and thought it would make a perfect book for Goddesses. I had my fellow art goddesses over on the weekend and we had a blast. I worked in my goddess journal. I am trying to figure out how I am going to alter the cover of this new Journal. It looks far too new. I think sandpaper will be involved. :) tune in for future updates.

Ok, I am quite liking this one. I used a photo of my hubby's for her hair, which I did the poster edges filter. Its a Grape Hyacinth a native wild flower to our area. I did the sketch of the face and it is on a background of an evening sky shot from my yard. Ms Hyacinth is pretty funky, no?

"The Horseman on the Roof"

A tribute to Italia and my all time favorite movie. I lost track how many times I have seen it and yet I would love to watch it again. Adventure, romance incredible cinematography. Here is yet again another digital collage.
