It was fun to read, but also sobering just by the thought of how this concept is directly related to the Glory of God and walking in True Holiness for the saints. I'm so glad I got to finally read this article. I have put it off for weeks but I believe I needed to hear this in such a simple but direct way to the heart, as I have made 'plans' to move over to the south as a part of the process. May the Lord help all of us to step out in faith... Amen. Thank you again.

JosephJosephhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17018585648893489201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26611737.post-11027171711822474892007-09-26T06:42:00.000-07:002007-09-26T06:42:00.000-07:00Manette,Thanks for your question, it is a common o...Manette,

Thanks for your question, it is a common one. First let me say that my answer here is not in defense of the internet. My answer will only deal with the technical aspects of the question. Every person has to decide their level of involvement with the internet. Personally, I would not have it at all, and especially not in my home if it were not for the ministry work. I think the internet is great for learning and for communication and for us "separated" brethren, it is a great place for fellowship and for exchanging information. When my office is built, I will likely only have internet at the office, and will only be uploading information/sermons, etc. once or twice a week.

Anyway, to your question. Our internet is accessed through what they call "wireless broadband" and specifically "wireless radio". You can get internet wirelessly by satellite as well. We have a pad antenna on a pole attached to our cabin which receives and transmits internet to an antenna on top of the Santa Anna mountains about 10 miles away. Our "ordnung" or the rules of the community require that we not have cables/electricity coming on to the property from outside. The wireless internet allows us to use the internet without violating the ordnug. Only a few of us in the community have the internet (us and the Siffords) since we are the ones utiizing it for ministry purposes. Everyone else drives over here a couple of times a week or so and checks email or surfs wirelessly from their laptops.

I hope that answers your question.

Your servant in Christ Jesus,

Michael BunkerMichael Bunkerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10480186948086853961noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26611737.post-27881885042647572402007-09-25T13:15:00.000-07:002007-09-25T13:15:00.000-07:00Michael, I very much enjoy reading your posts and ...Michael, I very much enjoy reading your posts and agree with you on almost everything. I do have a question which you might have addressed before I began reading your blog. How can you be off grid and still be on the internet? Please don't think I'm being impertinent, I was just wondering...
ManetteManettenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26611737.post-70726771097770249122007-09-24T13:11:00.000-07:002007-09-24T13:11:00.000-07:00Showing how industrialism has the same goal of tho...Showing how industrialism has the same goal of those who had gone to build a city and a tower (Babel) talked about in Genesis 11 was an eye opening connection for me.

How true it is that everything designed to be plugged into an outlet is for the pleasing of our flesh in one way or another.

The suggestions you give for getting off-grid are practical and do-able, though it requires a big change to the way we think (decolonization) and a desire to seek and walk in the old paths.

DebbieDebbienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26611737.post-75517324769809631922007-09-24T11:31:00.000-07:002007-09-24T11:31:00.000-07:00Michael, thank you for this series, it is very hel...Michael, thank you for this series, it is very helpful in helping us realize the wiles of the devil to tie us into this world system and how we can start the separation from it.

LiviuLiviuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02445041112530977098noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26611737.post-76578926132515849142007-09-21T13:36:00.000-07:002007-09-21T13:36:00.000-07:00Michael, we appreciate this series very much, than...Michael, we appreciate this series very much, thanks for all the info/tips....I really don't have anything at this point as far as questions or for discussion, but will keep reading and hopefully learning. Our goal remains to be in that boat pushing off from the dock ASAP.

One thing I've thought of, maybe you could, over time, make a list of material things one could try to attain while in transition mode, that would be useful once one is living the agrarian life. Of course, there are many obvious ones, but maybe some things wouldn't be that obvious until you're actually living it. But after we have spent years participating in Satan's system, a ball bat is more Spiritually rewarding than a feather anyway!

LonnieLonniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05399830592244585832noreply@blogger.com
