Today was a good day!

Well everyday is a great day!
Been really busy ever since I landed my first time studio job here at SPIN VFX and I'm learning tons from time management, my workflow, and meeting new people!

First off, 'DirtGirl World', the show that I'm helping out with, has aired on CBC on October 5th; I'm a bit late on posting. :D It can be seen at 7 and 11:30 in the morning so get up and join our world! There's a trailer on their site, click the image below.

Also, I totally forgot about this until someone asked me the other day. Next month I've also had the pleasure being part of an animated short film titled 'Live Music'. It premieres and opens for 'Planet 51' on November 20th!!! I plan to go back home that day to celebrate with friends and family; should be GREAT! Hit the image for the trailer.

And how can I forget about Nuit Blanche!!!
This was my first time and was it ever F-U-N-tastic. I mostly stayed at a free life drawing session that went from 7PM til 4AM!!! But between those times we also went to learn some dancing such as salsa, foxtrot, tango, and its harder then it looks.

BIG SCREEN

The short film produced by Mass Animation, Live Music is going to hit the BIG SCREEN opening for the CGI film 'Planet 51'! I have one shot that's in the short and am totally STOKED!

The film comes out Nov. 20 so make sure you schedule is open so we can watch it together!!! Sorry for the shameless promotion but its my first ever to hit the big screen :D

Ever since I started as a Character Animator at Spin, its been keeping me very busy which is nice!
First off are some life drawings from Toronto's City Hall; kind of rusty but it keeps me relaxed. I'll try to be doing this every weekend under the SUN!

And second of all, check out our Secret Agent thread over at CG Talk. Its a challenge a bunch of us at work are teaming up in. Its going to be tough with our work schedule and this...wish us good luck! :D

Also, as soon as MASS ANIMATION announces the theatrical release date of the short film I was part of...I'll let you know!!!

BIG NEWS!

First off I've completed my shot for Mass Animation and can't wait to see it! Its in post-production at the moment and soon enough there will be a rough edit of the short film, Live Music! I receive on screen credit and some cash! =] Yair, the director is looking for distributors so it can be released in theaters before the feature presentatio, how cool would that be!

And the biggest news of all is I got a job at Spin VFX Pro as CG Character Animator! Its only been 2 weeks going into my 3rd and LOVING IT! Even though there's quite a load of work, I don't mind it at all. Funny thing too is that the last two guys I worked with on the Pepsi Recycling project are my bosses once again =]

And the 2nd pic is an image of what we're working on, its different in a great way because there's nothing out like it. The show is called Dirtgirl World .

So the other day I was checking my email right before I was heading to bed and was notified one of my shots for the short film Live Music was selected to be in the final FILM!!! I totally forgot about it when my first 6 shots didn't make the cut but you never know =] And I couldn't sleep that night but it was worth it!

New Year!

After Mr. Obama's speech, I felt pumped, renewed, and like we were celebrating New Year's Eve. Also, being the first african american to become President of the U.S. of A was history!

Here's his transcript of the day:

“My fellow citizens: I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors.

“I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.

“Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms.

“At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because We the People have remained faithful to the ideals of our forbearers, and true to our founding documents. So it has been. So it must be with this generation of Americans.

“That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age.

“Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.

“These are the indicators of crisis, subject to data and statistics. Less measurable but no less profound is a sapping of confidence across our land - a nagging fear that America’s decline is inevitable, and that the next generation must lower its sights.

“Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America - they will be met.

“On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord. On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.

“Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America. For everywhere we look, there is work to be done. For the world has changed, and we must change with it.

Here's what I'm working on at the moment, trying to get into the character's head more. Its a design of my Brett Jubinville's steam character.

I thought it would be a great idea for the character to try out his jetpack for the very first time since the character is freshly born!

And I'm aiming to finish this by Sunday because Mass Animation is going to start on Monday!!!! Very excited!!!!!!!

Hit me up some critiques and comments.
I'm still blocking things out so I got a LOT of work ahead of me.

After not a couple of days not working on this, I've animated the face slightly and fingers but its hard to see since the movement it quick. I also took out the nose picking part and added a ball.
Here's a rough clean (still on stepped tangents), I'll be setting it to spline and polishing it up tonight for an ACE!?

Its hard to see but I'm going to have the camera truck in and he's picking his nose, gets shocked, slowly looks at where he's going to serve and does all the actions. Not really sure.

And when he lands I might have compress down for a couple of frames. I'll also be looking for times to stretch them limbs.

Well its been smoothed out and cleaned! And since I had everything on 2's, I didn't have to clean the pool as expected then usual.
