Billiards/pool Laser training device aid

I came accross a billiards laser training device on an online auction. This is quite an interesting item. You just slot in a coupe of batteries then slip the device over your cue stick (different sized adapters are supplied) When tyou turn the end of the barrel the device switches on and you are presented with a vertical laser line which follows down the cue to the table. This is the sort of device that you can take out on a practice day to try and correct stroke and aiming problems. Altogether a decent device but I would like to try some of the other items on the market.

Craftsman Cues

Craftsman Cues are a small family run business that produces snooker and English pool cues. They have been producing cues for over 20 years. By being a small company they can have greater reign over quality and customer care.

I decided to purchase the Panther cue, which is one of the most popular cues among customers. I also decided to get a customised version instead of one off the shelf, with 3/4 butt joint, 9mm tip, 57" long and 18.5 ounce weight. manufacture was around 6 weeks until delivery, which was a very quick time.

The cue feels great in your hand, a nice balance throughout. The finish to the cue is of a very high standard, the splicing is even throughout and the actual wood finish is great, which makes it stroke very smoothly trough your bridge hand.

Craftsman cues also sell various other items e.g. cases, chalk, balls and other accessories.

Talisman Cue Tips

I received my new cue the other day and I thought I'd give one of my Talisman tips a try on my new snooker cue. The first Talisman tips were developed in 1999 by Tony Jones, Tony had exprience in producing laminated tips before for other companies and could see a few improvements that could be made to make a better playing tip.

Talisman billiards accessories is a small company employing around 8 people, this gives greater care and attention to manufacturing and customer support. Tony personally answers every email sent to him, this type of customer support is rarely seen in this day and age.

So what did I think of the tip?
Well, fitting was easy, just the usual procedure. The tip I purchased was a soft tip as this is my preference. Since I play snooker and use a snooker cue I had to cut the tip down after gluing which can be a little time consuming. When I glued it on I decided to take it for a test run at my local club. By the time I had played a few shots I reaised that this tip was very good. Achieving spin was not a problem, infact I had to be careful so as not to add unintentional spin to my shots. The tip grips the cueball well and I really like the feedback that the tip produces. I really like this tip and believe that this is the best tip which I have tried so far, but as with all tips it is just a matter of preference for your style of play.
