I told the officer, that I don't live there. He accusingly replied "What if you went to Pasay to beat him up ?". Well, they later found out it wasn't me when they checked both of our middle names.

My point ? No point. I'm just sharing my discovery which I find amusing.

And then there's a real DJ's blog over at
http://djjay-t.blogspot.com/jaydjhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00885561994032320274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26571240.post-76848365226535763332008-07-08T08:22:00.003+08:002008-07-08T08:32:29.823+08:00Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs of 2008After carefully selecting blog nominations from blogs I regularly visit, these are my personal picks for The Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs for 2008 which I also encourage you to check out.

Miss Placed (travel and lifestyle blog)
http://missplaced-direct.blogspot.com/
It's a travel and lifestyle blog focusing on routes and sites around Metro Manila and the Philippines.

You Got Tech (tech blog)
http://www.yougottech.com/
It's a technology blog for people who may seem intimidated about technology. There are several factors to consider: market share, target audience, advertisement impact, market penetration, cost component and much more. A lot of planning is also involved: conducting surveys, coordinating with numerous companies, making estimates, preparing campaigns and press releases to name a few. To add to the combinations, the internet, being a 4th medium is added to the conventional tri-media making implementation in each medium a project in its own.

A company could attempt to tackle all these on their own but it's simply not a matter of implementation. Proper planning and marketing experience would make a campaign successful.

Lucky for us, a PR Agency in the Philippines is not hard to find and communicate our requirements to target our desired result.

A PR Agency can provide the necessary strategies and planning. With PR agencies, companies can focus on their expertise while PR agencies, do the magic in the marketing scene.

Some services helpful and essential for proper promotions include Marketing Communications Consultancy, Media Strategy/Strategic Media Campaigns, Media Relations, Events Management and Corporate Communications and Graphic Design. Whichever services a company may need, a PR Agency in the Philippines is ready to serve and assist.jaydjhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00885561994032320274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26571240.post-9548516551170778232008-07-07T21:53:00.007+08:002008-07-07T22:06:43.614+08:00The Love BusI remember these blue-colored buses all around the Metropolis in the '80's and early '90's. They were called the "Love Bus". These buses had hearts painted all around the bus with simple phrases. During their time, they were popular cause aside from the "love bus" branding, they were air-conditioned. This was popular at a time when majority of the buses lacked the luxury of cool airconditioning.

I remember riding one a long time ago and I was seated beside a "crush" of mine. How very apt we sat together inside the Love Bus.

These buses seemed to have been phased out or simply decommissioned in favor or newer buses.

Yesterday, I saw one which looked very much like the original Love Bus with some paint job and modification. The hearts were still there but the heart had the words "Use Bus". That was kinda weird if you're familiar with the Love Bus. I wonder if it's because it's very used ? The bus had a "United Workers" label on it and seemed like it was scaled down from public transport to a company bus.

So this post pays tribute to the memory of those buses popularly known as "The Love Bus".jaydjhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00885561994032320274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26571240.post-35878153428852199942008-07-07T21:06:00.004+08:002008-07-07T21:50:24.584+08:00Do You Have A Monster Mom ?I was able to watch the latest movie of mom-daughter tandem Annabelle Rama and Ruffa Gutierrez entitled "My Monster Mom". I rarely watch Filipino movies, so whenever I do, it sticks to my head. This one though stuck to my ears. Throughout the movie, Annabelle Rama was shouting. Her decibel levels are much more louder than anyone else in the cast, including sound effects. Visit the movie's official website and do a mouseover on Annabelle Rama for a sample. (Caution: multiple mouseovers may affect your eardrum)

It was a bit unbearable which made me think that if I couldn't stand an hour of constant shouting, how much more could I bear with a mom (of her character) in real life. I couldn't. It made me have newfound respect for Ruffa Gutierrez for her to endure (and withstand) her real-life mom who tends to be a replica of her movie persona.

Our relatives all speak in loud voices and so I'm used to that environment. Speaking loudly and shouting though are two different things. Loud does not necessarily translate to anger. My mom who has difficulty hearing in her left ear requires me to speak louder if her left side is faced towards me.

One trait I did notice from the movie is that anything negative attitude portrayed by any member of the family could be perceived as the general norm for the entire household. (Like one mom didn't approve of the boy courting her daughter cause she didn't like the mom's attitude of that boy). Of course, this can't be conclusive all the time, but pop culture may perceive it like the military rule "Mistake of one is the mistake of all" where teamwork comes into play. So it's best for any member of a household to be considerate of their actions for the sake of the family.

Peace to all moms !

Photo credits: http://www.igma.tvjaydjhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00885561994032320274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26571240.post-73482325984843191522008-06-29T17:52:00.008+08:002008-06-29T18:27:57.852+08:00Can Drugs Make You More Intelligent ?In Manila, drug addicts caught by police are reported on local news. Whenever they're interviewed by media, they usually keep quiet and hide their faces in shame. This suspect though was accused of stealing though police speculated he may be a drug user.

Surprisingly, this suspect had a handful to say and take note, had a good command of English. His conversational skills were impressive and didn't show any signs of addiction... until you listen closely to what he's actually saying. It drops from impressive to outrageously silly.

Here are some quotable quotes:

(0:43) Suspect: "I'm not stealing the tricycle. I asked permission from the owners before I take it."

(0:53) Suspect: "How can we accuse one without further investigation on side by side... because in a triangle, there are 3 sides right ? I only have 4 sides and they have 4 sides. How many degrees is the 3 side?"
Reporter: "How many?"
Suspect: "36 degrees."

(1:16) Suspect (talking about the tricycle): "Of course I started it and I'm rrrrrrrrrrr... rooming."
Reporter: "Roaming ?"
Suspect: "Yes, I'm roaming".

(1:35) Suspect: "What is the truth about it and what is it about .. we cannot accuse upon people without sabi sabi sabi so we can take a square root from the right side square."

(2:00) Suspect (answering if he uses drugs): "Drugs. Ah, yes of course! I buy from the Mercury Drug."

Moral: Taking drugs may make you sound intelligently stupid.
SABLAY !!!jaydjhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00885561994032320274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26571240.post-66828757844215921442008-06-25T19:15:00.000+08:002008-06-29T20:17:49.946+08:00Which is Real and Not Real ? (Toycon 2008)Last June 14, I, together with Aileen and Miguel got to attend the 7th Toycon (Philippine Toy Convention) at Megamall. I skipped a couple of years so it was exciting to attend one where toys and toy fanatics all come together. It was a successful event based on the jampacked capacity and long lines entering the Megatrade Hall.

There was lots of everything, lots of character figures, comics, cosplayers, video games, graphic artists, and last but not least, toys ! The 2-day event was filled with displays, games, contests, programs and sales. You could feel how big the toy community was with the crowd-goers of all ages excited with everything going on.

I was able to take some pics but not that extensive cause I was also busy being awed by stuff all around here and there. When I viewed the pics I took, it was like those statues which may have looked obviously real (with a person inside) weren't and what wasn't real was. Here's some examples:

This is real.

This is not real.

This is real.

This is not.

This is real.

This is not.

And my all time favorite. It was a simple point and shoot minolta camera. I was surprised to find out that there was film inside. I had no idea what shots were taken using this camera. I did have a hunch that whatever may have been taken, was destroyed cause the last time I think I used this camera was 4 years ago.

I know that film has an expiration date. Plus the camera hasn't been turned on for years and most likely, the batteries may have leaked and render useless.

So I took the camera to the nearest developing shop and asked if there's a possibility that any pictures taken with the film inside the camera would still be intact. The guy who assisted me said that chances are slim and if they do get developed, the pictures may be unrecognizable due to the duration of the film.

I took the chance and had it developed.

I was surprised to find out that out of the 36 shots, 7 shots were successfully developed. Except for one picture, all of them were clear and looked as if they were shot yesterday.

From the very first picture which was a family reunion, I knew that the pictures have been shot more than 5 years ago cause my Tita whose nearing her 5th death anniversary was in the picture.

The next 2 pictures were my college friends with their babies during one our college reunions. All those babies in the picture are now around 6 - 9 years old.

The next set were 2 pictures of my ex-girlfriend. I had to exclaim to the store assistant how old these pictures are cause I haven't seen her since we broke up.

And the last pic was my cousin who I remember borrowing this camera of mine years back.

It's amazing how time flies yet how time stands still in a photograph.

jaydjhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00885561994032320274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26571240.post-58677034475812045102008-06-11T16:30:00.000+08:002008-06-12T18:11:04.087+08:00Race Cars
Looks like the city of San Juan has a nice hefty budget for its police cars.

I saw this police car around Greenhills. This one is accessorized with mag wheels, a spoiler, a custom-made front and rear to make it appear lowered, a custom paint job and some decals. When I tried to activate my installation online, it always produced an error message saying that it couldn't activate my Windows at that time. I put it off since there was a 30 day trial period. I may have forgotten about it until Windows alerted me earlier that I only have 9 days remaining to activate. And so I called Microsoft Philippines Customer Support at 672-7272.

I'm very much used to calling customer service for my credit card. I've occasionally called some other customer service hotlines for product support, inquiries and the like and the conversation usually goes back and forth from English to Filipino and Taglish at times. I don't mind. I just been accustomed to it.

It's my first time to call Microsoft Philippines though. I've visited their offices in Makati City twice during digitalfilipino.com events that were sponsored and hosted by Microsoft. So since I knew they had a country office, I assumed the Microsoft customer service I would be calling was just a few kilometers away.

After going through a series of computer-operator assisted questions by keying in my preferred options, I was finally redirected to a customer support personnel. After the usual greeting, I was surprised that the lady asked which country I'm calling from. It seems I had been redirected to their customer service located in another country. She had a British accent and I was caught offguard and immediately switched to International comprehensible & perfect English speaking mode. (I sometimes speak English with Filipino-influenced intonation when talking casually).

After explaining my situation, I had to give a 42 digit installation ID generated by my Windows software and after confirming the license authenticity, she gave me another 42 digit ID to input.
After keying it in, it worked like a charm and produced the message that a I successfully activated my Windows product.

After the call, I immediately thought it was an international call for fear of being billed for it. But I remembered that I called Microsoft Philippines local customer service number which they just forwarded. It's funny that a lot of call centers are based here in the Philippines for any worldwide support. With Microsoft, it was the opposite. I called up locally anticipating talking to a Pinoy and ended up speaking with a foreign Microsoft representative.

I wonder if I chose the Tagalog option menu if I would end up speaking with a Pinoy or not.jaydjhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00885561994032320274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26571240.post-56462335166300625432008-06-04T18:05:00.000+08:002008-06-12T16:30:02.825+08:00Lizard is In For a Ride of Its LifeI saw this lizard at the back of a van parked at one of the several Starbucks branches in Makati. It's a real lizard, not those made out of rubber and stuck on cars to fool people.

This lizard actually thinks it's stuck to a wall. I remember years back, a baby lizard thought I was a wall since I was standing vertically near it. And being the inexperienced lizard, it didn't know any better and ran towards me and clung on for its life. Well this lizard has more clinging on to do if it wants to stay alive.

Once that van starts a-rollin', the poor lizard is gonna start a-freakin' out.

I visualize it as a high speed car chase movie scene with the star hanging on the car roof while the car sways left and right. And if it's gonna be on the highway with speeding cars, the car behind may either have a huge splat the window wiper can't remove or instant roadkill and be as flat as the road concrete.

Okey, that's the sadistic side of me talking I think. Either way, this lizard is going places. Bonjour !jaydjhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00885561994032320274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26571240.post-78517473227017931672008-06-03T07:51:00.006+08:002008-06-03T08:14:43.566+08:00Unlocking a Locked LockI bought a new TV stand for my TV cause my old one was literally disintegrating. The TV wasn't the only thing on my old TV stand and so I had to do some spring cleaning and throw out anything useless which is usually a long process for me cause everything will then become debatable whether it constitutes use or not.

One of the last few items I found while cleaning out the remainder of the stuff was an old padlock. I clearly remember this used to be my college padlock donated by one of my 15 other friends who shared the same small cramped locker. Well I forgot the combination, and I forgot which 15 other friends I shared the locker with. And I guess posting it on our college mailing list asking for the combination would make me a laughing stock.

I remember a scene in the movie "An Officer and a Gentleman" with the commander stressing to his squad that an unlocked padlock is a useless padlock because the essence of a padlock is to hold something locked. Hence, an open padlock hanging on some box or container is the same thing as an open box/container. So a locked padlock is serving it's purpose in life. I agree.

I also agree that a locked padlock locking nothing but air is also useless because it is not locking anything. Furthermore, a locked padlock with a combination unknown to anyone is useless cause chances of it being opened are nada.

And so I reach my the verdict. This padlock is USELESS.

In memory of the padlock, here is its last photo before joining my trashcan on June 2, 2008.
May you find more adventure wherever you may end up.jaydjhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00885561994032320274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26571240.post-417835373106741582008-06-02T12:42:00.010+08:002008-06-02T14:58:02.597+08:00Pinoy Big Brother Goes Beyond HouserulesI've been a fan of Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) ever since day 1. I do have a couple of rants which overall won't prevent me from being a fan of the show.

The original concept of Big Brother is for strangers (housemates) to live inside one house for a certain number of days without the luxury of communication to the outside world. Their interactions within the house render a social experiment of how these people would get along (or not) despite different backgrounds, upbringing, culture, beliefs and attitudes. This ingredient alone makes the show exciting and unpredictable.

However lately, and especially for this season, the show has has been bending the house rules. On their website, the top houserules listed are these:

No TV. No radio. No newspapers. No telephones. No internet! Totally no communication with the outside world. Twelve new housemates are handpicked by Kuya to face his challenges.

The TV, radio, newspapers, phones and internet have been strictly implemented. Aside from "outside world" pertaining to any physical space beyond the perimeter of the Pinoy Big Brother house, it also interprets as interaction with any being from the outside world as well.

So far the following have entered the house:

1. Kuya Kim
2. Gaby de la Merced (to teach them driving skills)
3. a whole group of military officers (for daily military training)
4. a guardian for each housemate
5. "houseplayers" who are unofficial housemates
6. an indigenous representative from Palawan

And as for staying inside the house and limit interaction with themselves, they've managed to
1. be flown in to Palawan (for their "Survival" adventure and be toured by boatmen to the Underground River
2. take actual driving lessons (with a certified instructor beside them) in a warehouse and grassy secluded area

I haven't been able to watch the show on a nightly basis but I'm sure there are more.

I remember the very first Pinoy Big Brother season and they were really confined to the house with very minimal interaction with the outside world. If there were any interaction at all, it was usually given as a prize for a task or game and limited to a 100 second encounter with a loved one in person or on the phone.

The producers may say that the game has evolved and they are making twists and surprises here and there. I don't mind the twists and turns as long as the original concept of the reality TV show remains intact. I could see future aspirants wanting to join PBB because they would have the chance to go places and meet people, which is the opposite of what the Big Brother concept is: isolation from the outside world.

Hey, I'm still a fan.

jaydjhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00885561994032320274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26571240.post-57345483177114314202008-05-29T09:54:00.003+08:002008-05-29T10:05:53.119+08:00Flavored ColaI'm not really a Coke and Pepsi drinker. In fact, whenever presented with the option of softdrinks and something else, I'll choose the "something else".

I do enjoy variations of the usual softdrink. Like when Cherry flavored Coke and 7-up came out, I enjoyed drinking that.

Lately, I saw this new product called Pepsi Deluxe. It was in a tall 250ml can different in shape from the usual softdrink cans. It's shaped more like those Del Monte fruit juices. At the bottom it said "Strawberries and Cream". Wow ! A cake/ice cream flavored softdrink ? This I had to taste. And it didn't disappoint. It really did had a tad of strawberry flavor and a slight aftertaste hinting you just ate a cake with cream. What's best is that it's a zero calorie cola.

There's another flavor but I forgot what it was. If I'm not mistaken, it's caramel flavored cola.

Bottoms up !jaydjhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00885561994032320274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26571240.post-61214082632001003922008-05-22T18:18:00.008+08:002008-05-23T09:10:30.606+08:00Congratulations David !Season 7 of American Idol has just been fantastic. A lot of ups and downs for the contestants from audition to finale made enthusiastically me watch this season. We also have our 2 Pinoys Reynaldo Lapuz, who didn't make it through preliminary auditions but did make an impact for his white costume and original song "You Are My Brother". Then there's Ramiele Malubay, another Pinay, who made it to the Top 12.

But topping it all off and my bet from early on was David Cook. I have to admit I was blown away by all his own versions of the popular songs. The two songs that stood out for me were his version of Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby" and Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean".

Congratulations to you David Cook ! I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing you more after American Idol.

Here's David Cook's commercial for the video game "Guitar Hero" doing a scene from the popular movie "Risky Business" which made Tom Cruise a star. I loved this solo performance of Tom in the movie and I equally think that David has made the same impact performance. Hoping David gets to that status as a rocker too.

Rock on David !

Update: For those who want to see how close to the original David Cook practiced his choreography, check out the original scene from "Risky Business" with a very young Tom Cruise.
jaydjhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00885561994032320274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26571240.post-46411435760000019982008-05-21T15:47:00.000+08:002008-05-21T16:09:35.226+08:00Holy David !Last week I was at the mall during one of those mall-wide sales. I went to Comic Odyssey to check out any transformers figures they may possible have on sale.

While I was browsing through the items, one of the salesmen approached me and asked what my religion is. I found it soooo strange to be asked that and wondering why he ask. Being careful of what I was going to answer, I answered him with the question, "Why do you want to know ?".

What I had on my mind were those people who approach you, talk about faith and then try to recruit you to convert and join their religious sector. I thought his next line was going to be something like "Do you believe in God ?" or "Do you believe in your faith ?" type of questions.

Instead, he answered that I was holding a book that had the words "Merciful God In Heaven Above!" printed at the back in bold. What he failed to read was the very next line which read "An Altogether New Collection of Top Ten Lists!".

I was holding An ALTOGETHER NEW BOOK OF TOP TEN LISTS LATE NIGHT DAVID LETTERMAN, which I was reading to pass time and got it cheap on sale (P15.00 only). It's a joke book for crying out loud. What would make you think I'd be holding a bible with David Letterman's face on the cover ? I had to explain to him it was a joke book and had nothing to do with religion. I don't think I look THAT holy to pass off for a preacher.jaydjhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00885561994032320274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26571240.post-82348225642915199282008-05-21T07:27:00.004+08:002008-05-21T07:44:40.847+08:002's 4 YaI just checked my blog stats and my last post happened to be my 200th post. Yey ! (jump for joy)

Curious enough, I also revisited my very first post and it was more than 2 years ago. So I've been blogging for over 2 years and I've reached my 200th post. Based on those figures, I average like 2 posts a week.

This blog has 2 urls, http://jaydj.blogspot.com and http://jaydj.info, which also redirects here.
And this blog is "sometimes" mirrored on my multiply account for a total of 2 places on the web where you can find my blog. I'm also a team member of 2 other blogs.

Continuing the 2's trend, I wish my blog double the readers and double the delight they get when they visit. So if I have 2 readers, I think I can reach my objective of 4. LOL! Kidding ! I do hope I have more than 2 readers.

So here's 2 ya all ! Cheers !jaydjhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00885561994032320274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26571240.post-36916298982444336952008-05-20T21:05:00.007+08:002008-05-20T23:52:52.075+08:00Back to TeendaysEarlier today I attended "The Click Five Happy Birthday Party" event. I admit that I didn't know much about the band. I even thought they were a '60's or '70's group with the likes of similar names such as "The Commodores", "The Supremes", "The Cascades", "The Beatles" and all those other names that started a "The (insert word)... " trend.

I had to research on them and so I visited their official website and at least realized that some current hits I've been hearing on the radio are theirs. And it's Kyle and Joey's birthday, 2 of the members of the band, hence the event theme name.

Anyway, when I got to the venue, I thought it was going to be one of the usual press conference events where you are served food, you mingle with press people, wait for the artist, listen to the artist perform a bit followed by a panel discussion or open forum type of format.

Instead, I was greeted with a registration desk presenting me with the things I could do while inside the venue. The sponsors each had their own sections offering something for the attendees. There was makeup at the Faceshop booth, free self-portraits at the Clique Booth and Sony booths, different kinds of candy at The Candy Corner, face painting at Skechers (the only booth that didn't appear relevant to their product) and food booths like It's Cool! drinks and Yoshinoya.

Aside from this, majority of the people present were female and teens or to be more specific, screaming female teens (that's the effect The Click Five has and you gotta love 'em for that). Thanks to friendster.com, a lot of the teens knew each other from being part of The Click Five friendster fan pages.

As I was feeling the culture and mood of the event, it suddenly hit me... it felt like a school fair during my teendays. School fairs had different booths like the jail booth, kissing booth and all other kinds of activities and entertainment for all. The average age during the event further made me step back and smile as to witnessing something similar to what I had experienced during my high school and college years. The girls were screaming each time the members of The Click Five were mentioned or shown on video. I wonder who was the "in" band during my teen years ? hmmmm... I'd like to answer "NSync" (to hide my age) but I think it was Color Me Badd... ok it was Menudo, but that was like before my teen years.

It was all fun and I had a good time lining up at some of the booths. I skipped the make-up booth for obvious reasons. The face painter said that he could paint the hand but I was afraid that when I perspire, I'd accidentally wipe it on my forehead and it would smudge like I had charcoal on my face and look like I'm in guerilla warfare or worse, taong grasa (grease person).

So The Click Five is coming to Manila for a concert on May 30. If they were there during the event, I'd ask them to have a pic with me at the Clique Booth...then we could be known from thereon as The Clique Six.... When I searched for wrestling themes, I found this strange theme. Why it's Manny Pacquiao ! In front of a huge Batista ! I'm not too keen on using this as my celphone's wallpaper but perhaps the other 6,636 people who downaloaded it are.

If you want to add to that number, you can get it here:
http://gallery.mobile9.com/f/319727/jaydjhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00885561994032320274noreply@blogger.com
