July 4, 2008 is in the books with memories of a huge crowd and chamber of commerce weather. The high point was the laid back fun at Brooks Field following the parade with kites, Frisbees, Mad Mountain Scramblers playing some great tunes and kids having a blast with organized games, sack races, face painting, paper hat making, and more. Oh, and the parade was great too! A few changes in store for next year like the return of the Air National Guard fly-by among other things. Have a great summer.

Perfect Day Planned

Chamber of Commerce weather, floats, food, music, fun and fireworks. Could there be a Air National Guard fly by this year? We’ll just have to see! Get to town early, and stake out your spot. Wear your colors, wacky hats and face paint. All donations at the gate go to support the event. No one is paid to produce the day’s festivities. Give generously if you love the 4^th! We’ll see you there on Friday, with 7,000 of your closest friends!

Music All Day Long!

Jimmy Yozell will be playing the porch of the Warren Store as noted earlier. Once they are done playing in the village, they will move lock, stock, and guitar up to Sugarbush Lincoln Peak to play in the evening leading up to a spectacular Fireworks Display! Events at Sugarbush run from noon to dark on July 4.

Jimmy Yozell & Friends will ONCE AGAIN lead us in street dancing following The Parade. Hang out and dance in the street by the Warren Store or stroll up to Brooks Field for kids/family activities, beer and food. Wind your way up to Sugarbush by Mad Bus (free!) for more food, music, activities. Bring on the Summer!

Ever-favorite Jimmy Yozell will be returning for the 39^th(?) year to provide street dancing music no Main Street following the parade. No one rocks it like Jimmy!

Remember, Warren’s Main Street closes as 8:30am on July 4 to vehicular traffic. Please plan accordingly.

Rt 100 between Waterbury and Waitsfield will be closed June 25 – July 6. Parade goers from I-89 north should take exit 9 and Rt 100B to Waitsfield/Warren. Alternate route from Waterbury is Rt 2 East to 100B

Also Freeman Brook Bridge (Brook Road just west of School Road) will be one lane and 10feet wide. Float bringers beware

The bridge over Freeman Brook (Brook Road, just west of School Road) will be under construction by July 4 and will be one lane. It will be safe for pedestrians or vehicles, but the width between railings will only be 10' wide. The railings will be 30" high, so presumably a float could hang out over the top of the railings if the wide load was above the 30" rail.

FIREWORKS Return to the actual 4th

It's official - the 2007 Fireworks at Sugarbush's Lincoln Peak will be on Wednesday, July 4, 2007!
We are back to the old tried and true 4th of July in the Valley - get some sleep on the night of the 3rd, get up early on the 4th, come to Warren for the Parade, dancing in the streets and festivities, head home in the early afternoon for a nap in the hammock or in the grass, then the night of the 4th - mosey on up to our favorite ski resort or on the 7th hole of your favorite Golf Course and watch the booms, bangs and pops of a fantastic fireworks show celebrating this great countries founding day.

Since the 4th of July Committee is taking over paying for the 4th, we are asking for donations to help cover the added expense....if you love the 4th and watch the fireworks, please give what you can at http://www.warren4thofjuly.com/sponsorships.htm

Looks like Eric Michaels and Tom Beardsley from WDEV will once again Broadcast the activities of the Warren 4^th of July live from the front porch of the Pitcher Inn starting early in the morning on Wednesday the 4^th! So if for some reason you cannot make it to the 4^th this year, at least you can listen to it on WDEV FM or AM and streaming audio on the web.

MadBus a growing success on the 4th of July

MadBus just announced transport totals for the Mad River Valley on July 4, 2006 as 1,110 riders. A huge increase from last year and great news concerning global warming and public transportation.
