If you love animals, this will shock you........but it will show you why you must buy your pets from reputable breeders, or rescue agencies. If people quit buying pets from these disgusting people, they wouldn't be in the business because all they want is the money.

Our intrepid guide gave an overview on her blog of how it all works.
While I am an excellent traveller, and usually stick to the prescribed itinerary.....I did wander away for a while to do some fair isle swatching....so I missed the second sock. But I'm back on track with the third sock, the Spiraling Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03180956376185496763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25501207.post-20915288889542775292008-05-12T11:56:00.003-04:002008-05-12T12:00:43.577-04:00I'll take the lot.....Sale"I'll take the lot" says Harry to the trolly lady of Hogwart's Express........

It's like reading a very detailed travel diary of someone. Because it's someone I'm intrigued by, I found it interesting....at first.....but it became (to me) very same old same old......no insight into the person at all. I finished reading it with no end of book reaction. Nothing. Maybe it's just me? I don't know. Well, what can I say........The main thoroughfare at the Festival is like going to the CNE on a Saturday afternoon......it's so packed and the lines to the food vendors and select booths are so long......
especially the line to buy Festival merchandise -- I swear to you, people waited in line for hours just to buy a t-shirt!!!!!

The anticipation was killing me, I had to start "Road Movies".........
What a coincidence that quite a bit of what I've read so far deals with being in and around Washington.....and here I am about to get on a plane tomorrow to fly to Dulles Airport for MS&W!
Trying to figure out when this Road Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03180956376185496763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25501207.post-65724133847858055942008-04-28T16:49:00.009-04:002008-04-28T17:04:08.294-04:00I can't possibly be the first......To get a box in the mail, that contained something so nicely wrapped that you don't want to open it, almost.......but you know what it is and you can't wait!
I have about 20 pages of The Golden Compass to finish before I start this.
I'm hoping that this book gives me some insight into the author, we'll see.Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03180956376185496763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25501207.post-7344973900427123652008-04-25T13:49:00.002-04:002008-04-25T13:52:50.216-04:00Clearance PageI'm cleaning up around She Ewe Knits and finding odd balls and small lots of yarns.....so I've started a "Clearance" page over at She Ewe Knits.
As I find more I'll be adding -- and will try to keep it up to date by removing what's no longer available ok?
I'll try........

For years I've wanted to go to the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival. This year it was looking good....my guild was going to run a bus tour...what could be greater than a bus full of knitters headed to the biggest party in town!!!! Unfortunately, not enough knitters signed up, so the trip was cancelled.
Then I thought Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16324558034823652812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25501207.post-44392692778714913392008-04-14T09:04:00.003-04:002008-04-14T09:11:56.616-04:00Bartholomew's Tantalizing SocksKnit in Opal hand-dyed yarn, these socks were a fun knit -- unusual (to me) arch and heel.
I wish now that I'd knit one size smaller, so I bought another skein of yarn to do just that!
Daisy wondes when it's going to be Spring.....she's still sleeping on the heat registers.

On a day when the whole world is going to show it's support for energy conservation by turning the lights out for one hour.....it seems appropriate for me to turn the lights out here at Shades of Shetland and over at She Ewe Knits too.
I know that turning your lights off for one hour isn't going to save the world, but maybe Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16324558034823652812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25501207.post-29327905988237225282008-03-06T13:17:00.003-05:002008-03-06T13:37:24.574-05:00Canadian Knitting Icon speaks!

"Canada Knits...Craft and Comfort in a Northern Land"

Of course, when you drive a Mini, it can be a bit daunting.......
DH had dug out the end of the driveway enough for him to get out, and left a path thru the snow -- tantalizing, but too deep for poor Myrtle Mini!
but what's that - he doesn't fly, he doesn't leap tall buildings, he drives a snow blower!
Closer and closer he gets --
by this time I've cleaned off the car and I'm ready to run.Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16324558034823652812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25501207.post-69851296782214831832008-02-07T13:24:00.000-05:002008-02-07T13:58:17.444-05:00Bohus Wristlets - FO!
Last Saturday, I attended a Bohus Workshop by Susanna Hansson - put on by the Kitchener-Wateroo Knitter's Guild, of which I am a member.
In addition to a fabulous presentation on the history of Bohus knitting -- not a traditional Swedish knitting style, but more of a fashion style developed in Sweden, knit by a group of women who needed to help support their families for a 30 year period 1939-Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16324558034823652812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25501207.post-25411821947978097562008-02-02T03:50:00.001-05:002008-02-02T04:04:59.838-05:00Introducing......
Cherished, the first official "Froggie Meanie" design.......a fair isle pullover for that special grand-daughter perhaps?
Knit in the round, with armhole and neckline steeks, this would be a great sweater to introduce the new fair isle knitter to the traditional techniques.
Cherished is knit in Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift, using Natural White throughout the background, and six delicious Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16324558034823652812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25501207.post-16524751371047172312008-01-14T12:10:00.000-05:002008-01-14T13:05:32.070-05:00Sneak Peaks....
A friend of mine is knitting the Silk Diamonds Scarf from Simply Shetland 4 -- she's using her own colourway and she let me photograph it when we met for lunch.....
I've never done any modular knitting like this -- looks very interesting.
A couple of you have asked me about the vintage design "Thoroughbred" by you know who -- what shades would I use if I were to knit it....well, I would love Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16324558034823652812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25501207.post-80255083224620769942008-01-06T21:27:00.000-05:002008-01-06T21:30:34.630-05:00First FO of the New Year!
And the last FO of last year -- here they are together.
So sad, but the orange socks that I knit were too small for DH, so I had to knit him this blue/grey pair - both Opal sock yarns. Mine have been washed a couple of times and the yarn has bloomed and softened wonderfully. DH's pair are hot off of the needles tonight.
First finished object of 2008! Here's to many more!

It won't be long til we're up there in snow......snow..... during the holidays we went to see Irving Berlin's White Christmas -- a favourite movie of mine so I had to see it live at the Sony Theatre in Toronto.
While Christmas itself was white, but not fresh white......we started the new year off with a new fresh blanket of snow....
